Chapter Four Heavenly offer

“Young master, our future heir to the great empire. We have finally found you.”

Julian stood stationary, his legs incapable of carrying his body not understanding what they meant by that greeting. He was no heir, only a poor orphan who had been discarded by his parents. Julian smiled awkwardly and concluded that these men were mental while he sought another way to escape.

“You are not only the heir, you are the chosen one that will save our empire and bring it to greater heights. Are you prepared to ascend to the throne and take your full responsibility as the new heir and CEO of Magnus Empire?”

“What?!” Julian did not stop himself from laughing as he truly confirmed that they were very mental. Maybe it was an act or a play and they were filming it on camera. He swiftly searched around only to see a whole crowd of people and camera flashing lights. Fear ran down his spine and he frankly spoke. “I think you are mistaken. I am not any heir. I think you made a mistake.”

“The stars never lie. Destiny never lies.” The man said and gripped Julian’s shirt to expose the star-like symbol on his chest. Julian gazed at the sudden revelation and became seriously petrified about this. He had no birthmark of such.

“I……” Julian exhaled and stepped backward. He closed his shirt and looked away. He did not want to believe in such superstitious situations. It could be a coincidence that it has been there since. Anything can be a coincidence but not this dire situation!

“We’ve been looking for you, Mr. Williams. Years have passed and you are still able to retain might, agility, wisdom and strength. We traced the magical, supreme power to you. We cannot be mistaken, Young Lord. You are the descendant of the GREAT MAGNUS EMPIRE.

Julian blinked his eyes to ensure he was not daydreaming, and actually, he was not. He reached for his chest and felt a burning sensation on the spot where that symbol was. It was already visible to him and everyone else. What other proof did he need to dispel the thought that they had made a mistake when a big one was staring at all of them?

“Me? I am only a pauper whose fiancée cheated on. I have no capability of running an empire. I can’t be the one you are looking for. Are you sure about this?” Julian blinked his eyes in confusion attempting to see if they would give up on him, but no they did not. His arms trembled as the leader handed over to him a complete biography of his life. He shrieked in horror and stepped back. “Why are you stalking me?”

He was scared of these men. He wanted to run far away from them but something powerful was keeping him still.

“Mr. Williams, there is no time left! Are you interested in changing your worthless life and then making those who disparaged you pay? I am offering you a CEO position in one of the biggest empires belonging to Great Magnus II. As a CEO, you are liable to a daily eight-figure salary, a brand new, luxurious Mercedes car, ten mansions of your own, and anything you want! Do you agree?”

This offer was backed up by a contract depicting that it was not a joke. Their serious faces too were shreds of evidence that they were not pranking him. Was this finally the God-sent offer he had been praying for to happen? It came quicker than he had expected.

“Sign the contract.” He assured Julian and without further ado, he signed it under their constant pressure. The road was cleared for him by the snap of the man’s fingers. Julian was directed into the car, the door held by someone else, he comfortably laid on the chair.

“What next boss?” Another person whispered in the leader’s ears and he responded quickly. “We take him to meet the old master. Do not forget to wipe off every trace of Julian Williams. He doesn’t exist anymore. He is now Mr. Magnus’ son, Jackson Magnus!” His words were followed by the shake of heads and all made way for him to make his way into the car.

“Ensure that no one has any pictures of the young master, if they do, I want them dead. His arrival shall be welcomed by a grand ceremony where he would be crowned as the successor of the empire, got it?”

“Yes, Boss….”

………………………

The door banged shut as Kyra who had gone after Julian came back empty-handed having a worn-out expression on her face. It appeared that she had not achieved her purpose of chasing him out. She cleared her head and sat down.

“Are you going to chase after that penniless asshole that ruined our life? He doesn’t deserve your mercy at all. I have always wanted to get rid of him by all means.” Denzel said with a hint of annoyance as he spoke to Kyra. He glared at his bandaged wrist, recalling what Julian had done to it.

