Soon, the pink-haired girl arrived, and they drove off immediately. Abel didn’t understand what was going on, the timely appearance of the two and the fact that they took him without any explanation.

The middle-aged man sensed his nervousness and grinned.

"My name is George Walrus. You can call me Sir Walrus. I'm your father's friend and once his partner."

  ???!

Abel had a big question mark on his mind. How could this powerful and mysterious man be his father’s friend and partner?

"You mean you know my father?" he asked in shock.

"I don't just know your father, he was my partner during our youthful days. But he rose too quickly, completely surpassed me, and left me in the dust."

Abel thought he was hallucinating or something, but he could feel the sadness in his voice.

Walrus had a look of melancholy on his handsome face as he spoke. He looked a bit lost, staring up at the sky... ehm, the roof of the car.

The pink-haired girl, who was in the driver’s seat, turned and looked at him curiously.

Who was this lad’s father? How could he have such a high status to be partners with her master and even surpass him? She turned and studied Abel again. Now that I think of it, he is also handsome, she couldn’t help but notice.

He had dark hair matched with deep, dark eyes, framed by thick eyelashes. His lips were firm and well-shaped, and he seemed to have an impeccable charm to him.

Abel noticed that the pink-haired beauty was looking at him. He was puzzled, wondering why, but he couldn’t pass up the chance to show off which caused a very comical situation.

He sat up straight, chest puffed out, and flicked his hair gently, believing he’d managed to portray the image of an outstanding young man who was completely oblivious to the ravenous gaze of the ladies.

The two people in the car froze. Laura’s lips twitched fiercely. He’s also shameless, she noted, and her impression of him dropped again.

Abel, still unaware, turned to Mr. Walrus, who was now looking at him strangely.

"Kid, you're not much different from your father. You both are shameless," Walrus laughed.

Abel looked away, pretending he didn’t understand what the old man was saying, but in his heart, he was thinking, Seems like this man really knows my father. That old man is indeed very shameless, and his face is even thicker than mine.

Abel believed that he might be a bit perverted and shameless, but he was nothing compared to his old man. The man’s face was thicker than Madam Gu’s lap.

Still, he didn’t let his guard down. What if the man had investigated him before? But then again, what would someone as powerful as him gain by deceiving someone as ordinary as Abel? Except he wasn’t that ordinary now. He had the system. But that was a secret only he knew.

The car continued speeding down the road.

Abel looked at Sir Walrus, worried. He was still waiting for him to explain everything. The reason he hadn’t protested was because he didn’t want to die yet. Are you kidding me? Just one smack from the pink-haired girl would be enough for him to have an early meeting with his ancestors. He decided to wait quietly instead.

After thirty minutes of driving, they arrived at a district area and entered a huge estate. The houses in the estate didn’t look cheap at all. They were stopped by the estate security. Laura only needed to show them some papers, and they were let in.

Abel was gobsmacked when they drove in. Was this an estate or a military barracks? He could see military men almost everywhere. They drove to the heart of the estate and stopped before the largest mansion. They weren’t allowed to drive further in, so they had to get out.

This time, Abel barely had the strength to admire the huge mansion. The amount and quality of soldiers around it made him pale.

"I know you have lots of questions. You’ll get your answers." Walrus’s expression was solemn, and it made Abel turn grim. He didn’t understand what was wrong with Walrus. Since they met, he had secretly noticed him making some sorrowful expressions, like someone who had lost something or someone important.

It had been subtle, but he still managed to notice it.

"Director Walrus!" the soldiers saluted and led them inside the mansion. Abel couldn’t help but notice how much respect they showed him. It was expected. He had a feeling Walrus could easily defeat all the soldiers here, even though they didn’t seem like ordinary soldiers.

They brought them to a large hall in the mansion where an old man was sitting with a cane in his hands. Abel felt his breath tighten as his eyes settled on the old man, who was still brimming with energy.

He didn’t know why, but he subconsciously had this feeling that he wouldn’t be able to resist if this old man attacked.

But the old man had a very gentle and doting smile that made him let his guard down a little. There’s no way this kind old man will be dangerous. I must be hallucinating again.

"Walrus, thank you for bringing him." He turned to the rest of the people in the hall. "You all can leave us now."

His attendants and bodyguards bowed and left the room. They weren’t worried about his safety at all. What a joke, anyone who could harm the old man could kill all of them with a single smack. They all left except for one Black man, though. He looked reluctant to leave.

