"What’s wrong with you?" Yasmin seemed to have noticed Ryan's indifference towards her and was surprised for a moment, because Ryan had never treated her this way before.

"Nothing, I'm just tired after wandering around outside for two days." Ryan shook his head, still ignoring Yasmin's gaze.

To outsiders, it seemed that he had only gotten separated from the team while searching for food and disappeared for a day.

Only Ryan himself knew that in this short day, he had experienced the entire process from birth to death and from death to birth. Both his mentality and personality had undergone tremendous changes under the pressure of death.

"Okay, then. Let's go back and join the others." Yasmin didn't know why Ryan suddenly became so cold towards her, but because of her pride as a beauty, she also lost the desire to continue the conversation.

In Yasmin's eyes, Ryan was definitely an extremely ordinary person. Just like his name, he had an ordinary family background, ordinary abilities, ordinary looks and height, and ordinary work ability. He was a person from a completely different world from herself.

Just because Ryan once chased after her, and even tried to please her repeatedly, he was able to maintain a seemingly good relationship with her. Of course, all this was based on the premise that he was a drooling dog.

But now, Ryan stopped licking her boots, and his attitude was cold. He was even unwilling to pay attention to her.

The atmosphere suddenly became a little awkward. Fortunately, there were many survivors on night patrol following Yasmin. Seeing that Ryan, who had disappeared for a day, was found alive, they all came forward enthusiastically to express their concern and happiness.

"Thank you for your concern. I'm fine." Facing these people's questions, Ryan's attitude was of gratitude but it remained cold. He just nodded indifferently, squeezed through the crowd, and walked towards the gathering point inside the cafeteria.

Ryan would not be like this in the past. Perhaps it was because he had experienced a life-and-death experience that made him tend to be more indifferent.

Soon, he squeezed through the crowd and re-entered the gathering point.

After three months of being a hiding place, the interior space of the cafeteria had also been transformed to a certain extent. The hall on the first floor was used to store groceries and various daily necessities, and there were many survivors guarding them.

The second floor was the living area for the survivors. It was divided into small rooms with wooden boards. Most of the survivors slept upstairs.

As for the third floor of the warehouse, it wss the living area for a small number of important people, including Wallace.

After the end of the world, the survivors were divided into three categories: one were the deviants with awakened veins for evolution. The second were the potentials who had the chance for evolution after they awaken their veins. The last were the commoners with no ability to evolve.

Before the recent events, Ryan's room was also on the second floor, so he subconsciously walked towards the stairs, intending to return to his original room to rest for a while.

In a few hours, a wave of zombies would appear according to his system notification. Although he has completed the initial evolution, his current abilities do not allow him to face a zombie tide independently, so he must come up with a solution as soon as possible and complete the two tasks while ensuring his own safety.

However, just as he stepped onto the stairs and was about to return to the second floor of the warehouse, a fat guy appeared in front of him again, blocking the staircase. "Ryan?"

Ryan stopped, looked up, and stared at the person standing on the steps. He raised an eyebrow and responded indifferently, "Yes, what do you want, Lucas?"

Lucas was also Ryan's former colleague, but their relationship has always been bad. Especially after the apocalypse, this fat guy who once pursued Yasmin like Ryan, actually turned to Wallace in order to survive and became one of his most loyal brothers.

Of course, there were more reasons why Ryan hated him. On the previous day, when he was ambushed by Wallace and kicked into the zombie swarm. The guy closest to Ryan was Lucas. Not only did not help him, but there was disdain in his eyes when turned around and ran away behind Wallace.

"How come you're still alive?"

"Hmm?" Thinking back to what happened the other day, Ryan's eyes suddenly turned cold, "Why do all of you seem to want me dead...?"

"Hey……what do you mean? Nobody wishes you dead..." Lucas obviously didn't expect Ryan to say that. He was stunned for a moment, then he forced a smile from his round face, "I'm just curious to know how you survived those things?"

"Maybe it's just pure luck, or maybe I'm already undead, just like them." Ryan ignored this guy and said. He was about to continue walking forward, but after taking only two steps, he stopped again.

Just because, in the corridor leading to his room, a tall and familiar figure appeared, which made Ryan narrow his eyes into blades.

It was Wallace!

At this moment, Wallace was surrounded by several minions of his who he liked to call little brothers, walking towards the stairwell with a smile on his face. When he saw Ryan who was left behind, came back, he was obviously shocked for a moment and the smile on his face gradually froze

However, this guy didn't ask Ryan how he got back like the others did. He just froze for a moment, then showed his signature arrogant sneer. "I'm quite surprised that you could make it back."

"Yeah, I didn't expect that I would still be able to return to this place alive either." Ryan was also smiling, but his eyes were narrowed into slits, but his gaze was as sharp as a knife. The murderous intent in his heart kept beating, making him clench his fists tightly. The burning anger was almost devouring his sanity.

Ryan, struggling to hold back his anger, almost pounced on Wallace, but in the end, he still managed to control himself and endured it.

