New Family

Suddenly hearing this shocked every single person including Daniella who hadn’t shown any emotional change.

But Charles was shocked for two reasons, one was because of what his ears just heard and the second was what he was seeing.

[You have been offered membership into a first-class family as the son of the head]

[Do you wish to accept]

[Yes] [No]

This was why he failed to notice as every other person kept glancing back and forth at him and Arthur.

“Arthur, can you please explain what you mean.” It was Nate who spoke up. His tone was respectful as not only was Arthur the head of the family, but he was also his elder brother.

Arthur looked towards him. “Just like I said, I’m adopting him into this family as my son. So you should all treat him with the respect he deserves.”

“But…”

“I don’t owe explanations to anyone here,” he said cutting Andy who was beginning to speak short

“Or does anyone have a problem with it,” his expression was neutral, yet, it dominated everyone here.

His superior aura spread around the room and no one raised any objection. Charles wondered if he could get to the point of doing this.

He decided to pay attention to the conversation and leave the system for later.

Even he was hesitant to ask questions. The next person to speak up was Sera.

“Who are you?” She didn’t know why but she wasn’t comfortable with Charles around and strangely, he seemed somewhat familiar.

Arthur frowned slightly and looked towards Charles to see if he was uncomfortable which would lead him to put an end to this conversation but Charles didn’t show any sign of this as he answered her question.

“I’m Charles,” he said plainly.

“Charles who?”

Charles glanced at Arthur before looking back at her.

“Charles Alistair.”

Sera’s lips twitched slightly. “That’s not what I meant. What was your former family’s name before now.”

“I was disowned by my former family so I guess it's non-existent.”

The revelation brought about some frowns. They looked towards Arthur for an explanation only to see him smiling casually. He seemed glad about how Charles was faring.

“And what family is that?” She further questioned.

Art wasn’t sure if he should disclose this and Arthur who didn’t want them to know about this for now decided to put an end to this conversation.

“That would be all. Walter, Victoria, come in.” With this, two people walked into the room.

Victoria and the man who followed them here had to wait outside and Charles expected the two people who walked in to be them but the man was different, and Charles ‘eyes widened in shock seeing him.

The reason for this was because the man here dressed in an expensive suit, was the same 60-year-old man who lives and usually sits outside his apartment building.

“I told him to keep an eye on you some days before we met. He and Victoria would assist you with everything you need and should know.”

They both bowed towards him. This caused the jaws of two people here to drop. These two people were Corner and Reiner.

It was true to say that no matter how powerful and wealthy someone becomes, there are still some things that you can’t just gain. One of those things was Victoria.

Not only was she beautiful, but she was also intelligent and smart enough to gain recognition from Arthur, which was something most of them still hoped for.

Anyone would normally want someone like that by their side. But Arthur never put her under anyone in the household, only he was allowed to give her orders and instructions despite all their begging.

So you can imagine their surprise seeing what was going on now, and that surprise turned into envy and spite toward a certain someone.

Charles who was oblivious to all this, just nodded his head.

“You can go rest for now. The doctor would be seeing you shortly.”

All this said, Arthur stood up and walked out of the room after smiling at the waving Ashley. The stares from some of them turned more intense obviously.

He had started off on the wrong foot which wasn’t a good thing. But he didn’t have time to waste here so he stood up and walked away along with Victoria and Walter following after.

They just stared in silence and this went on even after he was gone. The person to break it was Corner.

“I don’t like him.”

“Now, now, it would be much better if you could all get along,” Aria chuckled.

“I think he’s not bad,” Ashley added.

“Well good for you. But we aren’t buying that right?” Reiner looked towards his twin brother for support.

“Huh? Oh! Yes,” Reiley nodded.

“What do you think,” Andy asked Daniella and the silence which followed showed that she wasn’t someone taken lightly.

Everyone here knew how cunning and dangerous she could be and prevented getting on her bad side.

“Beats me,” she said with a neutral expression before walking out of the room. Everyone held their thoughts in for now as they separated to their various activities.

Meanwhile, Charles was headed back to his room with Victoria leading the way while he was in a conversation with Walter.

“I have a lot of questions but I’ll save it for later. Though, there are three I’ll like to know now,” Charles voiced out.

“Of course, go ahead young master,” Walter said in a humble soft tone different from what he, remembered as the man who sat in front of their apartment had a sharp harsh one.

This was probably a skill meant for spying and blending in, which he learned.

“For my first question, where am I?”

This has been bothering him since he woke up

“You must already know that this is the residence of the Alistair’s as for our location, this is starlight city.”

Hearing this caused his eyes to widen as he paused his steps.

But then again, with the kind of family he just came into, it was normal and expected.
