Chapter 7: Innocent Milvin?

Ethan tried every dish on the table and could tell that even an ordinary dish, once it passed through Milvin’s hands, was truly elevated to a whole new level. However, the shrimp dish was still the most special and the most unfamiliar to his palate.

After a long, exhausting day of work, Ethan had thought he would have to face all the obstacles and confront the reality of this world alone. Yet as he held Milvin and fell asleep, he still felt as if everything was just a dream.

“Thank you for appearing in my life, Milvin,” Ethan said softly in the darkness.

Milvin hugged Ethan tightly, burying his head against Ethan’s chest, and shook his head. "It is because of you that my existence has meaning, Ethan."

Ethan did not quite understand what Milvin meant by those words. By the time he asked again, Milvin was already fast asleep, his breathing steady and even.

Ethan buried his face in Milvin’s hair, feeling that Milvin always seemed to carry a faint, milky sweetness about him.

The corners of his lips lifted slightly as he, too, drifted off to sleep.

Elsewhere, Lily was still awake.

She carried the little kitten home, and as soon as she arrived, she received a phone call from her close friend, who was also the male lead of this world, Benjamin.

For a brief moment, Ethan’s gentle, smiling face surfaced in Lily’s mind.

She could not help feeling a little flustered. She shook her head, pushing those thoughts away, and smiled lightly as she said, “It was fine.” After a short pause, she added, “I met Ethan.”

At the same time, she had a faint sense that their original plan might fail. Although Ethan truly treated her well, Lily could not help feeling uneasy. Would Ethan really fall for her?

Lily herself did not know what she was avoiding.

At this moment, Benjamin spoke again. “He didn’t do anything to you, did he?”

Hearing this, Lily could not help but feel a sweetness rise in her heart. “I’m willing, Benjamin. I know The Culinary Crown is about to begin, but make sure to take care of your health.”

Benjamin seemed to chuckle softly. “I’ll definitely bring first place back for us, Lily. Then everything will get better.”

Lily smiled and nodded, then hung up the phone.

Noticing the little cat staring at her intently, she smiled slightly. “He is… my friend. One day, I’ll take you to meet him.”

The kitten let out a soft meow, as if it truly understood what Lily had said.

Lily could not help laughing. She gently tapped its nose, then prepared to eat a simple dinner before going to bed.

Ethan’s biological clock woke him up at seven o’clock. Acting on instinct, he tried to move, only to immediately realize that his left arm had almost completely gone numb.

Seeing that Milvin was still sleeping soundly, Ethan could not help but feel a little stunned. He even forgot to withdraw the arm Milvin was using as a pillow.

Where were Milvin’s ears and horns?!

Ethan felt as if he could hear the sound of his heart shattering.

What was going on? Maybe Milvin had retracted his ears to sleep more comfortably? Ethan comforted himself like that, then carefully pulled his arm out.

By the time Ethan finished getting ready and came back out, Milvin was no longer on the bed.

Ethan reached out, grabbed Milvin’s hand, and pulled her up.

Milvin panicked slightly and fell into Ethan’s chest. Ethan stood firm, not swaying in the slightest.

Milvin blinked up at Ethan. “Master, aren’t you eating? Is it not good?”

Ethan shook his head. “I’ve already eaten.”

Milvin immediately grew worried. “Eating so quickly isn’t good for your stomach…”

Ethan’s finger suddenly touched Milvin’s lips. She fell silent at once, her large, round eyes looking innocent and adorable.

Ethan himself did not know whether Milvin was truly this naïve, or if she was doing it on purpose. Or perhaps she simply did not understand what it meant to expose her skin like this. Or maybe she was being seductive without realizing it. But right now, Ethan said seriously, “We’re buying clothes for you.”

He pulled Milvin over to the sofa and handed her his phone. “Buy a few outfits here for now. Tomorrow I’ll take you to the store to buy more.” He also needed to have some dresses custom-made for Milvin. Tailored ones would definitely look better, and Milvin would surely like them.

Milvin held the phone, wondering if it was because she was not pretty and Ethan did not want to look at her.
