The Top Student

Henry finally received the acceptance letter from the academy, he got in through the recommendation of Mr. Dawson. The school won't have accepted him even if he paid his entrance fee, they haven't seen an E rank mage before, and they would've turned him down to cover the academy image.

With Mr. Dawson's recommendation, the school doesn't know his rank, they believe he is a top class mage from Bloom area, although he is, but nobody knows, they will think he is an E rank mage which Henry wants.

He doesn't want to expose this power until he reaches S rank level. According to the system, he can reveal his true class if he wants, but it's advisable to be at the highest level then, which Henry supports.

He came out from the house and faced his family once more.

“I am leaving”

Henry had a hard time convincing them about his power, that he is a regular E rank mage. They believe him after continues repetition of the same words.

“Do your best. Don't go beyond your limit. Anything you can achieve will be appreciated”

Henry squats in front of Lora.

“I promise. Before one month. I will get your treatment money, and you will be able to walk freely”

Lora nods listening to her bother words. She hugs him one more time, she hopes he becomes a good mage, and prove everybody wrong. Henry takes the bus to the academy.

He has already structured his plan, as soon as he reaches the academy, he is going to get the mage license, and join the bounty hunter to explore the outside zone, before one month, he should be counting over Lora treatment bills.

Henry arrived at the academy. He could see the big status of Dean Hunter. The head of the public guardian association.

They oversee all the bounty hunters and they play a big role in making sure the military abide to the needs of the public. Henry doesn't know the biggest fish among them, but he knows the military main task is to occupy more land while the public guardians ensure the safety of the people inside the walls.

Henry entered inside the academy and the microphone sounded.

“All students should gather at the assembly hall. The principal is making an announcement about the new rules to welcome the new set of mages”

Henry felt mighty hearing those words. He brought his phone out and he located the school assembly hall, with the school map. He reached there, and the meeting was already commencing. It seems there was no time to waste anyway.

The principal. Mr. Liam was beaming as he watched the students troop inside the hall, this year mages were promising, even the local Cherry City got a good record this time.

It's all thanks to Dean Hunter for sending his son to attend Cherry City academy, with that, many top families and investors came along. This was a strategy to boost people's confidence about the protection wall, since many are scared of staying in Cherry City, because it's closest to the wall.

“Good day. Promising Hero and heroine of Blue Terrain. Today is the starting of another year of the long-lasting mage academy. Everybody is here to sharpen their ability and skills, and we are here to help you achieve that dream of becoming useful to the society”

Everybody clapped to Mr. Liam's words, and he continues with the principles and road map of the academy. While others were bored, Henry was energetic, there are so many things to do in the academy, however he was waiting for a particular one.

“One of the rules has been changed. Students won't be given mage license until they reached Year two in the academy. This was done to ensure the safety of mages and increase the quality of younger mages. The rest rules you knew are still the same. Now, I am going to welcome the top class talent of last year”

Henry's heart seized when he heard the principal words. He couldn't believe they cancelled the students getting license at year one. That was the only way to fetch money for Lora's treatment, how is he going to get the money now.

Henry was bittered by it, he wanted to see his sister walk before her upcoming birthday, but that won't get to happen, until he reaches year two, Lora will still be in her wheelchair.

Henry's fist tightened more, he must apologize to Lora when this gathering is over, and he must plead with her to wait for next year. He gazed up hearing the principal words.

“To those who have brought honor to the academy and themselves. I welcome. The top student of Cherry City academy. Selena James”

Everybody clapped as she approached the stage. Henry watched her step forward with big eyes.

He couldn't believe the principal words. He remembers her immediately, but she looks more beautiful now, and she was putting on a year Three uniform. He couldn't believe she was from Cherry City academy.

Selena accepted the principal handshake and the head of the Lane family.

“Selena all by herself took down a D rank monster which was one step away from entering ultimate form”

Henry Jaws slacked, he couldn't believe this girl took his credits. He wish he could come out and disgrace her, but that will be him exposing himself, and he fears she might recognize him, even though the system wiped their memories of him.

Murmuring follows immediately.

“That is incredible. one B rank mage doesn't stand a chance against a D rank monster at legend level. She must be talented”

“She is remarkable”

Henry was only more annoyed hearing their praises for somebody who wanted to abandon a captive.

Mr. Liam clears his throat to seize the noise in the hall, when everybody was quiet, he points to Selena.

“Selena here has been invited to join the White Eagles, her outstanding job didn't go without recognition”

Everybody was shocked hearing the principal words. They jammed their hands clapping immediately. The White Eagles are the best bounty hunters in the Blue Terrain. They don't accept people, let alone invite, Selena must be beyond talented to be invited to the White Eagles.

Mr. Liam hands the microphone to Selena.

“Please address these newcomers”

Selena wanted to decline, but some people started voicing out.

“Please lady Selena, address us”

“We love you lady Selena”

“We want to be like you”

she had no choice than to accept the microphone, she faces the crowds and smiled.

“Mr Liam is correct. I have been invited by the White Eagles, and I am going to accept the invitation. It's not about being in the top academy like Silverstone or Ocean Berry. It's about your skills and the way you sharpen them”

Henry frowns more listening to Selena. She will do better in the movie industry rather than being a mage

“Even the lowest rank, which is C rank can become a great mage, if he or she gives everything he has. I have many C rank friends, and they are—”

“Lady Selena”

A girl from the crowds cut her off, Henry turned back because the girl was behind him. Everybody turned to face her, she better say something meaningful.

“How can I help you”

She points to Henry and uttered.

“This guy class is E rank”
