When Alex finally opened his eyes, the sun blazed overhead.
He was sprawled on a sandy shore, waves whispering at his feet, the midday heat searing his skin.
He staggered to his feet, brushing sand from his face—and that’s when he felt it. Something was different.
For ten years, sudden eruptions of inner force had paralyzed him without warning.
But now... nothing.
The flaw was gone.
No more blocked energy. No more sluggish steps.
It was as if something inside him had been released.
But how?
His eyes dropped to his neck—where his mother’s pendant should’ve been.
Gone.
So it really had dissolved into his body after all.
He’d thought it might be a hallucination due to the strike on his head, but the strength and sudden clarity coursing through him proved otherwise.
Alex called upon his energy again, and this time, there was no hindrance.
The surge of power within him was overwhelming, more than ten times stronger than ever before.
His eyes burned bright as the sun.
No more flaws to stop him from now on!
Memories of Olivia and Jack came crashing back.
“Treacherous bastards,” he growled under his breath.
Just then, a dozen or so private helicopters, each clearly worth a fortune, rapidly closed in from the distance, and soon landed on the beach a few yards away from Alex.
Then, several groups of well-coordinated, sharply-dressed, and clearly trained bodyguards leaped out the helicopters.
They fanned out across the beach in disciplined formation, elite guards.
“Supreme Lord!”
The person who was obviously the leader rushed over and bowed.
“We lost your signal for more than 24 hours. We feared the worst.”
Alex calmly looked at Carlos.
Carlos was his trusted confidant.
He had personally trained Carlos, and appointed him as the senior agent of HEAVEN’S ORDER, the powerful and secretive organization he had built himself over the years, spanning multiple fields such as business, medicine, and more.
“More than 24 hours?”
Alex echoed, mind spinning. It felt like mere minutes.
“Thirty-two hours, to be precise, my Lord. Thank goodness you’re alright!”
Carlos bowed deeply, his heart heavy with fear and self-blame.
“Please forgive us for not noticing the anomaly earlier.”
“It’s not your fault. I told you lot not to keep an eye on me while I’m at home.”
Alex let out a self-mocking laugh thinking he almost die.
“How is my sister?”
“Our men discovered that your cousin-in-law Jack has tried to sniff around your sister a few times in the past few hours, but we made sure he was turned away.”
Hearing this, Alex’s gaze turned even colder.
So Jack really had a death wish.
“How is my wife? And what’s the full situation?”
Carlos stiffened and bowed his head even lower.
“Sir, Miss Sophia Fairchild is safe, nothing unusual there. But we've got a family issue brewing about you and Miss Olivia Fairchild.”
“Go on.”
Carlos took a breath, speaking carefully.
“Miss Olivia's been spreading a story among the Fairchilds, saying you tried to assault her. She claims Jack stepped in just in time, playing the hero and leaving you injured and embarrassed after the attempt supposedly failed. The family's starting to buy it, seeing you as some kind of predator now.”
Alex's eyes narrowed slightly, anger simmering beneath his otherwise calm expression.
“Olivia’s playing the victim card hard—acting traumatized. She’s making herself out to be the innocent party, and it's working. Right now, she's got most of the Fairchild family turned against you.”
Alex gave a cold, humorless smirk.
Clever story.
A neat excuse for his absence.
And a perfect cover to bury their filth.
“Miss Olivia’s now playing the role of a broken saint—crying, acting traumatized, even threatening suicide, claiming your touch has utterly defiled her.”
“That bitch,” Alex snarled softly, vividly recalling her dirty act with Jack—and who knew how many others she'd secretly entertained.
“Sir,” Carlos interjected calmly, eyes narrowing in quiet determination.
“If you wish, we can eliminate the entire Fairchild family in five minutes flat. Just give the order, and I’ll handle it myself. Swift, clean, and no one left alive to tarnish your name.”
Alex frowned slightly.
“Sir, people should feel privileged just to be in your presence—especially someone like Olivia Fairchild. If she can’t appreciate that, she’s hardly worth—”
“Enough!” Alex stopped him. “You honestly believe I need to coerce any woman into my bed?”
“Who could have guessed that I’d run into two bastards committing incest, and be completely caught off guard?”
Alex’s eyes narrowed, his voice cold as ice.
“My Lord, should we erase these two bastards? They deserve punishment!”
Carlos’ lips pressed into a thin, furious line.
“No need. I’ll deal with those backstabbers myself.”
Jack and Olivia not only almost killed him, but they also planned to harm his wife and sister.
If he simply finished them off, wouldn’t that be too lenient on them?
“As you wish, my Lord,” Although reluctant, Carlos acknowledged, before continuing.
“Anything else?”
Alex asked, while slipping into the clean clothes that one of the bodyguards handed him.
“Sir Renault Dupont, the wealthiest man in London, has been desperate to meet you. He claims he’s acquired the item you requested—says it’s ready at last.”
Alex nodded, “Next time he calls, forward it to me.”
“Yes, my Lord. And ...”
Just then, Alex’s smartwatch suddenly buzzed loudly against his wrist, which muted Carlos.
The screen showed a single name, which repeated nearly sixty times.
It was Sophia — his wife.

