"That phone call," the driver said with a smug look on his face. "Telling me to drive you to Days Corp HQ like you are the big boss that runs this corporation. Everyone knows the CEO is a ghost and hides his identity."

He chuckled, a dry, unpleasant sound. "Trying to act important for the lady who pays for your clothes? What a pathetic thing to do as a man. Being used as a toy thing for your mistress." The driver said, his voice getting harsher, “Don’t you have any shame?”

The fact that Blake seemed unbothered made the driver even angrier; he was very desperate to provoke Blake and get a rise out of him.

“If I can get an outburst from this pathetic guy outside the Days Corp HQ. I can report him to their security. He would get what he deserved, and I would get a reward for reporting an imposter.” The driver thought to himself with a devilish smile.

The driver had heard from his friends and colleagues, during their beer time, that companies like Days Corp. usually reward people with huge sums of money for reporting things that could potentially harm the company or its executives.

“Poor guy, he should have known better than to piss me off. It is one thing to be sponsored by a woman. But to top it off, he dares come into my taxi and act all high and mighty. Well, it sucks to be him. All I have to do now is get him to react and then I can serve him up like a turkey on Thanksgiving to the Days Corporation.” He thought to himself.

Blake just looked at him, a slow understanding dawning. The driver thought he was a nobody, a small, insignificant man, putting on airs. What's more, he seems to want a reaction out of him. But Blake was determined not to give him any.

"How much?" Blake asked, cutting through the man's taunts.

The driver's eyes gleamed. This was it. "Two thousand," he said, naming an outrageous sum for the short trip.

Blake let out a soft chuckle. "Two thousand? For this ride?"

"Yeah, two thousand," the driver repeated, leaning back, confident. "Unless you can't afford it, being a poor guy... sponsored and all."

"The meter says less than five hundred," Blake said, still smiling slightly. "But you know what? Two thousand sounds like fun." He pulled out a thick wad of cash, peeled off several large bills, and handed them over. "Enjoy yourself."

The driver was left stunned and his ego was ripped apart; his plan again had just failed. Actually, that trip was just $250, and Blake paying him two grand meant he had just made a profit of over eight times what he would have originally made. But then, that was nothing compared to the $10,000 the company would give him if he reported Blake as an imposter and a threat to the identity of the company's CEO.

Blake opened the car door.

"Hey!" the driver yelled, scrambling out of the car. He was determined to provoke Blake. "Hold on!"

Blake ignored him, starting towards the imposing gates of Days Corp.

The driver grabbed his hand and pulled him back. "You think you can just walk away after that performance?"

Blake turned, and his expression was met with firmness. The driver's hand still snapped over his arm.

Blake didn't say a word; he turned around and just opened his hand to deliver a quick but open slap on the face of the driver. A crack hit the pavement, rippling in silence. The driver looked again, wide-eyed in shock, then crumpled to the ground, clutching his cheek, a low moan coming out of his lips.

Blake shook his head slightly, almost disgusted with the sight of the man. He has had a long and stressful day and the driver just made the biggest mistake of his life by pissing him off today. And with that, Blake continued towards the gate.

Two security guards pushed him into the path of reclusion. “Hey! What the hell just happened?” One of them asked, looking at Blake and the man on the ground groaning.

Before Blake could respond, the glaring black car came up beside us. The window shone, now showing the familiar face of Gerald. He had been worried about Blake’s whereabouts since he only saw him this morning.

"You idiots better stand down," Gerald told the guards. Blake saw him and turned away with relief and care in his eyes. "Boss, I'm here to escort you in.”

He looked up at the driver and down at the guards, then back at the driver. "He's with me," Gerald said, gesturing to Blake and holding his head slightly lower for the guards, who still heard. "He's... the boss."

The guards' eyes twinkled, and they came to face Blake, and they saluted him. “Welcome, boss. Sorry for the misunderstanding.”
