Spending a night in that town was good. I was able to restock. Why the past tense?
Because I have already arrived at the capital. The time skip is staple for a story. So I thought I would omit the rest of my journey.
Not like anything special happened in between anyway. I just found a few dead bodies and buried. Like usual.
The capital is totally a mess. Most humans lived here. So the damage is mostly visible. But fortunately, one place was unscathed.
The city center. Though it's the capital, calling it the capital center was weird. So they named it city center.
It was the administrative building that oversaw the capital and its inhabitants.
But it was mostly automated. A highly computational A.I. program was created so that it would be automated.
And not that many humans worked here. So the building is still standing.
But the thing I am after is underground.
The data center which stores the worlds knowledge is here.
But this stuff is classified. You would ask then how do I know that?
Because my father was the lead of that project. And I saw the plans albeit by chance.
But it caught my interest and I always snuck in and out to check the progress and if any changes have been made.
Although I haven't been there myself, I should be able to get in.
If the plan wasn't changed then I should be able to do it.
Then you might what would I do if there's a lock?
Of course there's a lock. But the lock is supposed to open automatically if a human arrives. That's a fail safe.
It is programmed to search all over the world if something happens to humans. And I am the last human left. So it should open.
You might think this is too good to be true. But the thing is that my father couldn't think of anything else.
And if it's too complex then it would be impossible to open. Inside that is the cumulative knowledge of humanity.
Over 10000 years of knowledge and technology is preserved inside. The government was adamant on making that.
If something like this happened then humanity would be done for. We would have become a footnote in earths history.
I didn't notice that we have already arrived at the building.
The city center. A building which is not too tall. Just 40 floors. That's only on the surface.
It has another 20 floors below the surface. All of them are full of supercomputers and stuff.
I enter the building. It is still operational.
The energy source hasn't been cut yet.
After the war a hundred years ago, we changed.
We banned the use of nuclear technology and started using solar energy. We became dependent on it and made new machines.
They could operate for a week if charged once. It might sound underwhelming when compared to nuclear power.
But it doesn't have adverse effects on earth. A completely green energy source.
The building is still standing and no dead bodies are seen.
Probably they were not present during the attack.
It happened during lunchtime so the building only had the minimal of staff.
That's my deduction. I don't know what happened actually.
I enter. With me is my partner Hazel. It feels reassuring that she is with me. Without her I would have been dead.
She helped me search for edible food and drinking water.
I could get those at a town too. But when on road, it's better to have some left for emergency.
I take the stairs and go down. Then I reach the lowest floor. It is just 20 floors down.
Then I press the button. It's a red button.
I knew it would be easy. But this is way too simple. At least have some guards.
The door opened and I enter the room inside.
It is a big room with a console in the middle.
The main storage devices are down below.
I operate the console. It's directly linked to the satellites.
Maybe I should take a look at the invaders as well.
Luckily the satellites and the comm links are still in one piece.
Was it just a miscalculation or were they that confident?
Maybe they were confident. Well I cannot blame them.
The attack killed everyone perfectly. Even those who were hiding died.
Maybe I was just plain lucky or something else is at play.
I look at the screen. A big spaceship is approaching. A warship that was used in the movies.
But then it stopped just above the atmosphere and released a lot of smaller ones. Just like drones controlled from a mothership.
And then it happened. They explicitly targeted humans.
Other animals were left out. But then how was I spared.
That's when I look at Hazel who was sitting beside me.
She is staring at me with her eyes and seemed sad for some reason.
Or it was just me reading too much into it.
I pat her head to ease her. She just closed her eyes and let out a relaxed bark.
I then finish my main work. I store most of the useful knowledge and leave the room. Then I take a solar phone with me. It is a phone which can work with solar energy.
It has a GPS function as well and it'll probably help in my journey.
I leave the building after scavenging a little.
I load up and decided that I will stay here for a while. I don't have another destination in my mind. So let's rest for now.

Why did I even bother?
