Ray motioned for his men, and they moved swiftly, stepping out and clearing everyone outside the store with military precision. The manager, Ms. Tricia, returned, her face pale with fear. She trembled as she approached Jamie, but there was no longer any hint of defiance in her gaze—just an overwhelming dread.
"Please, Mr. Jamie," she begged, her voice shaking. "Let me settle this with you. You can pay for what you took... and I am sorry for my misconduct earlier and those of the girls."
Jamie didn't even blink as he swiped his card, clearing the five million-dollar bill without hesitation. Ms. Tricia stared at the receipt in disbelief, but there was nothing she could do. Her hands trembled as she handed Jamie his purchases, and with a nod, he turned and walked out of the store. Questions filled her head to ask but she wouldn’t dare, Ray Fenix was very clear with his instructions, the consequences of disobedience would be dire.
He lingered at the plaza’s gate, the sun glinting off his haul, waiting for a taxi. Then came the rumble—three black G-Wagons, sleek and menacing, screeched to a halt before him. Doors flew open, and ten men spilled out, clad in tailored suits and earpieces.
Their leader, a lean figure with a hawkish face, dropped to one knee, the rest following. "Young Master," he intoned, voice steady. "We’ve been sent by your grandfather to escort you."
Jamie was momentarily stunned. "My grandfather?" he asked, the words barely escaping his lips.
“Yes, Young Master. We are here to serve you. You will no longer need to worry about anything.”
Jamie eyed the cars—$2 million each, customized with military-grade armor and tech, pocket change to the fleet Raymond had promised. A grin tugged at him—his life was a campus fable now, rags to riches in a heartbeat.
“I’m Tom Yates,” the man said, handing over a sleek tablet. “Your PA and head of security—a squad of nine special elite forces under me.”
Tom was a tall, imposing figure, his suit tailored to perfection, and his demeanor exuded a sense of authority. Jamie followed him into the middle G-Wagon’s plush interior, his mind still processing everything that had happened.
As the car drove through the streets, Tom filled Jamie in on the details. "Your grandfather is watching over you," Tom said. "And he will not allow you to suffer the way you have in the past. Everything has been arranged. You have security, wealth, and influence beyond your wildest dreams. But the most important thing is... you are never alone in this anymore."
Jamie nodded, his thoughts still swirling. This was a new chapter in his life, one he hadn’t been prepared for, but he was determined to take control of it.
Soon, they arrived at the Clayton Skyline Hotel—a luxury 12-star property that looked more like a palace than a hotel. The penthouse suite, which Jamie was told was now his, was worth over $2 million a night and $79.9 million to own.. It was nothing short of extraordinary. Tom led Jamie inside, showing him every detail of his new home. There was a private helipad, a massive swimming pool, and a collection of cars that would make any billionaire jealous.
“This is yours, Young Master,” Tom said, gesturing to the entire penthouse. “Everything in it is yours. And when you’re ready, we can fly you to the Lady Goodwin yacht for Sonia’s birthday party. You are the special guest.”
Tom passed him a velvet box. Jamie cracked it open—an invite to Sonia Goodwin’s yacht party on the Lady Goodwin. “A high-ranking Ashford subordinate was the special guest,” Tom explained. “The Goodwins and Crooks were so thrilled when we honoured the invitation. Now you’re taking his place as the special guest.”
Jamie smiled. For the first time in years, he felt like he was finally in control. He had been brought here for a reason, and he wasn’t going to waste it.
Jamie’s smile widened. “And after?”
“Your granfather has ordered us to fly you to one of your late father’s private islands in the Maldives. You’ll meet there—officially, and get proper answers to all your questions.”
Jamie leaned back, the leather cradling him. A private island—his father’s—while he and his mother had scraped by in squalor. If only she’d told him. Soon, Raymond would explain it all.
Before he could say anything further, his phone rang. It was from the hospital. St. Mary’s General—the one he now owned. He answered, and a crisp voice greeted him, the new head doctor. “Sir, per your instructions about your stepfather’s checkups, Ben Reynold’s here today. Routine visit.”
Jamie’s lips curled. Ben’s biweekly ritual at St. Mary’s—treatment for a creeping illness he couldn’t skip. If he misses a week, and his odds of dying spiked over 60%, a clock he never dared test. Jamie knew it well, he had seen the man’s diligence and commitment to this routine at St. Mary’s. But after the cruelty, the party, the corpse—Ben deserved to squirm.
“Keep him there,” Jamie said, voice cold. “No treatment till I say. Stall him.” Jamie was yet to decide what punish Ben deserved for all he did to him and his now-late mother.
“Yes, sir,” the doctor replied, and the line went dead.
Jamie tapped the phone against his chin, plotting Ben’s punishment—something slow, fitting. Just then, another call cut through—Ray Fenix. “Momentuum’s shut down, boss. And we have Mick with us, bound to a chair. Waiting for your instruction, boss.”
“Good,” Jamie said. “I’ll come when I’m ready. Just keep him there.” He hung up.
Jamie smiled. Things were moving faster than he had expected. Now, it was time to take back everything that was rightfully his—and more.
For now, he had a party to attend, he couldn’t wait to see the faces of his nemeses when they see him land on that yacht in a private helicopter. Hahaha!

