Chapter 1
Chapter 1
On that day everything changed. The people I knew, all died.
As a matter of fact, everyone died except me.
I, Clive Belmont, am the only person alive on this entire planet.
I didn't get to watch the bombardment. I was mining for resources.
So when I got to the surface, I was greeted with a scene that could be said hell.
Scorched earth and rubbles. The city I knew was nowhere to be seen. Neither the people.
I stood alone. On that pile of rubbles, I stood still, laughing.
Many would say that I am abnormal. Abnormal would be kind of them. Freak, psycho, weird, inhuman, monster; I have been called all of this in just my 17 years of life.
And look, everyone who called me those, died.
I alone am alive. Now a certain question arises.
What should I do? What do I do? Should I take revenge on those who killed everyone? Should I sulk that everyone is dead? Should I grieve their deaths?
But to be honest, I am not doing any of those.
Think about it, they wiped out all of humanity in just an hour.
Would I be able to something against them?
The answer is a big NO.
I was not attached to them either. I was always met with fear and hatred.
Even my parents hated me. So I cannot say that I feel anything. I am far too apathetic.
So I should prioritize my own survival. Repopulating the whole planet is impossible as I am a male and no female is left.
Again, I am not the least bit interested in that.
I had one simple dream. It was to have plain peace.
Laying on a grass field, basking in the sun as the air caresses my entire body, was my dream.
But most of this planet is polluted. Even this small piece of habitable land was on the verge of contamination.
I gave up on that dream. But now I have found a chance.
So I will just do that. But to do so, I have to survive.
This place is done for. No matter where I look, I only see rubbles. This place which was a bustling town even just a while ago, has turned into a destroyed ruin.
This place reeks of blood and there are bodies scattered everywhere.
A sane person would have gone mad.
Areeehh. This is weird. I should be scared of this sight. But I have no problem looking at the mangled and burnt bodies of people.
I don't feel anything even after looking at them. Have I gone insane?
But there's no one around to answer for me. Maybe I have. Or I was insane from the very beginning.
Let's stop with the monologues and start working.
Saying that, I started walking. I should first see if my house is still around or not.
The town is called Daedalus. It was named after a mythical smith.
This was a mining town and was famous for its crafts.
Emphasis on was. Because it is no longer. Roughly 10 hours have passed since the attack.
It should be burning but the flames went out.
When I returned, I saw burn marks and scorched land. But no fire was there.
What kind of technology was used to annihilate humanity? It makes me shiver with excitement.
I want to see that. I am now walking to my house. But the streets are burnt. It's hard to walk like that.
But no matter how I look only places with people were attacked.
Like they were tracking humans. So I was in the mines and was saved. But then I look to left where an underground shopping mall used to be.
It is thoroughly destroyed. That means that just being underground won't save you.
Perhaps there are other conditions. While thinking of all these things, I arrived at my home.
It isn't that damaged. Meaning, no humans were present here during the attack. My parents must have been at work.
I guess this is luck as well. My things are in one piece. I can properly prepare and leave here.
I enter the house and went straight to my room.
Took a few necessary things but don't need money.
All humanity is destroyed. No doubt about that. So I won't need money. Then I left.
I should go to kitchen and salvage some food.
I would need it for the journey. I did that.
And now time to leave this place. I have lived here my entire life. But I feel nothing that could remotely be said as sorrow.
Probably because of the treatment I got.
Anyway, I should be happy that those attackers destroyed everything.
A normal person would go mad if faced with loneliness. But I have been lonely. And in my lonesomeness I grew up and got accustomed to it.
It won't matter. I exit the house and pay my respects for the dead for one last time.
I am determined to travel around the world. This place was the last place to shelter humans.
Other continents are too polluted. But that was 100 years ago.
It's time to discover. I feel rather energetic about what's to come.
Wish me luck. Though I say that, I alone am left.
So here begins my journey. The only human left will go around the world and see the world. Maybe I can even meet the attackers.
They can come back to look at the situation. But I have to be vigilant too. They would probably attack me as well.
Reminding myself I leave the city and journey towards north where the capital is.