"Leave, Kindo. I want to talk only with the kid and Walrus." The old man impatiently tapped his cane on the floor.

Abel looked at the Black man warily. He could feel a sense of danger from this man that clearly surpassed that of Enzo and the pink-haired girl. He was no ordinary man. Kindo nodded reluctantly and gave Laura a threatening look.

The pink-haired girl knew what the look was for and quickly left with the others. She threw a final look at Abel, wondering who he truly was. His identity didn’t make sense at all. She had been here a few times with her master, and even though she wasn’t clear about the old man’s status, she knew he was one of the higher-ups, clearly above her master.

After they all left, the old man waved his hands in the air in a strange rhythm. Abel didn’t know exactly what he did, but he could tell the old man wasn’t bored enough to be doing something useless.

The old man’s gaze finally settled on him. He had mixed emotions as he looked at the son of his student, standing before him completely unaware of the cruel fate that had befallen his father.

All of Abel's classmates were looking at him like he was some alien. Abel had been strangely quiet today. Mathew hit his shoulder playfully and whispered, "Why are you so moody today? Did someone steal your babe?" "Get lost!" Abel kicked him harshly. Unbeknownst to them, someone else had been monitoring him the whole time. "Abel, are you okay?" Mrs. Alicia couldn't hold herself back anymore and asked worriedly. Among all the teachers in the school, she was the one most familiar with Abel despite being quite new. It was due to Abel’s constant teasing. That had left a deep impression on her. "Yes, I'm fine, Miss Alicia." "Having a bad day, I see. Meet me in the staffroom after this class." She didn’t say anything else and continued teaching the class. Mathew patted his friend again, playfully. "You are my GOAT, Abel. My mentor." Abel knew what he was getting at but ignored him. Funny enough, all the guys seemed to agree with Mathew as they looked at Abel in reveren

"You truly live here?" Laura asked, shocked. They were now parked in front of Abel's apartment building. "Yeah, why? You wanna come in?" he replied. "Nah, I’ll pass. Besides, you look like shit right now, and I think you need a bath and sleep." She patted him gently. Abel almost cursed out loud. How is this a pat from a girl? It felt like he was being thumped by a polar bear. "Whatever. Bye." "Wait," she stopped him. "Let’s exchange contacts. Master said you can reach me if you have any problems." She blushed a bit. What’s with the blushing? He was stunned. Her head was down, teeth lightly clenched, and she held out her phone with a pink shade coloring her cheeks. Abel’s heart almost melted. She looked so damn cute, he nearly pinched her cheeks right there. He took her phone, and they exchanged numbers. I guess this is the first time she’s asked a guy for his number. Fierce outside, but really innocent underneath. "Here," he said, handing her phone back. He couldn’t

"You might be wondering why I called you here, son. It's something related to your father. I failed you, son." The old man bowed with a sad expression. Abel was alarmed. What was his father's relationship with these people? And what did he mean by he failed him? Abel was starting to panic. "You also know my father?" he asked curiously. The old man looked up and smiled fondly. "He's my disciple. My best disciple ever, and the only one who managed to surpass me." "Wait," Abel's mind jumped. "Is my father an Awakened?" He had heard Enzo use that term before and could roughly guess it referred to people with superpowers like Laura and Walrus. The old man smiled approvingly. "You’re very smart. Indeed, your father is very powerful. But he isn't an Awakened. He's a cultivator." "A cultivator?!" Abel repeated, surprised by the new term. He wasn’t entirely unfamiliar with it, but everything he knew about his dad screamed otherwise. Just a poor, perverted drunkard, how could such

He felt like crying, but there were no tears. One bloodkin was already troublesome, and now, another one who seemed even stronger had appeared. It was like the system didn’t want him to live a good life, sending him to his death like this. He looked at the spot he had been standing on before, the ground was sizzling with a blood-like liquid, as if hot lava had been poured over it. “Brother Enzo!” The first bloodkin he fought called out happily. He stood up from the floor and clenched his fist tightly. “Beat him, brother! This lowly human dared to lay his hands on me.” He had a mad smile on his face, unable to hide the hate he felt toward Abel for defeating him. He wished his brother would just finish him off immediately. “Shut up, Andrew. A level one like you couldn’t even handle an ordinary human. What right do you have to call yourself a bloodkin? You’ll reflect on your mistakes once we get home.” Andrew's eyes widened in shock. Ordinary human? So he wasn’t even awakened?