One of the London’s underworld notorious man.“Did he say Rouge?” someone muttered, clutching his wife’s arm.“Rouge… he’s Rouge’s son…” someone whispered in shock.“Bloody hell, not here…” another muttered, pulling his friend back.“Oh my God… We shouldn't be here...” another voice whispered shakily.Daniel’s eyes swept the crowd, sharp and dangerous. “Listen carefully,” he said, voice low, cold, dangerous. “If any of you still want to live without problems… you stay the hell out of this. Don’t even think about interfering.”The guests froze. And then, slowly, from the corners of the hall, men began to move. Daniel’s men. They slipped out of the crowd. Their presence was enough to send more shivers down spines. Panic rippled. Chairs scraped. A glass shattered somewhere. One by one, guests began edging toward the exit. No one wanted

Names began to be called one by one. Fairchild wasn’t among them yet, but they're also not the companies who won Dupont partnership. Tension built around the table. Ethan’s confident facade tightened slightly—if Fairchild wasn’t called, everyone would know he had done nothing.Minutes passed. Still no Fairchild. Ethan’s smirk faltered ever so slightly, beads of sweat threatening to betray him. But then, the announcer cleared his throat and spoke the final name.“Finally, this year’s partnership with The Dupont goes to… Fairchild Company!”The crowd turned, and it was clear. They've made it. A burst of applause filled the hall and Sophia’s eyes widened.Cara clapped her hands excitedly, almost bouncing in her seat. “See! I knew it! Sir Ethan handled everything perfectly!”The applause died down, but the excitement at the table didn’t. Sophia leaned forward, eyes shining. “Ethan, you did this, right? You really handled everything?”Ethan shrugged, forcing a smooth smile, though inside,

CHAPTER 31Ethan excused himself from Sophia and Cara, muttering that he needed to make a quick call. He stepped aside and dialed his father, keeping his tone smooth.“Father, I need a favor,” he began. “There’s a situation with a friend. They weren’t included in the Dupont selection. I thought maybe—”“Do you fucking hear yourself right now?!” his father exploded in the other line without letting him finish. “Are you seriously trying to play hero again? To what? To impress your woman? For once, think before opening your mouth!”Ethan blinked. He didn't expect that his father will give this kind of reaction.“Do you even understand our place? If it were possible, we would bow to the Duponts for their grace. That’s the level we’re talking about! And you want to help some insignificant family? Do you even see what our family needs right now? You’re thinking like a child, Ethan. Weak-minded. Stupid. Why waste energy on people who can’t even stand on their own?” his father barked.Ethan’s j

Sophia’s breath caught in her throat. For a moment she stood frozen, staring into the mirror. The reflection staring back at her was calm, collected—but inside, it felt like the floor was splitting open beneath her feet. Not on the list. Her lips pressed tight, but her voice cracked anyway. “Are you sure, Cara?”Cara’s hands trembled around her phone. She nodded hard. “Yes. I swear it’s true. A friend of mine was one of the organizers. She said it’s already decided.” Her voice splintered, sharp with anger. “It has to be because of her. Because of Cassandra Dupont, doesn’t it?”Sophia’s chest clenched. Could it really be that simple? Months of work—sleepless nights, endless revisions—swept aside like nothing. All because of Cassandra Dupont?Cara’s mouth twisted with fury. “Or because of earlier? Of course! We didn’t know she was a Dupont. But Alex knew. That bastard knew and said nothing! He stood there and let us look like fools. How low can you sink?”She kept spitting curses, but S

The main hall pulsed with anticipation.Waiters glided between tables, silver trays balanced with crystal glasses and delicate plates, weaving through the hum of chatter and the soft strains of a string quartet in the corner.Everyone in the room knew—the real spectacle hadn’t begun yet.Near the front, Sophia sat stiffly with Ethan and Cara. Her chin was high, her expression calm, but the rapid beat of her heart betrayed her nerves.Ethan leaned in, his voice smooth, confident. “Relax, Sophia. The Dupont representative will be here any moment. When they arrive, I’ll make sure their eyes land on you first.”Cara, eager, added quickly, “That’s right, Ms. Sophia. You’ve prepared better than anyone. And with Sir Ethan guiding us, nothing can possibly go wrong.”Sophia gave a polite smile, though her fingers tapped a restless rhythm against the tablecloth.“I hope so. Everything depends on who they’ve sent. If it’s the right Dupont, this changes everything.”Before Ethan could reply, the

Ethan’s eyes narrowed as he tracked Cassandra and Alex disappearing into the crowd. His jaw clenched, though his posture stayed composed, arms folded tight across his chest. “Hmph… she’s beautiful,” he muttered under his breath.“But if she’s with that Alex, she clearly isn’t thinking straight.”Cara’s lips pressed thin, her eyes blazing with venom.“That bitch,” she spat, her voice low and shaking with rage. “How dare she just stroll in here like she owns the place—ugh! I hate her!”Sophia drew a slow breath, steadying the fire in the air. Her gaze locked on both of them, calm yet unyielding.“Enough,” she said firmly. “Forget them. What matters now is which Dupont shows up tonight. That’s what everyone’s waiting for. That’s where our focus needs to be.”Ethan straightened, confidence returning to his stance. A sharp smile curved across his face.“You’re right, Sophia. Don’t worry. I’ll make sure you get the perfect chance to meet them. Trust me.”Sophia’s expression softened, gratit
