Zhang Wei believed it was time for Xiao Chen to step into the harsh world of martial arts. The arrival of warriors seeking the sacred weapon was the perfect opportunity for his only disciple to experience the brutal reality that awaited him once he left the Thousand Ghost Hill.

Yet, he also wondered whether his disciple was ready to fight, given that he had only just regained consciousness.

“This place has never been touched by outsiders, Xiao Chen. Are you sure you’re ready for battle? Remember, you’ve never fought anyone before. Your movements will still be stiff,” Zhang Wei warned.

“Who said I’ve never fought?” Xiao Chen replied with a mysterious smile, glancing toward Benggala, who was sitting by the cave entrance.

Zhang Wei immediately understood the meaning of that glance. “You sparred with him?”

Xiao Chen smiled again and nodded slightly. “We’ve sparred many times, Grandpa. Though we never went all out, Benggala’s claws have scratched my chest before.”

Xiao Chen loosened his clothing to show the scar from their training bouts—but his eyes widened in surprise when he saw that his chest was completely smooth, without a trace of injury.

“Where is it?” he muttered to himself in disbelief.

Zhang Wei smiled at his disciple’s astonishment. The old man had his own theory. “Turn around and face that way!”

Xiao Chen furrowed his brows in confusion but obeyed without question.

“The scars on your back are gone as well, Xiao Chen. This means your rare body has activated—it will heal any open wound on its own,” Zhang Wei explained.

Xiao Chen turned back to face him. “Rare body? I don’t understand.”

“Listen carefully. While you were meditating, I sought answers about you and about the Benggala you saw in your visions. I visited a hermit friend of mine on a distant mountain,” Zhang Wei said, taking a deep breath as he recalled the explanation he had been given. He took three steps toward a wide stone and sat down.

“That Benggala you saw now resides within his own body,” he continued, glancing toward the great beast at the cave’s mouth.

Xiao Chen frowned in confusion, realizing there was still much about the outside world—and the martial realm—that he did not know.

“As for the rare body you possess, it is both a blessing and a curse. Such a body appears only once every ten thousand years, and it is truly extraordinary. But it comes with reversed blood flow—something that can become a great misfortune if no one capable of restoring it to normal appears in your lifetime,” Zhang Wei explained.

“What’s the danger of reversed blood flow, Grandpa?”

“You cannot fight for long. You will never be able to use your full inner strength. If you force yourself to battle for more than two hours, your heart will explode, and you will die.”

“I see… But can’t you fix it so my blood flows normally?” Xiao Chen asked.

Zhang Wei shook his head. “Only certain people can do that. One day, if fate allows, you’ll meet such a person. That is—if you’re still alive, hahahaha!”

Xiao Chen frowned at the unpleasant remark but soon laughed along.

“I understand now. Out there, I will face countless warriors. If I can’t survive, then I’ll never meet the one you speak of.”

“Hahahaha! Good, then remember this—never show mercy to your opponent. End every fight quickly, because you will also be fighting against time and your own inner strength,” Zhang Wei said.

The old man then recalled the flash of blue light he had seen bursting from within Xiao Chen’s cloth bundle. But before he could ask about it, he remembered that he needed to meditate.

“Xiao Chen… Go out and train! But stay away from this place so your energy doesn’t disturb the natural balance here. I’m going to meditate,” Zhang Wei instructed.

“Can I bring Benggala with me?”

“Leave Benggala here to stand guard.”

“Very well, Grandpa. Then I’ll train at the waterfall,” Xiao Chen replied.

“Go! I’ll join you later.”

Xiao Chen nodded, took the Demon Wolf Sword, and strapped it tightly to his back. Walking to the cave’s entrance, he gently stroked Benggala’s head.

“Don’t wander off—watch over Grandpa.”

Grrrrrrgh! Benggala growled as if in response.

Xiao Chen looked up at the bright sky above. “A perfect day for training,” he murmured.

With sharp features, a strong jawline, and eyes as keen as a hawk’s, the young man jogged away from the cave.

His pace grew faster—three to four times faster than normal—without him even realizing why. His inner strength was naturally reacting, creating what the martial world called Light Body Technique. But in his case, it wasn’t intentional; it was purely the instinctive awakening of his innate power.

Since Zhang Wei had never taught him this technique, Xiao Chen didn’t recognize it. All he knew was that he felt incredibly energized, not even slightly fatigued despite his speed.

Before long, he reached the waterfall where he had once meditated—only to find the pool beneath it nearly filled with rocks and boulders.

“What happened here? Who did this? That wretch! If I find them, I’ll snap their neck!”

Suspicion flared in his mind. He suspected someone was trying to bury the pool so he could no longer bathe there.

Before starting his training, Xiao Chen quenched his thirst with the cool water. Then he walked to the open clearing where he often sparred with Benggala.

The waterfall was surrounded by dense forest, and even the towering cliffs above were thick with trees. To Xiao Chen, it was the perfect training ground.

But what he didn’t realize was that, while he practiced and rehearsed the techniques he had memorized, four pairs of eyes were watching him from the shadows of the trees.

