While in jail, Blake had picked up on some martial arts skills from his fellow inmates. With proficiency in Tea Kwon do, jujutsu, Aikido, Tai Chi, and many more. There were enough to make him well-grounded in martial arts, not just for self-defense but also for offensive attacks. He wasn't just a trillionaire; he was a fighter and a skilled one at that.
Chelsea and Blake step out of the marriage registry building in eastern Manhattan, New York City. Chelsea was still feeling restless from the event with the guy who tried to rob her; the sight of the man pointing a gun at her and Blake felt like something out of a movie. The two had rushed to the marriage registry building to legalize their marriage as per their agreement.
“Wow, we really did it; we got married,” Chelsea said, looking down at the document papers in her hand. Even though this was her plan from the get-go, she was still in disbelief that she had married a man she had just met that day.
Blake, who had a more chill look, glanced at the woman he had just married. If someone had told him this was going to be his first action when he got out of prison, he would have punched them and made sure they saw hell for even suggesting he would marry anybody other than Rose. But here he was, the new Mr.London. He loved this new job as her husband and saw Chelsea as the universe's way of consoling him for what Rose and Elizabeth did to him earlier.
Chelsea met his gaze. "So, Mr. Blake," Chelsea said, a playful lilt in her voice as they left the registry office. "You are officially Mr. London now, husband to Chelsea London.” They had used Chelsea's last name since the point of the whole marriage was to fully take over her family business empire.
Blake met her eyes; they were bright and filled with vim and vigor, something he hadn’t seen in seven years. A genuine smile touched his lips. "Seems I am, Mrs. London."
She laughed a bright sound that contrasted with the uneasy mood earlier. "Right, remember the contract, Blake. It is important for everyone to believe this marriage is real and that we are both deeply in love."
"Don’t worry, I’ve been told that I am an amazing actor," he said jokingly. The air between them was light, a stark contrast to the heavy bitterness he had faced earlier with Rose and Elizabeth. Chelsea seemed... easygoing and was a pleasant distraction.
They reached a waiting car. "Sorry, I have to leave so soon. I have to swing by the office for some last-minute office work," Chelsea explained, opening the car door. "Oh, don’t forget the signing ceremony is tonight.” She reached into her bag and pulled a sleek black card from her purse. "Here."
Blake took it, raising an eyebrow. "This is your company’s credit card. What for…?"
"Well, consider it... a wardrobe allowance," she said, a smirk playing on her lips. "You can't show up to the biggest deal signing of the year looking like... well, like you just got out of prison."
"Charming," Blake retorted, but he pocketed the card.
"Go get something sharp to wear," she instructed. "And meet me at the venue by seven on the dot. And don't be late." She said with a cute smile on her face.
Blake found it cute and responded, "Wouldn't dream of it."
She blew him a kiss, then slid into the car, which pulled away smoothly.
Blake watched as Chelsea's car rode off; he hailed a taxi for himself. "To the clothing store downtown," he told the driver, settling into the back seat. He leaned his head back; the events of the day were still swirling in his head. His heart ached as he recalled Rose... he soon pushed the thought away.
His phone rang. Gerald, his trusty assistant, was calling him. He picked up the phone immediately.
"Boss? We have a situation," Gerald's voice was urgent.
"What's wrong?" Black asked diligently.
"It's... sensitive. Can you come to HQ? Now?"
Blake sat up straight. "On my way." He ended the call. "Change of plans, driver," he told the driver. “Take me to Days Corp HQ. And step on it."
The driver, a man with a constantly gloomy demeanor, grunted. Blake was oblivious to the man's previous watchfulness, the way his gaze had sharpened when Chelsea gave Blake the card. He had seen it as he was driving up to the junction. The way Blake appeared to pay close attention as Chelsea provided directions, it was clear she was in charge.
He thought to himself. What really pissed him off was how Blake shouted commands into his phone, trying to act like a big-shot executive. The driver clenched his jaw. “A beggar, shouting commands. As if he owns a dime to his name. He is probably trying to show off in front of me.”
When Blake instructs him to turn and drive to the Days Corps HQ, the driver lets out a soft hiss. He mumbled something softly that Blake couldn't fully hear. Blake paid no attention to him, concentrating on the call, on Gerald's insistence.
Suddenly, the driver clamped down on the brake abruptly, with great force. Blake, not having fastened his seatbelt properly, lurched ahead and struck the back of the driver's seat.
"What the hell was that for?!" Blake asked, holding his palm to his head.
The driver simply gazed forward, hands gripping the wheel firmly as he made the U-turn to head towards the Days Corp HQ. With a determined tension in his shoulders, he remained silent.
Blake felt a rush of annoyance, yet he held it in. The man was not worth his time and effort. He reclined into his seat, fastened his seatbelt, and gazed out the window, trying not to pay attention to the guy in the driver's seat.
They pulled up to the imposing Days Corp headquarters. The driver stopped the car.
"Do you really think you're fooling anyone with that pathetic act of yours?" The driver said, his voice rough, breaking the silence.
Blake turned to him, confused. "What are you talking about?"

Marching towards them, looking completely out of place amidst the glittering crowd, was his younger brother, Jonah, and a few of his equally rough-looking friends. Captain Dowell had pulled some strings to get them invitations, a chance for his street-level brother to see how the other half lived, and maybe boost his own standing by association. The guests were noticeably uncomfortable with the arrival of Jonah and his friends, as they were not elites like themselves. “Who the hell let these guys in? I thought this ceremony was only for the prestigious folks.” A lady in a red dress said while clutching her drink tight.“Those are the chief se
