The rest of the trip

Jane waited for Matt for an hour, she could not reach him by phone.  Although she didn't mind him working late, she knew he would get some advice from her mother when they got home.

When she saw the car approaching, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"I'm sorry Jane, I'm busy with work and don't notice the time."  Matt's sorry.

"Don't apologize to mom, sorry later. You know how mom is."  Jane sighed.

"Why don't we go out to eat today? I got a promotion, so I treat!"  Being promoted is an understatement for what happened to him today, but he has no plans to tell his wife or her family yet.

As if forewarned, Jane's phone began to ring, it was her mother.

"Let's celebrate your promotion, my cousin is engaged and her father invited us all out."  Jane told Matt.  He drove them home to pick up Jane's mother, Anne, and her father, Charles.

"Who is Anna's fiancé, mother?"  Jane will soon regret asking her mother.

"His name is Cuban Joan, he's the son of a very wealthy businessman. They own a chain of pharmacies that have branches in other countries!"  Anne spoke proudly, as if Anna were her daughter.  "Why can't you marry a man as capable as Cuban, Jane?"

 "Mommy!"  Jane scolded.

"And you! My lazy husband, you can at least contribute more to your family. Instead of being here you're just a professor! I thought you'd become a doctor when you married!  "  Anne scolded her husband.

The rest of the trip was spent with Anne praising Anna's fiancé.  According to Anne, Cuban Joan was young and rich, he booked a restaurant for an engagement ceremony and gave Anna a ring worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.  He will inherit his father's business in the next few years.

Matt couldn't help but grin, if only his brother-in-law knew who he really is, they wouldn't be so impressed with Cuban Joan.

At a traffic light, Matt asked Ian for all the information about Cuban Joan, Matt met a handful of wealthy heirs and he knew they liked to show off.  Before they arrived, Ian sent him an email with all the information he needed about Cuban Joan.

After dropping Jane and his wife in the lobby, he parked the car.  He quickly flipped through Cuban's profile and realized that Cuban's father didn't even want this engagement to happen.

He chuckled to himself, the snobby Scarlett family would soon be shunned by others.

When Matt stepped into the restaurant's lobby, he heard a familiar voice call his name.

 "Matt! Matt!"

Matt turned around and saw Mark Laurence waving to him.  Mark is the eldest son and heir of the infamous Laurence family, who have been involved in both legal and illegal business.

Mark and Matt grew up together, and Mark is well aware of the poor training Matt had to go through.

"Hey Mark! Did you think Joan had ordered the whole restaurant?"  Matt asked.

"Ha! He only booked a function room. Hey, I heard you're coming back?"  Mark asked.

"Yeah. But I haven't made it public yet."  Matt explained.

"If you need any help, you know you can ask us."  The "we" that Mark is talking about are the infamous "five princes".  They are all the sons of wealthy and influential families and are prepared to come to power one day.  Unlike their peers, they take their studies and business very seriously and are all given important roles in their own families.

Everyone knew who the four were, but it seemed no one had ever met the fifth prince, the extremely short son of the Reeves family.

"I'll be at the Cuban Joan function room in a bit. I think his dad will drop by."  Matt said with a grin.

Mark simply nodded and continued walking.

In the function room, Matt sat down next to Jane.  It seems that the entire Scarlett family soon came out to welcome this to be the family's son-in-law.

Jane's cousin, Anna Scarlett is the youngest daughter of her father's eldest brother, she is tall and pretty.  Although only 22 years old, but Anna has made up make her look more mature than reality.  Like most Scarletts, she has fair skin and black hair.

When she saw Matt coming, she dragged her fiancé out to brag to Jane and her family.
