The elevator doors opened when it reached the first floor. Jack stepped out after observing the happiness of the guests upstairs. He walked slowly, sat in a simple chair reserved for him, right at the edge of the room, without a table.
Jack smiled contentedly as he noticed the staff treating the guests very well, even though their appearance was clearly different from the usual guests at the restaurant.
"Would you like to sample our dishes, Sir? We would be happy to prepare it for you," a woman's voice surprised Jack. It wasn't a server; it was the restaurant manager herself.
Jack smiled. "Maybe a cup of coffee."
Mrs. Sisca called for a waiter, asking for authentic civet coffee to be made. She asked again, "Is there anything else, Sir? I apologize that the VVIP membership didn’t exist before; for now, only the VIP room is available. But don't worry, the dishes and service we offer are certainly more special than what the VIP members usually receive."
In fact, Mrs. Sisca was a bit confused about how to serve Jack. As the only VVIP member, the young man had chosen the worst seat in the restaurant, with no table. After all, Jack was entitled to the best of everything at SweetSky.
"No, I'm full."
This time, Mrs. Sisca’s eyes widened, and for a moment, she couldn’t contain her surprise. It was the first time she had seen someone like Jack, coming to SweetSky with many guests, yet not intending to eat there.
"Make sure my guests receive the best," Jack said.
"Of course, Sir," Mrs. Sisca bowed respectfully. "I will check the gifts you provided for the guests. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to let the waiter know. It’s a pleasure to serve you." She backed away, not wanting to disturb him.
Jack nodded. Moments later, a waiter brought him a cup of premium civet coffee. He inhaled the aroma of the coffee rising with the thin smoke before taking a sip.
[Sir, she has arrived.]
The System's voice startled Jack. "Who?"
[Your potential girlfriend, Emma.]
Jack choked and coughed, bowing his head.
The waiter who had delivered the coffee sighed in disappointment. He had to forgo his wages for two weeks just to enjoy a cup of civet coffee, but now half of it had been spilled on the floor.
Someone reached for Jack's cup of coffee. When Jack looked up, his body seemed to freeze. In front of him stood a young woman smiling gently, holding out a bottle of mineral water.
Jack stood still for a while, gazing at the woman's face. It felt as if the wind was brushing against his face, bringing a sense of peace he had longed for.
[You are mesmerized, Sir!]
Jack snapped back to reality. The System's brief statement caused his face to flush slightly.
"Thank you," he said, accepting the water she offered.
The young woman asked for a chair to be placed beside Jack. Then she sat down and asked, "Did you come here alone?" She glanced to the left and right.
"Yes." Jack replied shortly. His face was still nervous.
"I came with them." The woman pointed to a group. An elderly woman was chatting with a few children.
"If you want, you can join us. I’m grateful that a philanthropist made it possible for people like us to be here. Before, not even the thought of eating, let alone entering this restaurant, ever crossed my mind. Even though it's just for one night, this will be an unforgettable gift for them."
[Blink, Sir. Your eyes can dry out.]
Jack immediately turned his face away, hiding a small smile, realizing he had been staring at the woman beside him without blinking.
"Why? Did I say something wrong?" she asked.
"No, no. I just... um, I think I should thank that philanthropist. Because of him, I can experience the warmth and joy of tonight," Jack said, speaking more about himself.
The woman smiled widely, showing her neat and clean set of teeth. "You're right. I don't know who he is. If I ever meet him, I should at least give him a hug to thank him."
Jack tried to hide his pleased smile.
"Hey, we’ve been talking for a while, but I don’t know your name yet!"
Undoubtedly, the joyful expression on the woman’s face made Jack even more captivated.
"I’m Jack."
"Hi Jack, my name is—"
"Emma," Jack said spontaneously, unknowingly cutting her off.
Emma eagerly asked, "How did you know my name?"
'Damn!' Jack thought, gritting his teeth.