Now was not the time to completely turn against him. After all, Wallace was also a deviant, and he had acquired the ability to evolve as early as the first month after the doomsday. Added to that were the minions around him, his little brothers, if there wss a head-on conflict, he would definitely come out worse off.

So he chose to endure it for the time being. He just raised his eyes, stared coldly at Wallace, and asked in a hoarse voice. "Why, Wallace?"

"Sir, I want to tell you that this experiment is very important to us, extremely important. It is our most important task this year! I hope you can assist us in completing it!" The doctors were also anxious. If the military abandoned this experiment, they didn't know what would happen next time they needed to apply."But I can't guarantee your safety right now! Do you understand? I need to be responsible for your safety. Otherwise, if we can't even protect your safety, this experiment is meaningless!" The officer refused without even thinking. If they couldn't guarantee the most basic safety, even the best experiment would be a death sentence."But we can't give up!" The doctors rushed forward and surrounded the officer, repeatedly emphasizing the importance of their experiment. If they canceled this time, it wouldn't be so easy for the military to agree next time. They had already used many connections to get the military's cooperation this time."I need to guarantee your safety! Com

  • 356. Accident

The roar of engines filled the sky as the helicopter flew rapidly close to the mountains. Several huge black shadows flew through the deadwood forest, scattering a large number of seeds. From time to time, streaks of blue and white light shot up from behind them. Under the pilot's superb flying skills, the helicopter jumped and circled back and forth, each time just barely missing its own fuselage."Damn it, take them down already! Our fuel can't keep us flying like this!" a helicopter pilot cursed. They had been bombarding the enemy the whole way, and if they weren't so skilled, they would have already been thrown down to feed the mutated beasts."Here we come!" The two armed helicopters quickly turned around and pounced. Rocket launchers mounted on their short wings spewed flames, and one 57mm rocket after another streaked across the sky and crashed into the forest, bursting into flames. It was clear that the enemy was wiped out."We're running low on ammunition. How much longer do

  • 355. On the Road

"Alright, let's take this one! It looks alright!" Everyone looked at the road that led the way, and they could only nod in agreement. The main reason for avoiding it was that there were no bridges to cross and no other towns. Why avoid it? To prevent large numbers of mutated beasts from gathering in towns.Whether people like it or not, these mutated beast armies are indeed relying on the original human towns to operate. These towns are mainly located on various transportation routes. Just as an army needs roads to move forward, so do these towns. Otherwise, if you expect everyone to scatter and run through the forest, who knows where they would end up before they can regroup into a large army? However, this also raised another concern for them. This road doesn't have any bridges, but they mainly travel through mountainous areas. After so many years, they can't be sure whether these mountain roads still exist or if there are any landslides blocking the roads. These are all unknowns.

  • 354. Recruiting Soldiers

"Therefore, we need to increase our forces and comrades." Ryan thought for a moment. Currently, their total number of people is only nineteen, and after excluding him, there are only eighteen people. If they encounter a large group of mutated beasts, it will be the end of the game of collecting corpses.“Commander, we need more than just more troops; we also need more transport vehicles. Judging from the current capacity of the mining trucks, we can only manage a maximum of thirty people. If we need more, we would have to build a large mining plant.” The peacekeeping infantryman thought for a moment and, given that no one suggested making the space too small, fifteen people per mining truck would be fine."Then let's make thirty men, and add an infantry squad!" Ryan thought for a moment. Adding an infantry squad would make it exactly twelve men. As for the extra man, well, let's just put him in the mining truck turret. The mining truck turret can also accommodate one man for routine t

  • 353. Currency

"Sir, are you really not going to take a look? They're all genuine goods!" The other party greedily looked at the equipment on Ryan and his group. Seeing that they were so well-equipped, he figured they wouldn't be short of money. This batch of goods had been stuck in his hands for a long time, and if he couldn't sell them, he would suffer huge losses."I said, I'm not interested!" Ryan pushed the other person away. The peacekeeping infantry and conscripts gave the other person a warning look and ran over without looking back.Ryan took a few deep breaths silently and said nothing more. He simply led the group to wander around the streets below. They hadn't forgotten their goal: to find a complete map, or at least to know their current location."Hmm?! This is the only store." Ryan and the others saw a general merchandise store on a street corner. It was piled high with all sorts of odds and ends, and there was no one buying anything in front of the store. This made them feel a littl

  • 352. Slaves?

"Hey, what are you pretending to be so proper for?" The older sister in the shop was very unhappy and gave Ryan and the others an international hand gesture. A conscript turned around and saw it, but ignored it and walked away as usual.Ryan didn't have such thoughts. What kind of person would dare to open a shop in such a dog-eat-dog place? If they really thought that way, they would probably be dead outside, their bones already buried with nowhere to rest. The grass on their graves would be at least three meters high. If they couldn't control themselves, they wouldn't even get a moment of pleasure before their heads were gone.A middle-aged man sat on a sofa with more than a dozen tubes inserted into his body. He was surrounded by men in black suits, each with a pistol on their waist and a submachine gun hanging on their chest. Outside the door, more than a dozen soldiers were patrolling fully armed."How is my father?" A young man walked in, looked at his father sitting motionless