  • The Surprise

Before long, Song Wei and Xiu Lung emerged through the sect’s gate. Both of them laughed loudly, full of triumph, imagining that the man who had ruined Grand Minister Yao Li’s plan would soon die a miserable death. A few seconds later, another old man—with long white eyebrows and white hair tied up in a topknot—followed them out and stood beside Xiu Lung. "These are the two who dared to challenge our sect, Sect Leader," Xiu Lung said, trying to incite the old man beside him. Hearing Xiu Lung’s dishonest words, Xiao Chen’s mind began to work. He suspected that the leader of the Eternal Sword Sect had no idea about Song Wei and Xiu Lung’s role in supporting Grand Minister Yao Li’s coup against Emperor Cheng Ho. "That’s rich coming from you!" Xiao Ji snapped angrily. "Wasn’t it you two who challenged my friend to come to the foot of Mount Kahuripan?" "Don’t lie!" Song Wei shouted, putting on a fake look of conviction. "We are

  • The Eternal Sword Sect

Xiao Chen smiled faintly as he heard the man’s words. "I’ll say this one last time," he said, spinning the twig in his hand a little faster. "Where are those two cowardly old men? My business is only with them—not with the entire Eternal Sword Sect." "Just admit you’re afraid to face all of us!" the yellow-skinned man taunted. "The word ‘fear’ doesn’t exist in my dictionary! Don’t regret it when your lives are lost for the sake of those two cowards!" After responding to the taunt, Xiao Chen quickly attacked one of the four men, thrusting the end of his twig toward the man’s head. But he was forced to pull back and jump several steps backward as two other attacks threatened his ribs and stomach. "Annoying, but weak attacks like these won’t hurt me!" the handsome young man muttered before increasing his speed. He launched another series of faster, continuous attacks at the two closest enemies. The two men targeted

  • The Battle Begins

For quite some time, the two of them sat silently on their horses, scanning the area—but there was not a single sign of the two old warriors anywhere. "Do you think they’re avoiding the main road?" Xiao Chen asked. "It’s possible," Xiao Ji replied. "From what Uncle Sutejo said last night, the Eternal Sword Sect is supposed to be on the right side of the main road—but I don’t see any footpath at all." Xiao Chen leaped off his horse and walked forward, his eyes fixed on the right side of the road, searching for tracks or any evidence that their enemies were nearby. But he found nothing—nothing to satisfy his curiosity. "Did you find anything?" Xiao Ji asked, still sitting on his horse. Xiao Chen shook his head slowly. "Could they have another path?" "You mean a different footpath?" Xiao Ji asked again. "Yeah. Did you see any footpath leading to the right before we got here?" Xiao Ji turned aroun

  • Arrival at the Foot of Mount Kahuripan

Grand Minister Yao Li also broke into a wide grin. The foot of Mount Kahuripan was where the Eternal Sword Sect was based—and if the warrior who had killed his personal guards dared to show up there, it would be like handing over his own life. Song Wei and Xiu Lung would surely deploy nearly two hundred sect members to gang up on him. "In that case, we shall take our leave, My Lord," Xiu Lung said. "We have a surprise prepared for that cursed warrior!" "Go, Masters," Yao Li replied. "Make sure that scum dies tomorrow. Bring me his head, and I will reward each of you with a pouch of gold coins." Song Wei and Xiu Lung bowed respectfully before exiting. Their minds were already filled with visions of the fifty gold coins each that would soon be in their hands. Meanwhile, in the palace, Emperor Cheng Ho and Grand Minister Tian Long were still waiting for word from the soldiers about the explosion they had heard. Both men were growing impatient, ea

  • The Delayed Duel

The old man growled in fury. He had never imagined that the young warrior’s initial attack had been nothing but a trick. Decades spent in the martial arts world—filled with bloodshed and lost lives—had amounted to nothing in the face of this boy. A moment later, Song Wei coughed softly, and fresh blood spurted from his lips. "Heh heh heh," Xiao Chen chuckled, his voice laced with mockery. "I thought the two of you were stronger than the men I killed last night. But it turns out your skills are no more than this." Song Wei felt as if he had been struck by lightning at the young man’s taunt. "You bastard!" he roared. Watching his comrade be humbled in just a few moves was almost unbearable for Xiu Lung. He rushed over to Song Wei, ready to help his friend fight back against Xiao Chen. "Are you alright?" Xiu Lung asked, his eyes scanning Song Wei for injuries. "I’m fine—just a minor wound," Song Wei replied, his gaze fixe

  • The Battle

Xiao Chen’s eyes narrowed as he realized he had been lured into a trap. Yet not a single trace of fear touched his mind—in fact, a wide grin spread across his face, as if he were throwing down a challenge to the dozens of men standing before him. Moments later, around fifty more uniformed soldiers emerged from the darkness of the night, joining the group that was already gathered. All of them stared daggers at the young man who seemed to possess not an ounce of fear. "You have made a terrible mistake," Xiao Chen declared, his voice ringing clear and steady. "Tonight, you have all thrown away your lives for the sake of supporting a traitor!" "Enough talk! Attack him!" one of the men shouted, giving the order. The combined force of roughly eighty soldiers and martial artists charged forward, attacking Xiao Chen with brutal ferocity. All of them shared the same ambition: to claim the huge reward Grand Minister Yao Li had promi
