Chapter 4

Mason got into the car. Rudolf immediately drove it away from the Cityline residential area. Slowly, the road took him back to where he was before.

"What about the one I asked for?"

Rudolf smiled, looking at the glass above his head. "He will come tomorrow."

Mason nodded slowly. "Good."

He had already completely decided to leave everything about the Wilmer family behind. But despite his grudge against them, the fact remained that he still cared for Rowan. 

He sent one of his servants to the man's caretaker because he knew the Wilmer family did not care about his situation. He knew Rowan was a good man, so he did the same for her.

Let's just say he has been repaying Rowan for her kindness all these years.

"Please, Master." Rudolf immediately opened the car door for his master.

They had arrived at the Gilbert family residence. Mason got out of the car and used his long-hidden last name again.

"Welcome back, Master." The servants bowed respectfully, welcoming Mason warmly.

Rudolf had prepared a small gift to welcome their master back.

"We have prepared all your favourite dishes, Master."

Rudolf knew that his master had been eating poorly because he was too busy caring for Wilmer's family affairs and had not even eaten his favourite delicacies for a long time. So Rudolf prepared all this for Mason.

Mason sat on a chair. Several servants poured food and drinks, giving him the best service, contrary to what he got at the Wilmer family home.

Mason went back to enjoying his old life in peace. Meanwhile, at the Wilmer's house, chaos began.

"This is not good." Selena threw her bag on the sofa, leaving everyone confused by her arrival. "How's this?"

Selena looked anxious, biting her lower lip in annoyance. She had just met with a lawyer from her father, accompanied by Yohan, but the news she got was too bad to share with her family. 

"What happened? How did it go?" Eva was curious and immediately greeted Selena, who had just entered the house. "Everything's fine, right?"

Now, they were all gathered in the living room to find out what Selena would say after meeting with Rowan's lawyer. But the sombre look on Selena's face confused everyone.

Selena looked at everyone before her, then exhaled before starting the conversation.

"That damn man got 20% of father's shares."

"What? 20 percent?" Eva, who had been sitting casually, stood up tensely. "That's huge."

Selena ran her fingers through her hair, visibly upset after getting the news from Rowan's lawyer about the division of the inheritance they would get in case Rowan passed away.

However, they found out something shocking. It had been a week since Mason's departure from the Wilmer household, and now the lawyer was telling them this. 

"Not to mention, WM Group is in trouble." Selena exhaled roughly, bowing her head sadly.

"What's wrong with our company?" Eva sat back down but was not at all calm.

"The biggest investor in our company... unilaterally terminated the cooperation contract." Selena covered her face, holding back tears. "Now our company is in dire straits."

Eva, who heard the news, felt a sudden emptiness pierce her. The company owned by the Wilmer family before was fine and growing rapidly, but she didn't understand why it suddenly became like this.

"Since I don't work for a multinational anymore, I will take over the company." Selena raised her face, looking at Yohan. "With my lover."

Eva just nodded slowly with a blank look in her eyes. "Then, what about the 20 percent share that went to that damn guy?"

"We can't let him." Selena wrung her hands, staring at her mother and sister. "He must have gotten that 20%."

"Now she must be having a lot of fun with that money, Selena." The small woman next to Selena didn't look happy about the news. She was Emily. 

Emily had not liked her sister's marriage to Mason from the start, especially since her arrival in this house. Almost every day, there was no peace for her. Axelo always complained, but it was also quite fun for her when her son managed to tease Mason.

"Scum like him don't deserve that, and 20% is a lot." Emily snorted in annoyance while squeezing his hand tightly. "Isn't that our right?

"We should have just killed him yesterday so that we could get that 20%." Eva chuckled in annoyance, and now she was thinking of eliminating Mason. 

Selena couldn't stay silent about this. "We must find Mason immediately and ask him to return what he stole."

"Yes, do it quickly." Eva was very upset and slammed the sofa cushions on the floor, blaming her husband. "That handicapped man, at the end of his life, is still giving us trouble."

"But where should we look for him?" Selena's question made everyone else pause and think the same thing. 

All this time, they only knew that Mason was a poor man who didn't have anything or even a home and could only live with Wilmer's family. So when the man left this house, they already didn't care where he would go, and now they were confused about where to look for him. 

"Oh, take it easy. I'll give you a hand." Yohan acted like a hero in the middle of this mess. "I have people who can look for that man."

"I trust you." Selena smiled happily, wrapped her arms around her lover's arm and hoped that her ex-husband would be found soon. 

Meanwhile elsewhere, Mason was walking around driving his own car. Finally, he stopped in front of a mall. He got out of the car, taking off his sunglasses.

Mason entered a clothing store. It had been a long time since he bought clothes because all his time was consumed by the busy life at the Wilmer family home.

"Welcome." The shop assistant invited Mason to enter.

Mason chose and intended to buy some nice clothes there—clothes that he hadn't worn in a long time. All this time, only simple clothes continued to cling to his body.

"Please, sir. These clothes seem to suit you," the salesgirl said, pointing at the navy shirt in the branded display case.

"Huh, isn't that Selena's husband?" A woman frowned, looking at Mason from a distance. "What is he doing here?"

The woman named Bella rounded her eyes as Mason walked into the Vabylan store, the most luxurious store in the clothing store centre. Suddenly, it made her wonder.

"He went inside a luxury store? It can't be for shopping, right?" Bella folded her arms in front of her chest, stepping slowly, approaching the store.

The sight in front of her confused Bella, as Mason seemed to be picking out some expensive clothes.

"Selena should know about this." She scrolled through her phone, contacting her best friend. "Hello, Selena."
