Sera looked toward the door.
A man in a shabby shirt with a worn-out backpack stood in the doorway, taking in the whole room with a calm, unhurried expression. As if he didn't realize he'd just walked into a situation that was about to blow up. Or he did, and just didn't care. It's him... Sera's heart skipped, beating once, harder than usual. This man was none other than the one who had saved her earlier, the one who had taken down ten armed men in a matter of seconds. The man who had turned down two million dollars a month like it was a number not even worth his attention. Why is he here? Why is he looking for me? Her mind raced. Could it be... "Who the hell are you?!" Arthur's voice shattered the silence. He looked the man up and down, not hiding the slightest bit of disgust on his face. His gaze lingered on the worn shirt, then the ratty backpack slung over the man's shoulder, then back to his face. "What are you doing here?! This is a private residence, not a homeless shelter!" "I'm Lein Ashre." The man's voice was flat. Not out of nerves, but because he didn't feel the need to raise it to be heard. "Sera Caldwell's fiancé." Silence. One second. Two seconds. Then the whole room erupted. "What?!" "Fiancé?!" "What did this beggar just say?!" Sera felt a dozen pairs of eyes snap toward her at once, waiting, questioning, some of them already wearing mocking smiles before she'd even opened her mouth. But she realized that whatever this man's reasons were, this was clearly her chance. Sera stepped forward, stood beside Lein, and took his right hand. Her fingers gripped it tight, like someone who had no intention of letting go. "That's right," she said, her voice steady without a single tremor. "Lein Ashre is my fiancé. And we're getting married tomorrow." Lein glanced at her from the corner of his eye. Then that smile appeared. Warmer this time. "I never thought fate was actually real," Lein said. The silence held for two more seconds before the room broke. Laughter. Not just ordinary laughter. Long, loud laughter, like they'd just heard the funniest joke in the world. Lara was the first to speak, because she was exactly the type who could never keep her mouth shut. She looked Lein over from head to toe without holding anything back, like someone appraising a piece of junk on the side of the road. "Sera." Her voice was sweet, but her eyes weren't. "I know you've always had terrible taste. But this..." she nodded her chin at Lein, "this goes way past terrible taste. What is that shirt? When was the last time it got washed? And that bag, oh my God, how old is that thing?" Her laughter spilled out, light and cruel. "Honestly, I'd rather die alone than stand within three feet of a guy like that. Are you seriously marrying him, Sera? Did you just hit your head on something and turn into an idiot?" From the corner of the room, Angela, another one of Sera's cousins, stepped forward. Her red hair fell neatly over her shoulders, her clothes were expensive, and her pretty face wore an expression even colder than Lara's. "Sera," she said, her tone like someone patiently explaining something to a person who wasn't very bright. "The Caldwell family is one of the biggest names in this city. The media watches our every move. And you want them snapping photos of you standing next to a man who looks like a bum?" She shook her head slowly. "Please, use a little common sense. You'll embarrass the Caldwell name even more than you already have." Daniel didn't laugh. He smiled, and somehow that was worse than Lara's laughter. "Honestly, I've got to hand it to you, Sera." He clapped slowly, once, twice, with a smile that felt like a dull knife. "It's the perfect choice. A filthy guy who looks like a beggar, a perfect match for someone like you who can only sit pretty on her parents' inheritance. You two really are the most compatible couple in the world. A match made in heaven." The laughter in the room grew louder. Arthur stood with his arms crossed over his chest, staring at Lein with a look that didn't bother hiding his disgust. "This is the best you could do, Sera?" His voice was low, full of a cruel kind of pleasure. "Didn't Victor ever teach you how to pick a husband? This bum isn't even fit to scrub the floors of this house, and you're bringing him in as your husband?" He shook his head, but his eyes were still smiling. "What a disgrace!" Sera said nothing. Let them. Let them laugh. Let them insult him. Because Sera knew one thing that no one else in this room did. She knew what the man standing beside her tonight was capable of. Meanwhile, Lein stood calmly at her side, letting every word drift past him like the wind. Then he opened his mouth. "What a pathetic bunch of ants." He said it in the same tone someone might use while watching bugs crawl across the floor. The laughter in the room died instantoly. Daniel's face changed. The smile vanished, replaced by something darker. "What the fuck did you just say, you son of a bitch?!" Lein didn't look at him. Didn't even turn his head. Instead, his eyes dropped to Sera, who was still holding his hand tightly. Then his expression shifted. More serious, colder. "Give me the order." His voice was low, just loud enough for Sera to hear. But the room had gone so quiet that every word landed clearly. "Anyone here, anyone who's ever hurt you, anyone who dared to throw those insults at you tonight. Just one word from you." He raised his gaze and calmly swept it across the entire room. "And I'll make sure they never open their mouths again for the rest of their lives."Latest Chapter
Chapter 015
