"Go on," Jasmine gestured. Ethan took the bank card and walked out. Outside, the two people were still yelling, especially the woman, who was spewing every nasty word she could think of.

"You useless... my dear son!" Ava was about to unleash another insult, but when she caught sight of the bank card in Ethan's hand, her expression changed instantly.

"My dear son, Mommy loves you so much!" Ava snatched the bank card from Ethan, kissed it, and then turned to him with a big smile.

"Sweetheart, I didn't mean to lose you before. It was just that we were going through some tough times. But things are different now! Things are so much better. Come here, Mommy loves you."She stepped forward, trying to hug Ethan to show her affection.

However, Ethan took a step back. "Oh, come on! Why are you stepping back? Why so cold with your mom? But that's okay, things will get better. You'll feel your mom and dad's love soon enough. By the way, we have things to do, so we'll be off now." Ava threw a quick jab at Ethan before she and her husband left.

Where were they headed?

Naturally, to the bank to withdraw money. Five hundred thousand!

Five hundred thousand!

The two of them happily entered the bank and handed over their card, smiling as they said, "Withdraw five hundred thousand."

"I'm sorry, but your balance is insufficient," the teller replied.

"What?!"

Both of them were taken aback. Ava leaned in closer, "That can't be! There should definitely be five hundred thousand in there."

"Right now, there's only seventy thousand," the teller said.

"Seventy thousand!" Their faces turned red with anger. Ava couldn't help but shout, "Seventy thousand? That's just enough to send a beggar away! That useless good-for-nothing only managed to get us seventy thousand?" Despite her complaints, they still withdrew the money.

"That good-for-nothing! Wasn't he supposed to beg, steal, or do whatever it takes to get us five hundred thousand? And he only brings back seventy thousand in the end? Ha! This son really has no conscience. I'm raising the stakes now; I need one hundred thousand. Five hundred thousand isn't enough to get my son back, and I need another five hundred thousand for our living expenses." Ava grumbled as she walked out of the bank.

Just then, they bumped into a young man, around his twenties, with a somewhat sly look in his eyes. When he saw Ava and the others, his face lit up with joy. "Son, what are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be held captive?" This was their son, Ryan Blackwood, the younger brother of Ethan Blackwood.

"I don't know. I was held captive, but later I heard someone put Eden Jackson in the hospital. When my guard went over, I managed to sneak out. I have no idea who did it," Ryan explained.

He frowned, initially expecting to be beaten up, but he never thought he would escape instead. The guy he crashed into was Eden-the very person he had crossed. "By the way, Mom, what about that mute, that deaf guy, that useless one? Did he pay up?" Ryan asked.

"Only seventy thousand," Ava replied, gesturing dismissively.

This made Ryan's expression darken. "Seventy thousand? That's just insulting! I need at least two hundred thousand. I have a wedding to plan, and I want a car and a house. It has to be two hundred thousand, "

"Right, it must be two hundred thousand. That useless guy owes us. I gave birth to him, so he has to pay me back," Ava nodded in agreement. Not a penny less than two hundred thousand.

"That deadbeat brother of mine, that useless mute, that deaf guy-no matter what, he is still my brother. If he doesn't take responsibility, then what's the point? But we need to put some pressure on him," Ryan said with a sly smile.

"Mom, we need to go back and find Eden Jackson. He's a big shot. When he had me locked up, I heard his men say he likes women. My sister is really pretty-she's from Uncle's side. I can introduce her to him and get close to that big tree. Of course, my precious brother has to pay every cent he owes."

"That niece from the second branch of the family? Sounds good," Ava replied.

Ryan thought about his brother's daughter, who was quite beautiful. "Alright, it's settled then." In the end, Ryan went to find Eden, using a photo of his sister to gain access.

After navigating through various obstacles, he finally met Eden, who had just woken up in his hospital bed. "Is this your sister?" Eden asked, holding the photo with a hint of interest. "Yes, my cousin. Mr. Eden, if you're interested, I can help you. I know her well, and I could even help you lure her out. What happens after that is up to you," Ryan replied with a grin.

"Sounds good." Eden glanced at Ryan. "If you pull this off, our deal will be settled, and you'll be my right-hand man. Just mention my name out there, and I promise you'll be thriving. But first, I need you to do something for me." Eden looked at the bandage on his head, a flicker of hatred in his eyes.

He could take his time with that woman, but he didn't want to wait a second longer to get revenge on Ethan. "Whatever you say, sir," Ryan said, lowering his head.

"I want you to find a way to make Ethan Blackwood, that useless son-in-law from the Thompson family of Panama City, suffer. I want him to feel unbearable pain." Eden slammed his fist on the table, his eyes blazing with fury.

"Ethan Blackwood?" Ryan was taken aback. He couldn't believe this was somehow related to Ethan Blackwood.

