"I would like to put an end to the tension and inform you all that my family and I have agreed to support miss Emily Walsh here with a sum of five million dollars in additional donation."

"To end the bids for the night." He smiled to himself proudly, as the audience echoed his sentiment and praise.

"Amazing."

"He is such a supportive man, " whispered some of the women. The crowd continued to buzz wildly with gossip.

Until the host cleared his throat into the microphone, indicating absolute silence. The room went quiet as he spoke.

"That is lovely! I think it is inevitable at this moment, except Miss Williams would like to make a counter bid..." The host inquired.

Amanda looked around the room expecting her assistant to hurry with the donations information she had made in Benjamin's name.

Marcus Roberts and Celine exchanged knowing looks with themselves and Emily, believing that her victory was inevitable at that point.

But suddenly, just as they were about to celebrate their victory,

"You wish I'd spend my nights sleepless because of you, don't you?" Benjamin scoffed, his voice low but laced with mockery as he fixed his eyes on Marcus.Marcus didn’t flinch. Instead, he tilted his head slightly, lips curling into a sneer. "No, Benjamin. You’re the one still dreaming of having Emily around—still aching from the sting of her leaving you. And now that she’s finally seen you for what you are, you feel humiliated."A nerve twitched in Benjamin's jaw. He clenched his teeth and stepped forward. "I have no interest in what Emily does with her life anymore. If she believes you’re the better option, then perhaps she’s more naive than I gave her credit for," he said through gritted teeth. Before anyone could react, Emily flung the glass of water sitting beside her across the room, hitting Benjamin squarely in the chest. The entire room fell silent as the water trickled down his shirt.Benjamin paused, stunned. Then, without a word, he reached for a napkin and began patting

The automatic doors of the hospital hissed open and shut as Benjamin stepped outside into the crisp afternoon air. The sun was high, but the weight in his chest kept him grounded in a darker place. Before he could take more than a few steps toward the parking lot, his phone buzzed in his coat pocket. He pulled it out and glanced at the screen—Dean Wilde.“Yes, Dean. What is it?” he answered, voice firm but tired.“I just wanted to inform you that the land’s been sold to Emily Walsh,” Dean reported. “We’ve sent her the contract as you requested.”Benjamin gave a short nod, even though no one could see him. The news didn’t bring him relief, only a fleeting sense of completion.“That’s fine. Handle everything on your end. I don’t want to be involved in any follow-up,” he said curtly, running a hand across his brow as frown lines creased deeper into his forehead. He had bigger things on his mind—more pressing, more dangerous.Just then, the sound of screeching tires drew his attention. Benjamin considered it again for a moment before giving his reply."Fine, if her company is offering a reasonable amount for it, then I will hand over the land to her." He replied in a thick barritone. On noticing that after everything, Benjamin still cared for Emily, Dean decided to sell the land to her."Alright, boss, as you wish. " He replied and cut the call.Emily and Marcus were back at her office, still unable to comprehend why her proposal was rejected."Maybe you should calm down, Marcus. There has to have been some sort of error in the document. I'm sure there's a logical explanation for this." Emily said, trying to pacify Marcus, who had not stopped pacing back and forth."Give me a moment," Marcus replied, taking a phone call outside her office. His mood had been sour ever since they left Skyline company, and he had remained fixed to his phone, making endless calls and sending fruitless text messages.Skyline company was far beyond his family's reach and even if he calle

"What?" Marcus asked, his tone laced with surprise."What do you mean he rejected the proposal? What didn’t he like about it?" Emily pressed."In his own words, everything. He called it garbage—the worst proposal he’s ever read, and trust me, he’s read some terrible ones," the secretary replied dismissively.Just then, the elevator doors opened, and a group of men and women stepped out, taking seats in the waiting area."But I personally oversaw my secretary drafting that proposal! I proofread it thoroughly afterward. It’s flawless!" Marcus argued, frustration evident in his voice."This is a solid business plan. It’s for the orphanage, and it would benefit your investment company as well," Emily added, trying to reason with the secretary."I’m not the boss, Miss Walsh. He’s made his decision," the secretary replied curtly.Marcus’s anger flared. "How dare he tarnish the Roberts family name? He should respect our reputation!" he shouted, drawing the attention of everyone in the room.