Raymond's expression had turned sour as he talked about Jamie's relatives. “They all grew up without the slightest taste of trouble, not to even mention overcoming tribulations.”Jamie couldn't help but interject. “Grandpa Ray, isn't that the point of being rich? So you don't have to watch the descendants of your family suffer the same kinds of hardship?”Raymond shook his head with a displeased expression on his face. “Yeah, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't cultivate their will powers! Look at me, Jamie. Do I look like I'm going to be alive forever?! Despite living the same lifestyle as these children and grandchildren of mine, I still went through more than my fair share of ups and downs to become the capable leader that I am today.”He sat up straight in his seat. “And what about your father, Jamie? Why didn't Michael turn out like his brothers, sisters, and cousins? He grew up living the same lavish lifestyle, but he understood the need to cultivate a brave heart in the face

Inside the huge office, there's a door that leads to a suite within the huge mansion. Jamie was blown away by how expensive every area he had seen looked.“I heard that all of this belongs to my dad. Is that true?”The old patriarch glanced back at his grandson. I see you're the inquisitive type, huh?”He gestured to the couches in the living area of the hidden suite. “Sit down. You see, this suite was built to give your father a little break away from the hassle of duties whenever he got overwhelmed.” Once they've settled into the couch, Raymond orders the head butler to go brew them some tea while they talk. “There are a limited number of people who are granted access to, and the head butler of this mansion is one of them. Not even the lower butlers can get in.”Jamie glanced at the head butler walking away. “Were all these people recruited by my dad, or did you employ them after moving in here?”Raymond chuckled as he sat back against the couch. “No, I did not hire anyone here. Raymond Ashford slowly got up on his feet, his gaze fierce on his grandson to show his displeasure. It was at this point that Jamie felt his heart lurch in his throat on instinct. Right now, his initial assumption that his grandfather would bring a weakling was far out the window. This patriarch's gaze alone gave him the feeling of being looked down upon by a giant. He was wrong. Jamie was just realizing it. This old man, despite his frail physique, was anything but weak. He carried a reason aura, and that was just told by his eyes alone. The silence in the large office was heavy, and the only thing everyone could hear was Patriarch Raymond's footsteps as he slowly walked around his desk to stand before his grandson.Due to his old age, his body has shrunk, and he is shorter than Jamie. Yet, it was easy to note that this old man had to be, at least, as tall as Jamie when he was in his prime.Jamie could only imagine how fearsome his paternal grandfather must have been back then. A bi

Jamie shifted his focus to sightseeing as the car zoomed across the roads of the island city. Though the city was smaller, it was incredibly advanced. For one, the technology imbued into the daily lives of the island inhabitants was superior to that of the rest of the world. It seems the civilization on this island is solely funded by the Ashford family's futuristic tech company, AS-Crows Tech Corp.As the convoy proceeded forward, Jamie noticed that the road had become more private. There are barely any other vehicles on this elevated road. Each side of the surrounding path is filled with vibrant forest and even signs of wildlife.Soon, the road opened up to a huge gate, held up by tall fences that stretched beyond the limits of his eyesight.Tom Yates turned to Jamie as he gestured to the gates. “Young Master, welcome to the Michael Estate-123.”Jamie figured out that the ‘-123’ came from the number assigned to his father's island. Since he had up to 150 islands, this must be no.1

As the jet was about to take off, Jamie received a call from the director of St. Mary's Hospital. With a smirk on his face, he picked up the call, knowing fully well what this call was about. “Director Rowling, how may I help you?”The director cleared his throat before he uttered a word. “President Jamie, I hope you're having a pleasant morning. I wanted to update you on the situation with Mr. Barnard Reynolds. I….uh, allowed a doctor to treat him.”Jamie faked a slightly displeased tone. “And why would you do that without my permission?”The director sounded very nervous now. “I'm sorry, Sir Jamie. It's just that time was running out. If we had failed to give him the treatment past the scheduled time, it could really lead to complications in his health. I'm just trying to avoid lawsuits from the Reynold Agency's CEO.”Jamie chuckled lightly, easing the tension through the call. “Relax, director. I'm not mad at all. I expected you to take the proper action. It's fine. From now on, d

Kennedy Goodwin walked over to his daughter. “Surely, this must be from the Ashford subordinate. Despite not showing up today, he still remembered to send you a gift through Jamie.”He was very satisfied to see that his persistence to acquaint himself with the Ashford subordinate didn't turn out to be in vain. This gift was definitely something only an affiliate of the Ashford family could afford to give out.Sonia’s group of friends rushed to her side, begging to tag along with her whenever she decided to use the gift card. After a while, they urged her to open the second box. This was a bit bigger than the first one.Stacy pointed at it. “This one is definitely from Jamie. I wonder what he got you though?”Under everyone's gaze, Sonia opened the second box, and she gasped at what she saw.One of Sonia's girlfriends chuckled with amusement. “Sonia, this is an Amore Eterno necklace! It features 25 diamond solitaires, 4 heart-shaped diamonds, and more than 20 round jewels. It's worth
