The new world tournament was one unique tournament. Despite the fact that it was held by a school and it's participants were staff and students, it still managed to draw worldwide attention. One contributing factor to this could be that the Shin-sekai academy was a prestigious school and was attended by the children of many of the world's elites but the major factor was that it proved to be more entertaining than many others in the world.

The structure of the tournament was divided. The teachers' tournament took place first then the students' came after. After winners had been decided from both sides, the two winners would then have a face off.

The winner of the previous teacher's tournament was Fuji Waramaki who had remained undefeated for five years. He also won all the face-offs with the student champions.

The teachers tournament was full of old faces and the only two new faces in the tournament were Orie and Natsumi. Not many expected a different result from the teachers tournament as much as they did from the students' tournament.

The reigning champion of the students' tournament was Fuji Anato. In case you don't remember him, he was the guy that bullied Marie Rosewell a while back. He was a two-time champion and that meant that he won the tournament in first and second year and was aiming for his third win. He was also aiming to finally defeat his father in the teacher student face-off.

The most promising new faces included Mia who's ability was termed difficult to deal with, Souma Fubuki who was the young master of the house of Fubuki and also Natsumi's younger brother, and Yamato who didn't participate in the last tournament because he was working overtime. Shiro didn't make the official list because despite the rumors about him, no one in the school with the exception of his close friends had actually seen him fight.

Though unofficial, the two that were tagged the least promising were Andrew and Marie Rosewell. Andrew's case was that he got beaten badly in his first qualifying match of the previous tournament and didn't recover until it was over. His opponent was the reigning champion but still....

Marie's case was that everyone knew that she had not yet shown any sign of manifesting new powers. It was not against tournament rules to participate without any powers but it was basically suicide. Despite all these she applied. There were those who suspected that she had something up her sleeve but that thought was discouraged after news came out that her family tried to pull strings to force her out of the tournament. There were many speculations surrounding her participation but the truth was that no one knew what Marie was up to except from her.

Throughout the preparations, the mood was different; it felt as if the sky had dimmed over the entire island. Everyone was engrossed in honing their skills in time for the upcoming challenges and focusing on their victory strategies.

There were those training their bodies, those practicing their moves, those gathering information and those who seemed to not be bothered about any of it.

While all of the school was busy preparing for what was to come, Shiro decided to use this period as a time to rest from all the previous stress. His daily activities were to wake up, get breakfast, sleep, wake up, get lunch at Tanaka's, sleep, wake up, get dinner, watch a movie, sleep. Anyone that saw him would think he participating in the tournament as spectator.

Throughout this period, the hearts of many were filled with anticipation, and it remained that way till the day finally arrived; the first day of the tournament.

SHIN SEKAI SECRET: Dave was banned from participating in the new world tournament. He was labeled too dangerous which came as a surprise to everyone that knew him at the time.

"well, Mr Addison" Ellie said as the camera faced Orie. "What are your thoughts on the current state of the match?" "I'm really not sure" Orie replied "To be honest, this is the first time I've seen Her like that so I don't actually know what to expect" "But if I had to take a guess..." "... I'd say I'm glad she wasn't like this in our match" Natsumi missed her first strike, and her second, and her third, and her fourth, and... all her strikes, she missed all of it. As it turns out, Kurobe had quite the reflex and was really good at evasion and keeping the distance. Every time Natsumi got close, he quickly evaded and put distance between them, pushing her back, attacking from blind spots, setting walls between them and a Whole lot of moves that prevented him from getting hit but that didn't stop his opponent from trying. With each passing second, Natsumi got closer to landing a hit on Kurobe. At first it was him feeling the little breeze as her fist fle

  • Cold hard truth

Many things can anger a fighter. An opponent that toys with them, someone that just won't stay down and in many cases, a direct insult. But none of those things were happening to Kurobe, he was facing something far more annoying; an opponent that isn't paying attention to him. At first glance, it looked like Kurobe was dominating the match without giving his opponent any chance to counter, but there were many times since the beginning of the fight where Natsumi would have been able to strike back but did nothing instead. She had barely moved from where she was standing at the start and she was in deep thought. All Natsumi did from the beginning of the match was to fend off the incoming attacks while thinking about what Orie had said to her. "I have finally seen your true self" "I finally know you" She couldn't muster up the courage to ask him what he meant because she was too afraid of his answer. She was afraid of the truth. "If the real me is a monster...

  • Tears of a beautiful summer

Orie was finally on the offensive. His wind blasts weren't doing much damage but they were strong enough to throw his opponent off balance and disorganize her attacks. He was able to close the distance bit by bit with each successful blast and every one of them hit. Before Natsumi could tell what was going on, Orie was standing directly under her. "White" orie said with a smile as he looked at her from below, then he spun his staff and struck the floor with it. Natsumi immediately turned to guard against it but no wind came from Orie's direction, it came from above and pushed her down. As Natsumi struggled to stand up, Orie began walking towards her and spoke. "I wondered why my prayers weren't working on you" "It would stop you for a brief moment then she'd take care of the rest by will power" "After this encounter, I think I finally figured it out" "The reason why my prayers don't work and who you are" "You are Natsumi" "You are not a spirit tha

"You're usually the first to talk, you know" "Now you have me in an awkward position" "I already know what you want so I'm not going to ask" "But you have to tell me one thing" "HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT IT?" Edwin Law, official and only referee of the tournament. He had been officiating for the past two years but his name became well known after he declared Orie winner over Chris. He was rumored to be one of those who had "god eyes" but that match confirmed to the public that it was true. Eyes that see through deception, eyes that see what is true, eyes that nothing can escape, The eyes of the law.
