Chapter 8

"Wow, this is really amazing." Selena's eyes lit up at the sight before her.

The Hillsbrough Town Building was the most luxurious in Lovia. Not a few big people rented the building to hold parties there because, apart from its strategic location, the security was also very good. The building's architecture combines classic design with modern design. It is very beautiful and charming.

Selena, Eva and Yohan got out of the car. Their faces looked happy to be at the luxurious party held by the Galinton family.

"The Galinton family is very rich, and our relationship is very close because we cooperate well." Yohan did not boast in front of his lover and future mother-in-law. 

"Wow, you really are a great guy, Yohan." Eva stroked his arm, full of pride. "It's not wrong that Selena chose you."

"Yes, he did." Selena rested her head on Yohan's chest.

Selena was now more confident about appearing in front of people because she was with Yohan than when she was Mason's wife. She didn't have face-to-face people because they knew her husband was unemployed and embarrassed her.

"I didn't expect us to be here now." Selena squeezed her cold hands nervously. "Look, this building is so luxurious."

Selena felt very excited to get into the party. She also wore a very pretty red dress, which must have been expensive because Yohan had bought it for her.

"Come on, let's go in. It must be even more luxurious than this." Eva looked impatient to get inside the party building.

"Come on!" Yohan extended his hand to Selena.

Selena smiled, taking Yohan's arm. They walked together on the red carpet in front of the building to welcome the guests. 

But when they were only a few steps away, Eva's eyes rounded as they fell on a startling sight not far from them.

"Hey, look at that." Eva pointed her index finger, causing Selena and Yohan to stare in the same direction. 

Selena and Yohan turned their heads in surprise when they saw that the man Eva was pointing at was Mason.

Seeing Mason here, of course, made them angry. "What? Why is he here?

"It can't be helped."

Eva and Selena immediately approached and pulled Mason until the invitation in his hand fell. 

"Hey, why are you here?" Eva gave Mason a sharp look.

"You want to do bad things again like before. You've taken money from my father?" Selena still did not accept what had happened a while ago between them. "You're shameless."

Mason looked at them coldly and picked up his dropped invitation without saying anything.

Seeing the invitation suddenly made them scream. "What? 

"How did you get the invitation from here?" Yohan snatched the invitation from Mason's hand. "You don't deserve to come here. This is not your place."

Mason looked at Yohan with a colder gaze. "It's actually very strange that you guys got the invitation."

Mason again snatched his invitation from Yohan's hand. That made them angry at Mason.

"Insolent." Yohan rolled his eyes. "We were able to get an invitation here because we are great people, unlike you."

"Yes, obviously. My boyfriend is a rich businessman with good relations with the Galinton family." Selena stroked Yohan's chest, boasting about her lover in front of her ex-husband. "We are important guests here."

Mason smiled mockingly, which made them even angrier. "What's that smile mean, huh, damn it?"

"You're the one who shouldn't be here because this is a party for great people and rich people, not for poor, lousy people like you." Eva pursed her lips in disdain, insulting Mason.

It was strange to see Mason among the important people who were invited guests at the Galinton family party. They wondered where Mason had gotten the invitation from. 

"You stole the invitation from the other guests, huh?" Selena raised one eyebrow, looking at Mason suspiciously. "Or is it possible that the invitation you have is a fake invitation?"

"That could happen." Yohan girded his loins. "A cunning person like him would go to any lengths to get what he wants. Including forging the invitation."

They laughed, especially since they remembered how Mason had managed to inherit 20% of Rowan's shares. It was probably the same cunning method he used then.

"What a pity." Yohan chuckled softly, then showed the invitation in his hand. "Look, we have a valid invitation, which is genuine, of course."

"I wonder how you got that invitation." Selena covered her mouth with the palm of her hand. "Oh, did you take it by force? Thief."

"Whatever you say." Mason didn't care about what they said and immediately walked away.

"Insolent." Yohan pulled Selena's hand, prompting Mason to give the invitation first to the guard in front.

"Bye!" Eva waved arrogantly, mocking Mason and stepped into the party building with an annoyed snort.

Mason looked at them without caring about the world. He entered the building and watched them from a distance.

"It's amazing. This is a really amazing experience for me." Eva grabbed her phone and took several pictures of herself in the middle of the hall.

Selena even helped take a picture of her mother, then took Yohan's arm again. "Come on, we should also take at least one picture."

"Okay." Yohan smiled, putting his arm around Selena's shoulder.

Mason didn't care about what they were doing. He took some wine, enjoyed the party, and paid attention to his surroundings.

Selena snorted in annoyance as her gaze fell back on Mason. "I don't like having that lousy guy here."

"Same with me." Yohan put one hand in his pants pocket. That invitation looks the same as the one I have; it looks like the real thing. I don't know who he got the invitation from."

Yohan was sure Mason must have received another guest's invitation, but why would the man do such a thing. He did not know Mason's real purpose for being at this party. 

"Ah, I'm not so excited anymore. So lazy to have to meet that guy." Selena complained, turning the glass in her hand lazily. "If only he wasn't here, maybe we could have enjoyed the party so much."

"I know something." Yohan smiled slyly. "We should accuse him of being a thief."

Selena frowned, then looked at Yohan. "You mean get him kicked out of this party?"

Yohan nodded his head as he flicked his index finger. "Now, take off your necklace."

Selena smiled happily, taking off the blue jewelled necklace around her neck. "Quickly put it on Mason's tuxedo."

They grinned. Yohan grabbed the necklace and hurried to Mason silently. "You're dead."
