Marcus frowned at her accusations.

“Can I see your grandfather?”

Stephanie's eyes became colder. For a brief moment, her composure slipped as she studied him closely, looking for any indication that he was lying.

Her hand tightened around the golden pistol at her waist.

“You think I'm joking?” she asked with a cold laugh. “Fine. Follow me if you're so determined to see him.”

She turned and walked across the marble floor, the sound of her military boots echoing through the villa.

Julius chose his words carefully, dodging his friend’s lingering curiosity. He knew Marcus valued his privacy and would not appreciate his identity being revealed casually."It is better you do not ask," Julius muttered, his tone final.Just as his companion began to reply, a familiar voice broke through the market's noise."Julius!"Anita appeared, weaving her way toward them with her usual confidence, a bright smile lighting her face. "What a coincidence seeing you here!" she exclaimed warmly.Julius's expression cooled instantly, his posture stiffening. "Anita," he greeted, his response devoid of enthusiasm. Her smile faltered slightly, but she pressed on. "I did not expect you at the antique market. Are you looking for something specific?"He had not wanted to come to the market in the first place, knowing full well the tension between Anita and Marcus. The last thing he wanted was to be caught in the middle."No," Julius stated curtly. "I was just brought here by a friend."Anita

Hearing Erica’s respectful tone over the speaker, Anita leaned in with a sharp look. Her mouth twisted into a cold grin."Seriously? Is this your best trick?" she asked, turning toward her mother with mockery in her voice. "An actress. He actually hired a woman to pretend over the phone. How pathetic."Deborah crossed her arms tightly, her face red with frustration. "You have some nerve," she barked into the phone at Erica. "How dare you help him with this ridiculous lie? Do you take us for fools?"Erica’s firm voice came through the speaker. "I do not know what issue you have, but I assure you—""Save it," Anita cut in sharply. "Nobody in this room is buying your little performance. Honestly, Marcus, this is low, even for someone like you."Marcus opened his mouth to speak, but Deborah cut him off instantly. "That is enough! Do you really think these foolish games will work? You have made enough of a fool of yourself today."Marcus held his phone, his grip tightening as Erica tried t

Stephanie’s eyelids fluttered open, her sight slowly coming into focus. She blinked several times to adjust to the light, realizing she was lying back on the long sofa inside the hall with John and her assistant standing beside her."What is happening?" Stephanie asked, her voice dry and barely above a whisper.John leaned in with a relieved smile. "You are awake," he said gently. "How are you feeling?"Stephanie frowned, searching her memory. "I am not sure," she admitted. "What happened to me?"Her assistant stepped closer, her face showing both worry and relief. "We found you unconscious on the floor, so we moved you inside," the assistant explained. "Doctor John arrived shortly after and spent the last half hour stabilizing your condition."Hearing those words, Stephanie’s eyes widened as the events returned to her mind. She remembered the thugs, the strange light, and the sharp pain tearing through her body. She had assumed she could handle the force, but she had been mistaken.L

Marcus's grip tightened around his phone as he listened to Stephanie. Her grandfather was awake. For a few seconds, he couldn't say anything. “That can't be right,” Marcus muttered, his forehead creasing. He had personally diagnosed Stephanie's grandfather. The poison was extremely rare, and even Marcus had struggled to find the herbs required to treat it. He leaned back and thought about it. Could it really be possible? Marcus had seen enough strange things to know that not everything in the world could be explained easily. Maybe a miracle had actually happened. He straightened in his seat. “We need to hurry,” Marcus instructed the driver. “If there's even a chance that Stephanie's grandfather has recovered, I need to see him. It could change everything. It might even settle the marriage issue.” The driver increased the speed. They were already close to Stephanie's villa when another vehicle suddenly moved across the road and blocked their path.
