Felix opened the door to the CEO's office and found Kimber Kim lounging on the couch with a laptop resting on his lap. It looked like he was casually browsing the internet.

As soon as he saw Felix, Kimber's face lit up. He quickly set the laptop aside and stood up, beaming.

“Hey, Felix! How’s my boy doing?” the old man greeted warmly.

“I’m good, Dad,” Felix replied with a smile.

Kimber motioned for him to sit beside him, and Felix did just that. After a brief pause, Kimber asked thoughtfully, “So, which department are you planning to work in?”

“I want to intern in the finance department.”

“That’s a smart choice. You need to stay low and avoid unnecessary risks.”

“Yeah, Dad. So… I’ll officially begin today?”

“Yes, son. But…” Kimber leaned in, his tone softening. “Be careful, Felix.”

Felix noticed the concern in his father’s eyes and smiled. “Got it, Dad. I’ll be fine. I should get going now.”

Kimber nodded, and Felix stood up, heading straight for the finance department. He ignored the curious stares from other employees. They didn't matter to him anyway.

Settling into his seat, he began reviewing the files on his desk.

A few minutes later...

“Ugh, why is the manager always coming in here?”

“I know, right? He keeps using random excuses just to snoop around.”

“Maybe he’s checking our progress… or spying.”

The murmurs from the ladies in the department were getting too much and Felix could not help but raise his head to see who it was that came in.

Surprisingly, it was Fred in their department and it seemed like he was searching for something.

Felix could not help but frown, seeing his sneaky behavior. Even his eyes carried an unusual scrutiny. Fred wasn’t just inspecting; he was scanning like he was searching for something. And why acting weird?

He didn’t even acknowledge Felix, which was unusual for someone who’d have gone out of his way to insult him.

When Fred finally left, the murmurs intensified.

Felix turned to the female worker beside him and called for her attention. “Excuse me, miss?”

The lady, who was chatting with her friend, frowned and glanced over, annoyed. “What?”

“Sorry to bother you, but… you mentioned earlier that he always comes here?”

The woman immediately perked up. “Oh yeah! That manager? He’s constantly popping in, claiming he’s checking documents. But I swear, he’s up to something!”

Felix’s frown deepened. Why is Fred so interested in finance files? Is there a hidden motive? The fact that he didn’t even look at Felix made things more suspicious.

These questions ran into Felix mind as he concluded to round up his work sooner and report it to his father.

“Hey, son. Is everything alright?” Kimber asked as Felix entered. He noticed his son’s tense expression.

"Dad, I found something unusual and suspicious."

Kimber’s brows furrowed. “Go on.”

“It’s Fred Meyer, the manager. Apparently, he’s always in the finance department, rummaging through desks and cabinets.”

Kimber looked both confused and surprised. “That doesn’t make sense. What’s he after?”

“I don’t know, but we need to keep an eye on him. His behavior isn’t normal.”

“You’re right,” Kimber nodded. “We don’t know what he’s looking for. Keep an eye on him.”

"Alright dad," Felix said as he left the office.

---

Later that afternoon, during the lunch break, the finance department was empty. Felix was about to leave when he heard faint noises coming from the inner room where confidential files were stored.

He crept over and saw that the door was slightly ajar.

Peeking in, he saw documents scattered on the floor.

He glanced round the room and saw that no one was there, so he strolled round silently. Almost immediately, he saw Fred rummaging through the shelves and tossing some folders aside like he was searching for something very specific.

Felix quickly ducked behind a filing cabinet, keeping out of sight.

*

Fred finally located something and stuffed several files into a bag, about to leave when he suddenly heard a deep voice behind him.

"Hey," Kimber Kim called and he jolted in surprise.

Felix already informed his father about it as he brought some guards with him.

Fred’s face went pale. He didn't expect to be caught at that time and wondered how he was caught. How did they know? Who told them?

From the main office, Felix watched the scene unfold, pretending to be busy at his desk. He saw Fred stiffen, clearly caught off guard.

Trying to regain his composure, Fred turned with a forced smile. “Good day, sir,” he muttered, bowing slightly.

Kimber scoffed. “Mr. Meyer, I believe this isn’t your office. Or am I mistaken?”

He pointed to the bag Fred clutched. “What’s in there, anyway?”

“Oh… this?” Fred chuckled nervously, trying to put on a normal face even though his hands was shaking. “It’s nothing much…it’s just a departmental project, sir.”

“Is that so?” Kimber said with a raised brow. “Good. You may go, then.”

Fred started walking out, avoiding Kimber’s intense and intimidating stare.

He had barely reached the door when...

"One moment Fred." Kimber Kim's voice made him halt.

He turned slowly. “Yes, sir?”

“No problem. I’d just like to go through that departmental project of yours… if you don’t mind.”

Fred's heart sank immediately hearing those words. He was shivering in silence and confused about what to say.

“Sir, well… It's confidential. When the project is completed, we—”

Kimber cut him off sharply…

  • 213: I own your eyes now

The sound of Mark’s laughter echoed across the warehouse, bouncing off the cracked walls like a nightmare that refused to die. Felix stood in place, every muscle in his body ready. Jake’s hand twitched near his gun. The others spread out, forming a loose semicircle around Mark. Something was off about Mark. He definitely wasn't the same spoilt brat he knew months ago. “Been a long time, Felix,” Mark stepped closer. “Ahhh...Who would have guessed that the Carlos' houseboy was the son of the quadrillionaire? I was so stupid to not have noticed.” Felix’s eyes darkened, clenching his fists. He didn’t like getting reminded of that. “You haven’t changed at all.” “Oh, I have.” Mark tilted his head. “You just don’t like what I’ve become.” “You mean a stalker?” Jake growled. Mark smirked. “Big words from the guard dog.” Jake’s jaw flexed, but Felix lifted a hand slightly, stopping him. Mark chuckled, his gaze sliding back to Felix. “You know, I still remember the orphanage whe

Shadow straightened. “That’s him?” Jake didn’t blink. “It’s him.” Xander leaned forward. “You sure?” Jake nodded. “Positive. I’ve seen this bastard too many times in the footage. Same height. Same wrist mark.” The Reaper tilted his head slightly. “Where was this taken?” Jake’s fingers flew again. “EastValley city, near an old warehouse district. The cameras caught him three nights in a row, between midnight and two a.m.” “Pattern,” Shadow said simply. “Yeah,” Jake breathed. “He’s staying somewhere near there. Maybe an apartment, maybe a hideout.” The room went quiet for a second. Only the whir of the computers filled the air. Then Silas spoke. “We’ll move tonight.” Shadow hesitated. “We don’t even know what’s inside that warehouse—” Reaper gave him a cold look. “We’ll find out.” Xander cracked his knuckles, a grin flickering across his face. “It’s been a while since we stretched our legs.” Phantom looked up from his earpiece. “Already scanning the area.
