Chapter 2

CHAPTER TWO

"What do you mean pick up the trash later? He can begin his job right now." Amanda then turned her cup upside down and spilled her wine on the tiled floor.

"Hey, trash, take off your rag-like cloth and clean this mess off." Amanda declared in a mocking tone.

Hearing the words of Amanda, the whole crowd chimed in with laughter, while Owen just stood there with clenched fists as they kept on ridiculing him for no reason at all.

"What are you doing just standing there? Take off your rag and clean the mess already." Tom roared in a mocking tone.

"Don't worry, loser, you wouldn't be doing it for free! Here you go!" Tom then slid his hand into his pocket and tossed a single dollar note to Owen's feet. "I am sure you haven't eaten nothing today, use that to get yourself a snack or something." Tom added.

"That's enough, all of you!" Kate couldn't take it anymore. "Stop speaking to my husband like this!"

"Stay mute, Kate. One more word and i shall send you packing to go stay with that good for nothing aunt of yours!" Maria voiced with her face bright red in anger, and Kate hesitated to utter another word.

"If you can't clean the mess, then you are no longer welcomed here, Owen." Maria then turned her head to glare at Owen in disdain.

Owen clenched his fists tightly, his rage building up inside of him and it almost felt like he was going to explode. But he chose to surpress it and began to retreat back to the exit door looking dishearted and with a saddened face.

Even if the humilation was now a daily occurence, it still affected him every single time.

"And where do you think you are going, young lady?" Maria grabbed onto Kate's arm after noticing she was about to follow Owen outside.

"I am going with him." Kate responded, struggling to set her arm from her mother's grip, but the grip was just too tight to break free.

"If you leave, you will no longer be my daughter. Do not think i am bluffing cause so far you have been useless to me and i won't think twice to disown you." Maria threatened with a cold look on her face.

Kate wanted to protest, but Owen's words calmed her down.

"It's fine Kate. I wouldn't want you fighting with your family cause of me." Owen smiled to her before turning around and taking his leave.

***

Owen walked through the dimly lit street with his head filled with thoughts, recalling his previous life before his father's death. How he was the head of powerful empires and even the Steele's family were no match for him.

But after his father's death, his stepmother ripped all of his wealth through illegal means, and now Owen is left with nothing. Absolutely nothing.

The only person who still cared about him was Kate, but Owen could see her love for him slowly fading away from her eyes as her mother kept poisoning her mind to leave Owen.

"Damn, where the fuck am i going to go?" Owen wondered, glancing around the dark empty street. He already got kicked out from his only source of shelter, and now he was stranded.

After several minutes of ponder, Owen finally concluded to head to the hotel he worked as a waiter. He don't mind working a night shift, as far as it gets him off the street for the night.

Coming to conclusion, Owen began to dash forward and made his way to the hotel.

The hotel was a Five stars hotel where different Big Shots around Purple hills city would often come in to eat, lodge, or have a quick drink.

Even Owen's life as a waiter there was a living hell and he would often face humilation from his rich peers who comes in as a customer.

After running for what seemed like forever he finally arrived infront of the luxurious Five Stars hotel, and without wasting anytime he walked in.

The place was crowded as usual with different wealthy individuals having fun with their partners, and anyone who caught a glimpse of Owen glared at him in disgust.

Owen chose to ignore thier hateful glares ans headed straight to their main building that led to the changing room for workers.

While Owen was heading towards the main hall, he began to hear the noises of people arguing from meters away. Curiousity got the best of him, and he quickened his pace to see just what was going on.

"Please, it was a mistake, i am sorry."

"A mistake my ass. I don't fucking care if it's a mistake or intentionally but you just spilled a meal woth $360,000, and also stained my designer shirt with it. I need my money back!"

Owen could finally see what it was. Three bulky individuals could be seen surrounding a middle-aged lady who was dressed in a waiter's uniform, and on the floor was different broken plates with different types off foods scattered around the floor.

"What has Mia gotten herself into." Owen gritted his teeth as he watched his only friend now in trouble.

Mia was the only person who never treated him badly and the two has been working together in the hotel for a while now.

Based on what he has seen and heard so far, Mia accidentally spilled a customer's meal that's worth a fortune, and one of the hotel's rule is that once a worker tamper with a customer's request, he should take full responsibility for it.

Owen knew the type of lady Mia was and she was almost on the same broke level as Owen, so there was no way she could afford such an amount.

If only he could help...

"What's the matter? Why aren't you making the transfer yet!" The bulky customer roared in anger and caused Mia to flinch a bit in fear and her head facing the floor.

While Owen was busy watching the ongoing comotion from a distant, a deep male's voice spoke from behind.

"Good evening, young master."
