Since Lila did not respond, Christina shook her head, her ponytail swishing like a metronome. "And I will be taking these. They're not safe with you. Just... hurry up. College waits for no sluts."

With that lame zinger, she spun on her heel and marched for the door, pretending to be all righteous fire from the heavens. The door opened just as my skill ran out.

[Invisibility expired.] [Remaining: x1]

I shimmered back into existence, inhaling dust like a mummy from an awful movie. My throat burned as if it were the first time I was breathing air. But victory tasted sweet. Christina was leaving, and now I could snatch the cufflink chain from Lila.

I was one step away from being the victor in this round of the adult Osbourne gladiator games. Muhahaha.

I crouched down there, listening to Lila's music thump faintly through her earphones, waiting for Christina to leave. The big sister was oblivious, of course, humming lyrics off-key and terribly, probably plotting her next I*******m thirst trap. The slut.

I could use the second disposable invisibility to get up and snatch the cufflinks chain from her. It was not honorable to be a thief, but they stole in the first place.

As I peeked my head toward the door, I could see Christina departing. It was nice to see her in tight jeans, and to really appreciate her tight ass for the first time. I had finally become a man of culture, hadn't I?

However, my heart froze when I noticed something odd. From her back pocket, hugged by denim, was poking Lila's chain! She took it from my big sister! I should've noticed that when she said, "And I will be taking these. They're not safe with you."

Goddammit! Christina's brainy greed. The saintly bitch! They were a tag-team nightmare, constantly syncing up to bury me under their bullshit and keying the car? Her idea. Hiding the links? Joint op. I will have my revenge, you fuckable bitches!

The room fell quiet. Lila's music droned on. Now, I had to use invisibility to escape, and I still didn't get the cufflinks. I sighed silently and focused inward, willing the menu up.

[Invisibility Skill Lvl 1: Ready. Activate?] Yes.

The tingle radiated out again, followed by that familiar shimmer, and I faded from vision. I had twenty seconds of ghost mode to escape from Lila's room.

It wasn't that difficult. I crawled on the floor, reached the room's end, clambered to my feet, cracked the door, and slipped out like smoke. Lila was none the wiser.

The mansion's polished halls were empty, sunlight slanting through tall windows like bars in a prison.

[15... 14...]

Invisibility was still active. Perhaps I could reach Christina and snatch the chain in time? I could still hear her footsteps.

I rushed down the stairs, two at a time, yet silent as sin. I went past the foyer with its pretentious crystal vase and felt like dropping it. It was Gemina's pride, probably swiped from some auction with Osbourne money.

Christina's footsteps drove me towards the kitchen. My heart pounded while the timer ticked mercilessly.

[7… 6…]

I burst through the swinging door. And there she was. Christina, Miss Perfect incarnate, perched on a stool at the marble island like she owned the universe.

[Invisibility Expired.]

Shit—I missed the chance. Fuckballs!

Regardless of my failure, I was entranced by Christina's appearance all over again. She wore a crisp white blouse tucked into high-waisted blue jeans that hugged her like they were painted on.

She had a runner's build, lean legs crossed modestly, but the fabric stretched just enough over her ass to hint at the firmness underneath. Her raven ponytail gleamed under the lights, and those green eyes flicked up from her phone, on noticing my arrival, narrowing as sharp as daggers.

Lila looked like a governess from one of those stuffy period dramas—ready to rap knuckles with a ruler. She had supermodel potential if she ditched the pearl necklace and smiled once in a blue moon.

She had medium tits under that blouse, but they were sure as hell perky. A hot mug of coffee sat before her.

Lila set her phone down with a click, her lips curling into that patented bitch smirk—half pity, half poison. "Well, if it isn't the Osbourne embarrassment."

"What is up with you, Pan? Still slinking around like a stray dog? Did you finish the scraps again, or was none of it left?"