"Sera."Tristan turned his head without lowering his raised hand. His voice went soft again, like someone coaxing a child away from a fire."Step back. This is the guy who wants to marry you, right?" His smile was thin. "Then please, don't get involved just yet. Let him prove he's worthy right here. If he really deserves to stand beside you, he'll make it through this."Sera opened her mouth. She wanted to say something. Maybe to refuse, maybe to warn him, but before a single word came out, her eyes met Lein's.He turned his head slightly toward her and smiled.A small, easy smile, like someone about to step out to grab some tea. His eyes said one thing very clearly: I'll be fine.Sera looked at him for a moment. Then nodded slowly. She stepped back a few paces, leaving plenty of space in the middle of the hall.Lein turned to face forward again. Ten huge men stood in a half circle in front of him, their shadows falling across the marble floor like a moving wall. He looked at them one

"You only see what's on the outside, Tristan."Sera's voice wasn't loud, but it was sharp enough to make the smile on Tristan's face slip a little."That's the only thing you ever see, and that's exactly why you'll never understand." Sera took a step to the side, standing shoulder to shoulder with Lein. "Lein is a good man. He promised to protect me. And I trust him."A moment of silence. Then Tristan laughed.Quietly at first, like someone trying to hold it in. But the longer it went on, the more it broke loose, until his shoulders were shaking and he had to press a palm to his chest to catch his breath."Protect you?" He wiped the corner of his eye with a fingertip. "*Him?*"His index finger rose, pointing at Lein without even looking."Sera, Sera, Sera. Listen to me." His tone softened again, full of fake patience. "I know the people from the other branches of the Caldwell family want your fortune. That's no secret. That's exactly why I'm here today, offering to protect you. The Ka
Chapter 013
The front doors of the Caldwell estate were wide open. In the doorway stood a man whose presence seemed deliberately designed to fill the room. He was about 185 centimeters tall. His brown hair was slicked neatly back, not a single strand daring to stray out of place. Thin-framed glasses sat on his sharp nose, giving him a polished, intelligent look. The dark gray suit he wore wrapped his athletic build in a perfect cut, broad shoulders, slim waist, not a single wrinkle in sight. He was handsome. His smile was warm. His posture was upright and confident. In short, he looked like the kind of guy any mother would want to set her daughter up with. In his hands was a massive bouquet of white and pink roses, at least a hundred stems. Behind him stood five maids in matching, neatly pressed cream uniforms. Each one carried a velvet-wrapped gift box tied with a perfect gold ribbon. And behind those five, ten men in black suits stood in two rows. Shoulders as wide as doorways, necks as

"You don't need to cook anything," Sera said, throwing off her blanket. "Let's head downstairs. They've already made breakfast for us."Lein nodded. "Alright."They left the bedroom and went down the stairs to the ground floor. The corridors of the Caldwell estate were full of busy staff. Some were carrying laundry baskets, some were wiping down the stair railings, some were straightening vases in the corners of the hallway. All of them were working diligently. But not a single one of them greeted her.A young maid passed them at a corner. She just stepped aside, eyes fixed straight ahead, then went back to her work as if what had just walked by was nothing but a breeze. Two other maids near the living room door didn't even turn their heads. No respectful nods. No "good morning, Young Miss."Lein glanced at Sera. She walked with her back straight and her face blank, as if nothing about this was strange at all. She's not bothered, Lein thought. Or more accurately, she's too used to it
Chapter 011
Sunlight poured in all at once. Wide and bright, it hit Sera square in the face without warning the moment the curtains were pulled aside. Sera scrunched her forehead, squeezing her eyes shut tighter before finally giving up and slowly opening them. It took a few seconds for her vision to adjust, for the shapes in the room to come into focus. The open window. Morning light slanting in. And Lein, standing there with his hand still on the curtain, looking at her with an expression that was not the least bit sorry. Sera let out a slow breath. Relief. Not because Lein was there, but because it meant everything that happened last night wasn't a dream. It was real. This man was real. And she wasn't alone anymore. But it also meant something else. Uncle Caden was really gone. Sera swallowed the feeling for a moment, let it linger, then tucked it away somewhere it wouldn't bother her until she was fully awake. "You were really out cold," Lein said, his tone light. "It's already six
Chapter 010
Ten minutes later, the bathroom door opened.Sera turned from where she lay on the bed, half asleep, the TV remote still in her hand.Lein stood in the bathroom doorway, his hair still wet, and the only thing covering his body was a white towel wrapped low around his waist.Sera stared. And didn't stop staring right away.Because the body in front of her didn't exactly make it easy to look away.Lein's shoulders were broad but not overdone. His chest was wide and solid. His abs were cleanly defined, and not like a bodybuilder's, but like someone whose body hadn't been built in a gym, but by something far harsher than that. Not a single inch felt like too much or too little. Everything was exactly right, and perfect.Absolutely perfect.So... this guy had a body like that?Sera swallowed.Once. Silently. But it felt incredibly loud in her own throat. Her cheeks had been flushed since the very first second, and instead of getting better, they only got worse with every passing moment.Th
