Chapter 9: The Next Kingpin

(Sal's POV)

I met his gaze evenly, my own expression just as grim. "I understand," I said, my tone cold and deadly. "And believe me, I have no intention of crossing you. But if you or anyone in your gang tries to harm me or my family, I promise you, it will be the last thing you ever do."

With those words, I turned and walked away, my mind racing with thoughts of my half-brother and the danger that he posed to everyone around him. I knew that I had to be careful, that I had to keep a close eye on him and make sure that he didn't cause any trouble.

But at the same time, I couldn't help but wonder: what would happen if he and I ever found ourselves on opposite sides of the same war? And what would happen to Isabella and Luca if they were caught in the crossfire?

Those thoughts weighed heavily on my mind as I made my way back to my car and drove away into the night, the city's dark streets stretching out before me like a map of all the dangers and opportunities that lay ahead.