He was in pain and it was all because of that useless boy. As he kept on cursing, Kyra walked back and front pondering on his last word. She was more concerned about the authority that Gregory spoke with as if he had such powers to do so. She wouldn’t want any harm to befall her mother, that was her weak point.

Kyra had not done deep research on the true identity of Julian before they met. She only assumed he was a poor orphan which was what Julian had told her. She only needed him to work for her while she went from one brothel to another sleeping with men here and there.

The way he spoke troubled her very much.

“Did you not hear what he said?” She asked Denzel

Julian immediately understood the gesture and took a seat beside him. Eden clears his throat before speaking , “Are you truly willing to accept the Magnus name?” He asked, his voice still coming out hoarse despite his earlier actions. Julian appeared surprised, why was Eden questioning him like he had a choice. He was literally forced to be here. A part of him was tempted to say ‘no’, but he held back against it. “I only agreed partly because it was Auntie Lore’s dying wish and because I am choosing to view this as an opportunity to get the life I aspire” Julian responded to him with a straight face. Eden nodded , he respected his honesty and braveness. “Being a Magnus is not only about getting the life you deserve. Yes, you would get the life you deserve but you should also know that it all comes at a cost,” Eden said, a subt

He hummed his favorite lullaby and took a short nap while the car drove. They arrived at the destination and the door was opened by Kian. Julian climbed down from the car and in a span of a second, the entrance was crowded with maids, guards and butlers, lining up having their head bowed down. They genuflected and said in unison. “Welcome back Young Lord!” As soon as they said, the pathway was cleared and Julian’s l

Unfortunately, she did not open her eyes and it was shut forever. ~Beeeppp~ The monitor rang alerting Eden, Smith and his medical team. They rushed into the room and found Julian crying his heart out. He clenched onto her arms begging her to wake up and be alive. Smith dragged Julian away from her and handed him over to the old man. Smith confirmed her death and bowed his head in silence. He raised the blanket and covered her entire body, stepped away from the bed after detaching the monitor and tubes from her body and allowed for her dead body to be rolled out of the room. “12 am in the morning, Miss Lore Harrison passed away from heart stroke. Chapter Eight: Passed away. “What?!” Julian said, his brows furrowed in incomprehension. A few while ago, he had blamed the old man and even dared to beat him till he bled from the right side of his mouth. Now that Smith testified to it and bowed his head as a sign of gratitude to the old man, guilt pricked him. He stared at the smirking old man and followed the doctors to the private, VIP room. “I suppose he also paid for this too?” Julian hovered around Smith’s shoulders and asked. He was regretting everything he had done to this old man. He only wanted his grandson back to him and nothing more. He didn’t plan on harming him either. Could it be they were also the good guys too? Julian in guilt walked inside the room. He brought out a chair for Eden as a sign of gratitude. Five minutes passed and the doctors concluded the medical checkup on Miss Harrison and left, allowing the two of them to be alone. Julian glanced at Eden and he did the same back to Julian. Chapter Seven: Panic attack. “Wait, she did what…?” His calm eyes changed to a fury filled one. “How could she do such a thing to you, man? Did you not say she loved you and would spend her lifetime with you” “I thought so but it seems I was wrong about her. She is like every woman out in the world. She is not special in anyway. I was damn fucking stupid to trust she was different.” Julian balled his fist while he recalled today’s incident. He had been crushed by someone whom he cherished so much. Heartbreak was the very bittersweet truth everyone hated. “Women can never be trusted especially those from the higher rank. They care about themselves and money. Well, you live you learn which my motivation has been since. Mistakes are made to be learnt from. Don’t be down because of a woman. You have other blessed opportunity ahead of you and I know you are a fulfilled individual. No one should belittle you anymore.” “I will remember your words, my good friend and become stronger

The statement written boldly on his phone caused him to be thrown into a dilemma. His legs wobbled and he gazed into the old man’s eyes. “Is three hundred million nothing to you people?” He was on the verge of crying and also, confused by his own identity as Jackson, the young lord heir to the throne.