However, Emma’s question validated the information the System had previously provided him. Jack's eyes shifted to the left and right, searching for the right words to say.
"Um, you said it earlier." Jack winced.
"Really?" Emma furrowed her brow. "Why don’t I remember? Hmm, maybe I’m starting to lose my memory." She chuckled softly.
"Alright, Jack, come to our table if you want, don’t be shy. It’s been nice talking to you."
Emma paused for a moment before smiling and saying, "I don’t know why, but even though this is our first meeting, I feel like I’ve known you."
Emma returned Jack’s coffee and then moved to the table where her foster family was sitting. She briefly turned back and flashed a smile at Jack.
[Quick, stand up and follow her, Sir.]
"No."
[Why is that, Sir?] The System’s voice sounded protestant.
Jack finished his coffee, leaving only the dregs. After exhaling, he replied, "I don’t want to disturb the warmth of that family. You know, sometimes it’s wiser to keep a distance than to let our selfishness mar the beauty of the moment."
Jack smiled, knowing the System didn’t argue with him.
By the time the dinner event was over, and the guests left the restaurant with gifts from Jack, no one knew that Jack was the ‘Philanthropist’ they had been talking about throughout the event.
Jack had intentionally hidden this, even from the staff. The only people who knew were the restaurant’s top officials, including the manager.
Now, Jack walked happily toward his old scooter. He refused, even forbade, the restaurant manager or any of the restaurant staff from escorting him to the parking lot.
However, when Jack’s eyes scanned the parking lot to find his scooter, something strange suddenly happened!
"Why is my vision blurry?"
He was sure everything had been clear earlier. It seemed impossible for his glasses to suddenly get dirty, as he hadn’t walked through any dusty paths. Nevertheless, Jack took off his glasses to clean them.
In his mind, he suspected that his astigmatism might have worsened, causing the lenses he was using now to no longer help his vision.
After wiping them with his shirt, Jack realized something. He put his glasses back on.
Jack froze!
He took off his glasses and put them back on again to make sure.
"It’s impossible," he whispered in disbelief.
Jack stared at the glasses he had been wearing for years. He had replaced the lenses several times to correct his vision. Before this, he had suffered from severe astigmatism, nearly 3.00 diopters. It had clearly disrupted his activities when he wasn’t wearing glasses. But now, the opposite was happening.
"Why can I see so clearly without my glasses?"

Chapter 62
In the front yard, Jack and Emma continued their conversation while Grandma took an afternoon nap. They talked about the unexpected things that had happened since that morning.“I hope you’ll feel comfortable working at your new place,” Jack said, gazing deeply at Emma. In his heart, he was determined to make that hope come true.Emma smiled. “I’m optimistic everything will get better. Working at Redwave Group is the dream of so many people.”“That’s good.”“Do you know why I feel so confident?”“Tell me.”“Because of you. I don’t know why, but ever since I met you, I’ve felt much more… safe.”Jack chuckled softly. “Alright then, I guess I’m a security guard now.”Emma shook her head. “Not like that. You know, maybe you don’t realize it, but you always help me out of trouble.”“Oh, so now I’m a locksmith.”“Jack, you keep joking.”“Well… it seems I have talent as a comedian.”They laughed together. Slowly, the atmosphere grew quiet as their laughter faded.“I’m sorry for rudely turnin
Chapter 61
Emma excitedly shared the good news with her grandmother. She beamed as she showed off the paper bag she had received from Redwave Group.Jack watched Emma’s radiant face as she took the contents out of the bag.“Grandma, it still feels too hard to believe. I—I’ve never experienced an interview this easy and fast before. I was accepted right away! And look, they even gave me these clothes.”“Redwave Group is a giant corporation, after all. Before going to the interview, I searched for a lot of information about their recruitment process online.”“From the reviews and comments I read, ninety-five percent of people said how incredibly difficult it is to pass the employee selection at Redwave Group. Many of them had to try several times before getting in. And quite a few failed repeatedly and eventually looked for work elsewhere.”“Oh my God, this is amazing. Look! These uniforms are so nice and high-quality. I feel like jumping up and down because I’m so happy!” Emma exclaimed as she he