However, after glancing at the bandages on Eden's body, he started to piece things together. "What's wrong? Is it a problem?" Eden noticed Ryan's hesitation.

"No, not at all," Ryan quickly shook his head. But deep down, he thought about how he had been saved by that useless guy. Well, that was all that guy could do.

"Mr. Ryan, I know you have your eye on Jasmine. I have a plan..." Ryan jumped in eagerly.

What a coincidence!

On one hand, he wanted to ride the coattails of someone important, and on the other, he wanted to put pressure on Ethan Blackwood, to show him their strength and make him cough up some cash.

He never expected these two objectives would align perfectly. But the Ethan Blackwood now was not the same as before.

They had miscalculated Thompson family. "I can't shake the feeling that my legs look a bit off, like they're uneven..." Beatrice leaned against the doorframe, glancing down and mumbling to herself.

Just then, she looked up and saw Ethan Blackwood right in front of her. It was a rather embarrassing thing to say, but Ethan couldn't hear her anyway. Still, she found him annoying.

She immediately complained, "Sis, even if Ethan Blackwood saved you yesterday, he's deaf! He can't hear or speak; how could he possibly be good enough for you?"

"I forgot to mention, he's better now. He can hear," came a voice from behind her. Meanwhile, Jasmine was tidying up her things and responded with a soft voice.

At that moment, Beatrice froze in place, slowly turning her head to look at Ethan Blackwood. She saw him smiling at her and heard him say, "Actually... it's quite... symmetrical.."

"Ah!" Beatrice's scream echoed throughout the entire building.

"We've arrived." As soon as they got there, Jasmine let out a sigh of relief. For some reason, being in the car with Ethan had given her an odd, unsettling feeling. But once they stepped out, everything felt normal again. Because once she was out of the car, she was the president of Elite Group-Jasmine Thompson, President Beatrice. Her commanding presence returned. Ethan Blackwood followed behind her, carrying some items. In the past, he had a lackluster demeanor that made him seem weak, but now he exuded a different kind of confidence. Jasmine noticed the change! "Could it be that he feels more confident now that he can speak up?" she thought to herself. But there was no time to dwell on that; they had arrived at the cafe. Upon entering, they spotted a middle-aged man sitting at one of the tables. He was a rather overweight man dressed in luxurious clothing, complete with sunglasses, and flanked by two burly bodyguards-those types that looked intimidating just by standing there.

"Hey sis, look at him..." Beatrice said, clutching her chest as she approached Jasmine, pointing an accusing finger at Ethan Blackwood. "It's not his fault. I heard everything you said, and I told you, as long as I'm not divorced from him, you have to call him 'brother-in-law,' got it?" Jasmine replied, holding a blanket. "I...I... I don't want a brother-in-law like that!" Beatrice huffed, storming out. "I can't stay in this house anymore. It's either him or me!" With that, she left in a huff. "Ugh." Ethan sighed as she watched Beatrice leave. "That girl has such a temper. She'll be fine in a few days; there's no need to worry. By the way, I got you a new blanket." In the room, Jasmine spread out a blanket on the floor. It was a makeshift bed for Ethan. Their marriage was just a formality, and Ethan was merely a chosen orphan by Jasmine. The last time he saved her, it only made her take a proper look at him for the first time. But in the end, they were from completely different

All the resentment faded away. Ethan Blackwood was engulfed in darkness, while Jasmine was his only light. Just then, Jasmine and Beatrice returned. "I can't believe Morgan came to deliver the financing contract. I thought our company was going under for sure, but it turns out there's still hope! By the way, why did Morgan come to deliver the contract? Does he have a crush on you?" Beatrice's laughter filled the air. However, when they walked in and saw Ethan, her expression instantly turned cold. "Ethan, you useless waste! What are you still doing here? Didn't my sister tell you to pack your things and get out?" "Oh, and Ethan, I forgot to mention that my daughter has come to her senses. She packed your stuff last night, so hurry up and leave. A toad like you thinking you can have a swan? Ha!" At that moment, Salome came up from downstairs and chimed in sharply. They had wanted Ethan gone for a long time. From the very beginning, they had never agreed to him being part of their

They hadn't left yet and had rushed over upon hearing someone boast about saving Liam. "Save Liam? That kid has some nerve! Ha! I've been practicing medicine for over fifty years. Him? Ha! I've heard about him; he's just a young punk who dares to talk about medical skills," one of the masters Scoffed. "Exactly, Morgan. You might have been fooled. That kid is so young; how could he possibly have any real medical expertise? Besides, Liam's condition has deteriorated to this point there's no way to save him," another chimed in. "Right! Liam is in such poor health. What does that kid think he can do? He might have ulterior motives. Liam, you need to think this through," the third master added, their arrogance evident in their tone. These masters were renowned in the industry; how could a young novice pos
