Alex

One of the staff members helped with my luggage while the rest escorted me into an elegant, quiet VIP lounge. It was spacious, reserved exclusively for VIP guests.

The atmosphere was relaxing and cozy.

“Please, sir, if there’s ever anything you want, do let us know.”

I nodded once, offering her a small smile. “I will,” I assured her.

The lady returned my smile before turning around and walking away.

I watched her for a moment until she disappeared from sight, then walked over to one of the seats.

I was starting a new phase of my life soon.

Finally.

I was due for a change a long time ago anyway.

Suddenly, a soft huff reached my ears, pulling me out of my thoughts.

I looked up, my gaze sweeping around the lounge.

Could my ears have been playing tricks on me?

Before I could think much of it, someone stood up at the far end of the lounge.

Judging by her clothes, even beneath the heavy suit coat, I concluded she was definitely a woman.

And when she eventually turned in my direction, my assumption was confirmed.

Though I still couldn’t see her face properly. A black face mask covered the lower half of it, while a pair of large sunglasses concealed her eyes.

She hesitated for a moment, our eyes meeting before she started walking toward me.

Her high heels clicked sharply against the floor with every step.

She stopped right in front of me, barely reaching my shoulder, then removed her sunglasses with such force that I almost expected the frames to snap in her hands.

“Excuse me, sir!” she drawled sarcastically. “What are you doing here?”

I blinked, momentarily more surprised by her appearance than her confrontation.

She snapped her fingers in front of my face, pulling my attention back to her.

Her eyes were blue like the ocean, but that was about all I could make out. The face mask had successfully hidden her nose and mouth.

“My eyes are up here,” she said sharply. “I don’t know how you snuck in here, but you have to leave immediately. I booked the entire lounge, and it’s supposed to be only me here.”

I stared at her, completely taken aback.

I hadn’t asked to come here in the first place. The staff had led me here, so there was no way I was the one who had made a mistake.

The woman regarded me for a moment before releasing an impatient sigh. She turned away, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Fine!” she suddenly, startling me.

She turned back toward me.

“Stop acting. I’ll sign an autograph for you. So just grab this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and get out.”

Her eyes seemed to soften slightly as she looked at me.

“And don’t play these cheap tricks to get my attention anymore. Well, I won’t remember you anyway.”

I continued staring at her, completely lost.

Judging by her clothes, she looked expensive.

But why would I want an autograph from her?

Or had she gone crazy?

“Where is it?” she suddenly shouted, startling me for the second time.

Now, I could confidently say she had truly lost it.

“You want an autograph and you didn’t come with a pen or paper? Am I supposed to make you one?” she demanded, her voice rising with a hint of anger.

I released an exasperated sighed. “Why would I want an autograph from you?”

For a brief moment, I could see the shock ripple through her eyes.

She stared at me as though I had just spoken another language.

Then, slowly, she removed her face mask, revealing a face that could only be described as beautiful.

She had the kind of delicate features that spoke of both beauty and trouble. The sort of face that had clearly received plenty of care and attention, making her look almost unreal.

Yet, despite all that, I still couldn’t identify her.

“Now you’ve seen my face. Let’s get this done with,” she said impatiently. “I don’t have all day. Besides, if my private jet weren’t undergoing maintenance, I wouldn’t even be here taking a commercial flight.”

Oh, she must be wealthy.

“I’m sorry, but who are you?” I asked.

That seemed to shock her even more.

She stared at me for a moment, skepticism filling her eyes.

“What is all this about?” A soft voice suddenly cut through the silence, breaking the tension between us.

The staff member approached, looking between the two of us.

The stranger sighed, turning toward her. The annoyance immediately returned to her face.

“What is all this about? How did you allow this loser in? Can’t you people protect my privacy?”

The staff member glanced at me, then back at her. She moved a little closer, lowering her voice so her next words wouldn’t carry across the lounge.

“I’m sorry, Miss Amanda, but you’ve misunderstood. Mr. Alex booked his ticket before you did. He is our top-tier VIP guest.”

Amanda’s face reddened instantly and her gaze flicked from me to the staff member.

“Didn’t I buy out the lounge?”

The staff member shook her head gently. “You booked it late, ma’am. So we couldn’t cancel the existing reservation. I’m terribly sorry.”

Amanda hesitated then she quickly put her face mask back on and turned toward me.

“You!” she muttered through clenched teeth.

She shoved her sunglasses back onto her face before scuttling away.

I watched her go, utterly baffled.

Who exactly was she?

“I’m sorry, Mr. Alex, for the inconvenience,” the staff member said with a short bow but I barely heard her.

My attention remained on Amanda.

Even after she stopped in her tracks, she turned around to throw one last venomous glare in my direction.

Okay, my new life was already getting interesting.

But I could practically see the rage burning inside her.“I will not allow this!” she finally said, opening her eyes to look at us again. “There’s no way you will marry such a poor, low-level man. I might as well sleep through it.I closed my eyes and soon drifted off.“Hello, sir.” A soft voice reached me through the haze of unconsciousness.I jerked awake, blinking a few times before finding one of the flight attendants standing beside my seat with a wide smile.“Sir, we’ve landed,” she said softly. My gaze immediately swept around the cabin. The first thing I noticed was that Amanda had already disembarked.“I’ll escort you to the exclusive arrival lounge,” the attendant added, straightening up.I nodded once and stoo