"He did that? How dare he! Why would Benjamin touch my brother?" Emily freaked out. She picked up her phone and dialed his number but he refused to pick up.The phone rang severally but there was no answer."He isn't picking up. I apologize for this, mother and I assure you that I will get to the bottom of this." Emily muttered and stormed up the company stairs.Disconcerted and upset about Benjamin's actions, she walked into her office and tried calling him again via her office phone, but there was still no response.Shortly, her personal phone rang out, and she picked it up hoping it was Benjamin, but it turned out to be Marcus Roberts."Emily darling, where are you? We were supposed to meet in front of Mr. Dean Wilde's company building." He said to her."I'll be right there." She replied.Hurriedly, she picked up a few documents and rushed out of the office. Emily met Marcus in front of the Sky Line Company building."What took you so long? We almost missed him." Marcus complained.

She ended up nodding in agreement. As she glanced around the hospital, the elevator ahead of them opened, and a tall, handsome middle-aged man with white hair stepped out."Good morning, Sir.""Good morning, Doctor Greg," some of the junior nurses and doctors greeted him.He was the managing director of Clear View Hospital, the largest hospital in New York City, where they currently were."Hello, Mr. Moore," the director acknowledged Benjamin warmly. He was quite familiar with Benjamin but also aware that Benjamin preferred to keep his identity private. After all, Benjamin was one of the hospital's major partners, and the director held him in high regard."Hello, Doctor Greg. I truly appreciate your help and support in caring for my mother," Benjamin said to him.Doctor Greg shook his hand professionally and nodded politely."It’s no trouble, Mr. Moore. Here at Clear View Hospital, we do our best to provide the utmost care. After all, we are the best in the city," he replied."Shall w

Matthew pulled out another knife again and spun it in his hand. "It seems you do not like how calm and reasonable I have been. We will have to resolve this using force!"He launched himself at Benjamin with the knives in his hand. But Benjamin smoothly sidestepped his attack, which left Matthew to stumble down the sidewalk.Upset that Benjamin had embarrassed him like that, he launched at him again from behind. However, Benjamin caught his arm and twisted his arm until one of the knives fell out of it."You bastard! Let me go!" Matthew yelled out angrily, struggling under Benjamin's strong grip. He successfully pulls out of it and tries to attack him again, Benjamin grabbed Matthew's arm and began slapping him across his face, before delivering a powerful kick to his abdomen, which sent Matthew spiraling across the coal tar."Oh my goodness!" Mrs Walsh exclaimed and rushed over to where Matthew lay, sprawled on the floor."Somebody get me a doctor, please! This man just beat my s

"What about Marcus? Didn't he offer to help?" Celine asked, but before Emily could reply, her phone began to ring.Emily placed the phone to her ear and a familiar masculine voice came over the speaker. It was her Finance officer."Miss Emily, how are you doing today?" He asked her."Not so good. My projects haven't gotten off the ground yet. Tell me, did you find anything?" She asked him."I have good news for you. A benefactor called this morning and insisted on buying the majority shares you placed on sales for your father's company. He seems like a wealthy man and might also be able to help you get your projects off the ground.""What? Really!" Emily screamed out excitedly."Yes." Her finance manager replied."When does he intend to make the payments?" She asked him."Well, he said he would discuss that personally with you when you both meet to finalize the assets procurement." The manager replied."That sounds great! I think we can work with that." She replied happily. She put th

"I'm sorry, Stella. We have to return the money we got from the receiver during the home's auction land that has already been bought." Emily said over her office phone the next morning."The residents only did that because they thought that with their donation and mine, we could pull up a reasonable amount of money to acquire the land, but..."The door to Emily's office opened and shut alarmingly, and Reuben rushed into it with his phone in hand.Emily looked up from the call, surprised by his barging in. "Let me call you back, Stella." She put down the phone."Marcus! Is there a problem?" She asked, frowning at him."Far from it. I finally figured out how that son of a bitch got to donate." He replied ecstatically.Emily bit her bottom lip and twisted her ball pen, a bit agitated by the thought of Benjamin's issues again."Okay? What did you find then?" She asked him."I just got a call from a very reputable source. He told me that this guy was the one who paid for the land." He hand
