The Grand Courtyard of the Azure Sky Sect was a sea of bright turquoise silk and golden banners.

Over five hundred inner disciples stood in rigid formation, their silver swords catching the first bloody rays of the morning sun. High atop the marble pavilion, the elders sat in carved jade thrones. In the center of it all stood Mo Fan. He wore the heavy, embroidered robes of the Crown Disciple, a manic, triumphant smile plastered across his face. Next to him stood Ning’er, looking like an immortal goddess in her pristine bridal silk.

"Today," the Grand Sect Master's voice boomed across the plaza, vibrating with the weight of a Nascent Soul powerhouse. "We celebrate the passing of the torch. Though we mourn the tragic cultivation backfire of our former disciple Li Xuan, the heavens have blessed us with a new sun. Mo Fan, step forward and present your offering to the ancestors!"

Mo Fan bowed deeply, reaching into his silk sleeve. He pulled out a velvet pouch, untying the golden strings to reveal the glittering, radiant emerald shards of Li Xuan’s stolen jade core. The raw spiritual energy leaking from the pouch was so dense that a fragrant, green mist instantly drifted across the marble pavilion.

The crowd of disciples gasped in awe. The elders nodded in greedy satisfaction.

"With these sacred fragments refined into my own body," Mo Fan declared, his voice filled with an arrogant, unchecked pride, "I swear to lead the Azure Sky Sect to conquer the entire"

BOOM!

A thunderous explosion cut him off mid-sentence.

The grand, hundred-ton white marble gates of the Azure Sky Sect didn't just break—they were violently kicked completely off their iron hinges, flying a hundred feet through the air before smashing brutally onto the stone plaza, crushing three golden banners into splinters.

The music stopped. The five hundred disciples spun around, their breaths catching in their throats. The elders rose from their jade thrones in absolute shock.

Through the swirling white marble dust and the morning mist, a single figure walked into the courtyard.

He wore tattered, mud-drenched grey robes that were ripped completely down the center. His long black hair floated wildly around his shoulders like dark snakes. Across his chest and torso, a glowing web of jagged, dark emerald cracks pulsed violently, illuminating the dark, hollow void where his dantian used to be.

But it was his eyes that made the five hundred disciples take a collective step backward in primal terror. They were two blinding, bottomless pools of absolute white light, completely devoid of any human mercy.

Li Xuan had returned.

"Li... Li Xuan?!" Mo Fan’s voice cracked, dropping his velvet pouch onto the marble floor. His face turned the color of a dead corpse, his knees shaking violently beneath his Crown Disciple robes. "No... it's impossible... You were gutted! Your core was smashed! You should be rotting in the abyss!"

Ning’er let out a sharp, horrified shriek, hiding behind her father's jade throne.

Li Xuan didn't look at the disciples. He didn't look at the elders. His glowing white eyes locked directly onto Mo Fan’s trembling face. Each step he took against the marble floorboards left a cracked, dark emerald footprint that sizzled with raw, fragmented power.

"Mourning my tragic death?" Li Xuan spoke softly, but his voice was layered with a terrifying, metallic echo that shook the tiles on the roofs. "Celebrating my plunder? Brother, you didn't even wait for my body to turn cold before slipping into my robes."

"Guards! Kill him! He’s a demonic imposter!" the Grand Sect Master roared, his face twisting in sudden fury as he realized the truth of the crime. "Execute him on the spot!"

Thirty elite Inner Disciple guards, all at Level 8 and Level 9 of Qi Refining, drew their silver swords and lunged from the stairs. Their blades turned into a flashing wall of steel, cutting through the air from all directions to mince Li Xuan into pieces.

"Level 3 Fractured Ascension," Li Xuan whispered, his dark emerald cracks flaring with a violent, blinding light. "Let us see whose steel is sharper."

He didn't draw a weapon. He didn't dodge. He simply slammed his bare right hand heavily against the marble floor beneath his feet.

SHRREEEEEE!

A sound like ten thousand mirrors shattering at high speed detonated through the courtyard.

A violent, catastrophic hurricane of hundreds of razor-sharp, dark emerald energy shards erupted outward from his body in a massive, spinning circle. The energy blades didn't just cut—they reflected the incoming momentum of the guards' swords, multiplying the force tenfold and throwing it back into their faces.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

All thirty silver swords were instantly shattered into dust. Before the guards could even register the shock, the emerald shards ripped through their turquoise silk robes and their heavy iron armor, slicing their veins and muscles with surgical, terrifying precision.

"AAAHHHH!"

Thirty elite guards flew backward in thirty different directions, crashing onto the marble plaza, clutching their bleeding limbs, completely crippled and unable to stand. Not a single one of them had even managed to touch a strand of Li Xuan’s hair.

Li Xuan walked through the sea of groaning, defeated guards, his boots crunching on the broken pieces of their silver swords. He stopped at the base of the grand pavilion stairs, looking up at Mo Fan, who was now clutching his own chest in sheer, paralyzed terror.

"Mo Fan," Li Xuan murmured, a cold, bloodthirsty smile stretching across his jade-cracked face. "You broke my foundation to keep me on my knees. Now watch me ascend using the very shards you left in the mud."

The Grand Sect Master could no longer sit still. His Nascent Soul pressure exploded outward, turning the sky dark as he stepped to the edge of the pavilion. "Arrogant whelp! You dare riot in my sect?! Activate the Azure Sky Sword Array! Turn this sinner into ash!"

High above the clouds, the sect's ultimate defensive formation activated. Ten thousand giant, glowing blue swords materialized in the sky, their tips all pointing directly down toward Li Xuan's head, ready to rain down and obliterate everything within miles.

Li Xuan looked up at the ten thousand god-level swords, his white eyes flashing with a manic, terrifying dark amusement.

He didn't run. He slowly opened both his palms, the ten thousand jagged jade shards inside his stomach spinning with an explosive, hungry velocity, ready to swallow the sky.

"An array?" Li Xuan whispered, his dark emerald hurricane expanding until it cracked the grand pavilion stairs. "You think your tiny array can contain a shattered soul? Watch me feed your sky to my ruins."
