"You wish I'd spend my nights sleepless because of you, don't you?" Benjamin scoffed, his voice low but laced with mockery as he fixed his eyes on Marcus.Marcus didn’t flinch. Instead, he tilted his head slightly, lips curling into a sneer. "No, Benjamin. You’re the one still dreaming of having Emily around—still aching from the sting of her leaving you. The automatic doors of the hospital hissed open and shut as Benjamin stepped outside into the crisp afternoon air. The sun was high, but the weight in his chest kept him grounded in a darker place. Before he could take more than a few steps toward the parking lot, his phone buzzed in his coat pocket. He pulled it out and glanced at the screen—Dean Wilde.“Yes, Dean. What is it?” he answered, voice firm but tired.“I just wanted to inform you that the land’s been sold to Emily Walsh,” Dean reported. “We’ve sent her the contract as you requested.”Benjamin gave a short nod, even though no one could see him. The news didn’t bring him relief, only a fleeting sense of completion.“That’s fine. Handle everything on your end. Benjamin considered it again for a moment before giving his reply."Fine, if her company is offering a reasonable amount for it, then I will hand over the land to her." " He replied and cut the call.Emily and Marcus were back at her office, still unable to comprehend why her proposal was rejected."Maybe you should calm down, Marcus. There has to have been some sort of error in the document. I'm sure there's a logical explanation for this." "What?" Marcus asked, his tone laced with surprise."What do you mean he rejected the proposal? What didn’t he like about it?" Emily pressed."In his own words, everything. He called it garbage—the worst proposal he’s ever read, and trust me, he’s read some terrible ones," the secretary replied dismissively.Just then, the elevator doors opened, and a group of men and women stepped out, taking seats in the waiting area."But I personally oversaw my secretary drafting that proposal! I proofread it thoroughly afterward. It’s flawless!" Marcus argued, frustration evident in his voice."This is a solid business plan. It’s for the orphanage, and it would benefit your investment company as well," Emily added, trying to reason with the secretary."I’m not the boss, Miss Walsh. He’s made his decision," the secretary replied curtly.Marcus’s anger flared. "How dare he tarnish the Roberts family name? He should respect our reputation!" he shouted, drawing the attention of everyone in the room.

"He did that? How dare he! Why would Benjamin touch my brother?" Emily freaked out. She picked up her phone and dialed his number but he refused to pick up.The phone rang severally but there was no answer."He isn't picking up. I apologize for this, mother and I assure you that I will get to the bottom of this." Emily muttered and stormed up the company stairs.Disconcerted and upset about Benjamin's actions, she walked into her office and tried calling him again via her office phone, but there was still no response.Shortly, her personal phone rang out, and she picked it up hoping it was Benjamin, but it turned out to be Marcus Roberts."Emily darling, where are you? We were supposed to meet in front of Mr. Dean Wilde's company building." He said to her."I'll be right there." She replied.Hurriedly, she picked up a few documents and rushed out of the office. Emily met Marcus in front of the Sky Line Company building."What took you so long? We almost missed him." Marcus complained.

She ended up nodding in agreement.As she glanced around the hospital, the elevator ahead of them opened, and a tall, handsome middle-aged man with white hair stepped out."Good morning, Sir.""Good morning, Doctor Greg," some of the junior nurses and doctors greeted him.He was the managing director of Clear View Hospital, the largest hospital in New York City, where they currently were."Hello, Mr. Moore," the director acknowledged Benjamin warmly.He was quite familiar with Benjamin but also aware that Benjamin preferred to keep his identity private.After all, Benjamin was one of the hospital's major partners, and the director held him in high regard."Hello, Doctor Greg. Matthew pulled out another knife again and spun it in his hand. "It seems you do not like how calm and reasonable I have been. We will have to resolve this using force!"He launched himself at Benjamin with the knives in his hand.