Chapter 60
Emma’s jaw dropped before a wide smile spread across her face. She clapped her hands and even hopped in place, like a child who had just been allowed to play in the rain.It might sound improper, but she was genuinely happy to see Jack acting a little… 'evil'.“No! I won’t do it!” Elena shouted fiercely. She stood up on her own, ignoring Victor’s outstretched hand that was about to help her.“It’s fine,” Jack said indifferently. He took Emma’s hand. “Let’s go home. Grandma is already waiting for us.”“But—”Emma felt a bit disappointed that Jack didn’t force Victor and Elena to comply with his condition. Not because she wanted them to clean her shoes, but because she wanted to show the two of them that Jack now had 'authority' that they couldn’t act however they pleased anymore.“Our business here is done. Let’s just leave,” Jack said with a smile.Emma couldn’t refuse him. She nodded weakly and replied in a low, unenthusiastic voice, “Alright.”To be honest, the situation put Victor

Jack didn’t stop Emma when she took the initiative to turn off his phone. He simply smiled as he listened to her ranting about Victor and Elena.Emma’s grumbling finally came to a halt when she received a message from the Head of HR, instructing her to pick up her uniform at the reception desk. Although she felt puzzled, remembering that earlier the receptionists had been wearing different outfits, Emma still invited Jack to head to the main lobby with her. When they arrived in front of one of the reception desks, Emma turned her head as a receptionist from another counter called out to her.“Miss Wexler!”The woman waved with a smile, carrying a floral-patterned paper bag.Emma smiled and tugged on Jack’s hand before approaching her.“Is that my uniform?”“Yes! This is all yours.”The senior receptionist glanced briefly at Jack before giving a small nod.Emma turned to Jack, then accepted the paper bag with a radiant smile.Just as she was in such a cheerful mood, Emma was shocked by
Chapter 58
“Madam, I can’t do that,” Victor refused immediately.Elena followed at once. “Me neither. T-that doesn’t make any sense.”To both of them, kneeling before Jack was the lowest form of humiliation. In their eyes, Jack was nothing more than someone beneath them, someone not even worthy of sitting on equal ground with them. So why should they lower themselves before a man whose status was far below theirs? But Daisy didn’t bother arguing. She said firmly, “That’s up to you. What you need to understand is that this is not an offer, it’s an order. And you already know the consequences of defying the Director.”Victor and Elena swallowed hard.Daisy stood up.“You have fifteen minutes. Make sure you don’t waste them.”“Madam, wait… Madam…” Victor called out after Daisy as she left the room. But she didn’t respond at all.Victor slumped back into his seat in frustration. Mr. Philanthropy had truly cornered him.“Victor, what are we supposed to do? I don’t want to apologize, let alone kneel

Victor and Elena grew even more tense. Especially after seeing the cold expression on Daisy’s face once she ended the call with Mr. Philanthropy. They had no idea what kind of fate awaited them next. Their heads hung low; neither of them dared to lift their gaze.Daisy clenched her fists.“Just a moment ago, you were even threatening me. So tell me, what’s weighing so heavily on your heads now that you don’t even dare to look at me?”Still keeping his head lowered, Victor said, “I am truly sorry, Madam. Y-you may ask me to do anything, as long as I’m still allowed to come here again in the future to submit another proposal.”“I refuse,” Daisy replied coldly. If it weren’t for Jack’s instructions, she would have slapped and thrown them out long ago. But she knew very well, what Jack wanted would strike them far harder. Not physically… but mentally.“But you’re lucky,” Daisy said after sitting down across from Victor and Elena. Both of them instinctively lifted their heads, staring at D
