Zephyr would not stop moving.

The creature paced around the shelter. Back and forth. Back and forth. Its claws scraped against the cracked floor. Its wings twitched. Its tail lashed from side to side. It made sounds Kael had never heard before. Deep growls. High pitched whines. Strange noises that did not seem to come from any living thing.

Kael watched with growing alarm. "What is happening to it? It has never done this before. It could barely move a few days ago. Now it will not stay still."

Mira stood beside him. Her face was pale. Her hands were shaking. "I do not know. But something is changing. Something big. Look at its eyes. They are glowing."

Kael looked. Mira was right. Zephyr's golden eyes were brighter than ever. They pulsed with light. They seemed to see things that were not there. Things from another world.

"We have to take it somewhere safe," Mira said. "Somewhere no one can see. If it transforms here, everyone will know. The hunters will find us."

Kael thought about the mountains. The hidden valley Mira had mentioned. A place where no one went. A place where they could be alone.

"Take me there," he said. "Take me to the valley."

Mira nodded. She grabbed her bag. She packed what little they had. A few scraps of food. A canteen of water. A blanket. It was not much. But it was all they had.

They left the shelter. Zephyr followed. It did not need to be carried anymore. It walked on its own. Its legs were stronger. Its wings were straighter. It was changing by the minute.

They moved through the city. The streets were empty. It was late. The moon was full. The sky was clear. Zephyr looked up at the moon. It made a sound. A longing sound. Like it was calling to something.

"Hurry," Mira said. "We have to get out of the city before anyone sees us."

They reached the city gates. The guards were asleep. They slipped through the shadows. They ran through the fields. They climbed the rocky hills. The terrain was rough. The night was cold. But they did not stop.

The mountains rose before them. Tall and dark. Silent and ancient. Mira led the way. She knew the paths. The hidden trails. The secret ways.

"There," she said. She pointed at a narrow gap between two cliffs. "The valley is through there. No one knows about it. I found it by accident. It is safe. It is hidden. No one will find us."

They squeezed through the gap. The rocks scraped against Kael's shoulders. He pushed forward. He had to get through. He had to see what would happen.

They emerged into the valley. It was beautiful. Surrounded by tall cliffs. Covered in green grass. A small stream ran through the center. The moonlight poured down like liquid silver.

Zephyr walked into the center of the valley. It looked up at the moon. Its scales began to glow. Slowly at first. A faint shimmer. Then brighter. The glow spread across its body. Its wings mended before Kael's eyes. The cracks healed. The tears closed. The wings became whole.

Kael fell to his knees. He could not believe what he was seeing. Zephyr was transforming. It was becoming something incredible. Something impossible.

The glow grew brighter. Brighter than anything Kael had ever seen. It filled the valley. It lit up the cliffs. It shot into the sky like a pillar of fire. A beam of golden light that could be seen for miles.

"Everyone will see that," Kael said. His voice was trembling. "Everyone will know where we are. They will come for us."

Mira grabbed his arm. "We cannot stop it now. Whatever is happening, it has to happen. We just have to hope it is quick."

Zephyr roared. The sound echoed through the mountains. It was not the chirp of a weak creature. It was the roar of a predator. A beast of legend. A being of power.

The glow intensified. Zephyr grew larger. Its body expanded. Its wings spread wide. Its scales turned to pure gold. Its eyes burned like twin suns.

Zephyr rose into the air. It hovered above the valley. Its wings beat once. Twice. The wind from its wings knocked Kael and Mira to the ground. They scrambled to their knees. They stared up at the creature.

It was not a defect. It was a legend. A myth made real. A Primeval Beast in all its glory.

And then it spoke. Not in words. In images. In feelings. In memories.

Kael saw the ancient world. A world before the current Beast Taming system. A world where Primeval Beasts roamed free. A world of balance and harmony. But then the rulers came. They were afraid. They could not control the Primeval Beasts. So they sealed them. They trapped them in weakened forms. They erased them from history.

Zephyr showed Kael the war. The battle between the Primeval Beasts and the rulers. The destruction. The chaos. The pain. The Primeval Beasts fought with everything they had. But they were outnumbered. They were betrayed. They were defeated.

The rulers created the current system. A system that valued power over everything. A system that crushed anyone who did not fit in. A system built on lies.

Kael understood now. He was not just a Beast Tamer. He was a threat to the entire order. The rulers had sealed Zephyr because they were afraid of its power. They were afraid of change. They were afraid of losing control.

But now Zephyr was awake. It had chosen him. It had chosen a nobody. A failure. A castaway.

Zephyr descended. It landed in front of Kael. It lowered its head. Its eyes met his. There was wisdom in those eyes. Ancient wisdom. Timeless wisdom. It had been waiting for someone like him. Someone who would not give up. Someone who would see its true worth.

Kael knelt before the creature. He bowed his head. He pledged his loyalty.

"I will protect you," he said. "I will fight for you. I will never let anyone take you away. You are mine. And I am yours. We are bound together. Forever."

Zephyr made a sound. A soft sound. A sound of acceptance. It pressed its head against Kael's chest. Its warmth spread through him. Its power flowed into him. They were connected now. Truly connected.

Mira watched from a distance. Tears streamed down her face. She had never seen anything so beautiful. So powerful. So hopeful.

"Kael," she said. Her voice was barely a whisper. "What happens now? What do we do?"

Kael stood up. He looked at Zephyr. He looked at the golden light still shimmering in the sky. He looked at the mountains around them. The world was changing. And he was at the center of it all.

"We prepare," he said. "We get stronger. We learn. We grow. And when the time is right, we show them the truth. We show them what Zephyr really is. We make them kneel."

Mira nodded. She believed him. She believed in him.

Zephyr spread its wings. It looked at the moon. It roared again. A sound of triumph. A sound of freedom. It was awake. It was alive. It was ready.

And the world would never be the same.

  • The Markings

The symbols on Zephyr's scales were not random.Kael had always known that. Deep down, he had felt it. But he had been too tired. Too scared. Too busy trying to keep the creature alive to think about what the markings meant. Now Mira had said the words out loud. And he could not unsee them."They look like writing," Mira said. She was kneeling beside Zephyr. Her finger traced the patterns on its scales. "Look at this line. It curves like a letter. And this one. It loops. These are not natural markings. Someone put them there. Or something."Kael knelt beside her. He looked closer. She was right. The markings were organized. They formed patterns. They repeated in certain places. They were deliberate. They meant something."I never noticed that before," he said. "I mean, I saw them. But I did not think about what they could be. I was too worried about keeping Zephyr alive."Mira looked at him. "You have been through a lot. It is okay to miss things. But now you have to pay attention. Th