Burning me on a cross was a failure. They were so shocked that they even stopped moving. When someone managed to move, I just had to run my mouth and shut them up again. The king, his soldiers and general Louis are all still like statues. I look at Gwen."This is why I hate slow people." "What can they do? Not many are actually as adaptive as you." (Gwen)"You are one to talk! You were probably the only one who understood me. That's why you were never afraid of me even after all of that."I remember the times I spent in school. Gwen was always with me. And I knew that she was crazy. So I acted crazy and we got along well. Trevor probably sees her as a perfect older sister. To me, she is just a normal girl with a few screw loose. Even now, Trevor is trying his best to grasp the meaning of out conversation. I look at the living statues. They are still statues. Fine, I hate waiting.I dispell their confusion by using mana to give suggestions to them. It's easy. I made their brains thi
The trial begins
I was taken away by a weird guy. I look at him. He is nothing more than a scrawny old man. But his attire is telling me otherwise. And he has at least 50 soldiers surrounding us. He is dragging me by the handcuffs. And I am in the center of a circle formed by his armored men. People are staring at me. Some are even giving me weird looks. I don't mind the looks. I think I should talk. "Uhhh….can I have your name?" He ignores me. But he increases his walking speed. I do the same and ask the same question again. "You should give yours first." "I think you know my name. How did you arrest me without knowing my name?" "Cheeky. I am Count Louis Vindolf, a general serving this kingdom." (Loius) "I see. Nice to meet you, General Vindolf. I am Clive Belmont, a visitor from another world. You must know where I come from." "Yes. I know. But it surprises me, you are nothing like your fellow people described you to be." (Louis) "Looks can be deceiving, general. You should kno
Shopping gone wrong
After Fiona left for the palace, we also departed for Ms. Pablo's shop. They told me that they became acquaintaned with Ms. Pablo yesterday. As usual, Eden is on my shoulder. She said that it's her seat. I have no problems with it. And my SPIRIT is recovered as well. By that I mean the portion I kept for me. Because I only kept 10 percent of my original SPIRIT for me. I have already converted that to mana. Now, there are 9 of us. Me, Hazel, Aura, Eden, Fay, Aera, Aegis, Doris and Amaryllis. Because Eden is on my shoulder, she isn't walking. However there are still 8 of us who are walking on the street. We are standing out. Well, I gave up on trying to entertain others a while ago. The more you try to fit in, the harder it gets. I was always standing out from the rest."What should we buy?" I ask everyone. Because this time is going to be a bit different. Previously I had shopped with Aegis. But then I came with dad. There were never too many of us. It's a first.I need to check my f
An angry mother is scary
I think I passed out while I was having a conversation with Samantha. No, she stopped my SPIRIT and drained my mana. Then knocked me out. That's weird. I wasn't even dreaming. It is a total blank. I can't remember anything after that. Normally I will at least dream. But this time, it's a blank slate. Well, dwelling on that won't do me any good. How about I wake up?I try to move but something is blocking me. It's not too heavy and kinda soft. I feel like I am being pinned down by something. I think I should open my eyes first. After opening my eyes, I see Eden on my chest. So Eden is sleeping on my chest. But I notice that my arms are blocked by something as well. And the answer is, Hazel and Aura. They are both hugging my arms. It looks like they are sleeping. So I have been pinned down by them. (Aera, what time is it?)(It's nighttime, master. It's past midnight.) (I see. Waking up won't do any good. How about I go back to sleep?)(Certainly, master. But don't forget about Fay?)
Their resolves
It's almost noon. The people outside are hurrying to their homes for a good lunch. Travelers and peddlers are leaving one by one as well. Walking on the streets, Fay, Hazel and Aura are garnering enough attention to cause a ruckus. When beautiful women like them walk past you, everyone is bound to glance at least once. But they pay it no mind. Fay is leading them to the market. "Are we gonna find anything at this hour though?" (Aura)Aura voices her concern. Groceries like vegetables are best bought in the mornings. It's almost noon. It's not unfounded doubt on her part."Don't worry. I am going to a place which always has fresh vegetables on hand. They can provide almost anything you want." (Fay)"I believe we are headed towards the market but that doesn't look like the market which sells vegetables." (Hazel)"We are going to a general store. See, that shop over there." (Fay)Fay points to a shop just a little away from them. The signboard says "Pablo's General Store". "Hmm, that
The Tempest
An unconscious Clive laid on the sofa. Neighboring Hazel and Aura had to move to let him lay down. Samantha or commonly known as System is currently explaining something to Clive's dependents. The situation is so sudden that everyone is startled. Aura and Hazel are just silently waiting while Clive is unconscious. His body is limp. He has not a sliver of energy left. His SPIRIT has been undone. His mana and physical strength have disappeared. Leaving behind an extremely vulnerable Clive. Fay is the only one who is quiet. She is in deep thoughts. But she suddenly stood up and looked at Hazel. Aura and Hazel understood what she was trying to say. Eden was sent to her room to read some books. Eden decided to study books about different types of magic. She wanted to heal her papa. "System or should I call you Samantha?" (Fay) "Call me whatever you like. Do you have anything to ask me?" (Samantha) Her tone was extremely cold. The air in the room started to chill. After all, Hazel,