Spirit Harvester He is a weird man!
I, Delphine McNair, am currently walking through the enemy territory. Something like this normally impossible but my mother has brought me here along with my maid Sasha. It's evening so not a lot of people are out. My mother did cast perception blocking magic on us. They can't see us anyway."Mother, where are we going?""To see the person who was rude enough to abduct you in your sleep." She apathetically says. But I think she is somewhat angry. And after walking for a while, we stop in front of a house. It's a normal stone house. Mother knocks on the door and a woman opens the door. She has blonde hair and a beautiful face. She looks around my mother's age."Yes, how may I help you?" She asks us. But what will mother say to her? Before my mother says something, a man comes and stands behind the blonde woman."Fiona, I will take it from here." He says and the woman goes inside."I didn't think you would come here, demon king. Spirit Harvester The demon princess ponders
I have this inexplicable feeling that's been sticking to my mind. When did it start? I think it started a couple days ago. When I woke up in the morning, I had traces of mana on me. I asked my maid and other guards who were on night duty but nothing of note happened according to them. They didn't notice anything. Who should I ask then? I have a meeting after this. Spirit Harvester Everyone has accepted it!
The farce which I went along with for some reason has ended. I gut punched the guy who slashed at me suddenly. General Louis called him Apollo. Well, if he is a god, it must be related to Jupiter. That doesn't matter. I told the king my current address and I was leaving. But I thought, I should leave through the front door. Might as well, leave like I have triumphed. "Clive, what are you doing here?" I was called from behind by a familiar voice. I turn around and confirm that it is indeed Fiona. "Well, the king kinda arrested me, tied me to a cross and tried to burn me but after surviving, I put him in his place." She sighs. Is she not surprised? I was expecting her to be surprised a bit. "Just don't go overboard. No matter what he did, he is still the king of this kingdom and a normal human being. Go easy on him. A lot." (Fiona)"Yeah. I felt that I should go easy. Fay said that he is 70. Is he that old?" "Yes. But he has access to best medications and healthcare. He probably d

Spirit Harvester Why did I even bother?
Burning me on a cross was a failure. They were so shocked that they even stopped moving. When someone managed to move, I just had to run my mouth and shut them up again. The king, his soldiers and general Louis are all still like statues. I look at Gwen."This is why I hate slow people." "What can they do? Not many are actually as adaptive as you." (Gwen)"You are one to talk! You were probably the only one who understood me. That's why you were never afraid of me even after all of that."I remember the times I spent in school. Gwen was always with me. And I knew that she was crazy. So I acted crazy and we got along well. Trevor probably sees her as a perfect older sister. To me, she is just a normal girl with a few screw loose. Even now, Trevor is trying his best to grasp the meaning of out conversation. I look at the living statues. They are still statues. Fine, I hate waiting.I dispell their confusion by using mana to give suggestions to them. It's easy. I made their brains thi

Spirit Harvester The trial begins
I was taken away by a weird guy. I look at him. He is nothing more than a scrawny old man. But his attire is telling me otherwise. And he has at least 50 soldiers surrounding us. He is dragging me by the handcuffs. And I am in the center of a circle formed by his armored men. People are staring at me. Some are even giving me weird looks. I don't mind the looks. I think I should talk. "Uhhh….can I have your name?" He ignores me. But he increases his walking speed. I do the same and ask the same question again. "You should give yours first." "I think you know my name. How did you arrest me without knowing my name?" "Cheeky. I am Count Louis Vindolf, a general serving this kingdom." (Loius) "I see. Nice to meet you, General Vindolf. I am Clive Belmont, a visitor from another world. You must know where I come from." "Yes. I know. But it surprises me, you are nothing like your fellow people described you to be." (Louis) "Looks can be deceiving, general. You should kno
