The silence in the stable was heavy, broken only by the dripping of water from the overturned bucket. Ye Chen stood amidst the wreckage, his chest heaving slightly not from exhaustion, but from the sheer thrill of the energy coursing through his veins.

"System," Ye Chen whispered, his voice trembling with a mix of excitement and cold determination. "Show me my status."

[Affirmative.]

A ripple of blue light distorted the air in front of him. The translucent screen expanded, resolving into a crisp, detailed table of data.

HOST STATUS

Name: Ye Chen

Race: Human (Chaos Bloodline Awakened)

Cultivation: Body Tempering Stage 3

Experience Points: 0 / 500

System Points (SP): 50

Cultivation Technique: Chaos Body Tempering Art (God Tier)

ATTRIBUTES

Strength: 12 (Normal Human: 5)

Agility: 8 (Normal Human: 5)

Defense: 10 (Normal Human: 5)

Spirit: 25 (Normal Human: 5)

Perception 15 (Normal Human: 5)

Ye Chen swept his gaze over the numbers. "Strength is twelve? No wonder I could lift Li Hu like a sack of grain. But my Agility is lacking."

[Host has 50 System Points available. Points can be allocated directly to Attributes or used in the Shop. Does Host wish to allocate now?]

"I need speed," Ye Chen muttered, thinking back to the clumsy punch Li Hu had thrown. "Strength is useless if I cannot hit the target. If I am to fight the Inner Sect disciples, I need to be faster than their eyes can follow."

"System, put thirty points into Agility. Put the remaining twenty into Strength."

[Allocating points... Done.]

A sudden sensation of lightness flooded Ye Chen’s limbs. It felt as if the gravity of the world had suddenly halved. He took a step, and his body moved almost faster than his mind could register. He blurred across the stable, appearing at the other end in the blink of an eye.

"Good," Ye Chen clenched his fist, feeling the new explosive power hidden within his muscles. "This is what I need."

[Warning. Hostile intent detected within a fifty meter radius. Multiple targets approaching.]

Ye Chen narrowed his eyes. "They are here already? Li Hu runs fast when he is scared."

Outside the heavy wooden doors, angry voices shattered the morning calm.

"He is in there, Brother Zhang! I swear it! The trash went crazy! He used some demonic art!"

"Shut up, you useless waste," a deeper, booming voice replied. "A Body Tempering Stage 2 cultivator beaten by a cripple? You have lost all face for the Outer Sect Enforcement Hall."

"But Brother Zhang! He broke my cultivation! You have to kill him! Lady Su Rou said..."

"I know what Lady Su Rou said!" the booming voice snapped. "She wants him miserable. She didn't say we couldn't break a few more bones."

Ye Chen stood in the center of the stable, his hands clasped behind his back. He did not look like a servant waiting for punishment. He looked like a master waiting for a guest.

The doors were kicked open with a tremendous crash.

Splinters flew everywhere. Three men strode in, wearing the dark blue robes of the Enforcement Hall. The man in the lead was a tower of muscle, his skin bronzed and scarred.

Zhang Lie. The Enforcer of the Outer Sect. Body Tempering Stage 5.

Behind him cowered Li Hu, cradling his broken arm, his face pale and sweaty.

"So," Zhang Lie stepped over the pile of manure Ye Chen had been cleaning earlier. He looked around the stable with disgust before his gaze landed on Ye Chen. "The cripple has found some courage."

"I see you brought dogs to bark for you, Li Hu," Ye Chen said calmly, ignoring the giant man entirely.

Li Hu shrieked from behind Zhang Lie. "See! See how arrogant he is! Brother Zhang, crippled him! Tear his limbs off!"

Zhang Lie raised a hand to silence him. He stared at Ye Chen with a frown. He could sense something was different. The boy standing there did not have the aura of a cripple. There was a faint, dangerous pressure radiating from him.

"Ye Chen," Zhang Lie said, his voice dropping an octave. "You violated sect rules. You attacked a fellow disciple. You used a forbidden technique. As the Enforcer, I have the right to execute you on the spot."

"Sect rules?" Ye Chen laughed, a cold, dry sound. "Where were the sect rules when Su Rou stole my spiritual root? Where were the sect rules when Li Hu broke my ribs yesterday? Or do the rules only apply to the weak?"

"The strong define the rules," Zhang Lie sneered, cracking his knuckles. "And you are weak. Lady Su Rou is the future of the sect. You are just dust under her shoes. Be obedient and let me break your legs. It will save you pain."

"Come and try," Ye Chen unclasped his hands. He beckoned Zhang Lie with a single finger.

The Enforcer’s face turned red with rage. He was a Stage 5 cultivator. He could punch through stone. To be provoked by a stable boy was a humiliation he could not endure.

"Court death!" Zhang Lie roared.

He stomped the ground, cracking the stone floor beneath his boot. He launched himself at Ye Chen like a cannonball, his fist enveloped in a bright orange light.

[Ding! Enemy Detected: Zhang Lie. Cultivation: Body Tempering Stage 5. Combat Power: 45.]

[Analysis: Host Agility exceeds target. Host Strength exceeds target.]

[Victory Chance: 100%.]

The system’s blue window flashed for a split second.

To the onlookers, Zhang Lie was a blur of terrifying speed. To Ye Chen, he was a statue.

"You call this strength?" Ye Chen whispered.

As Zhang Lie’s fist came within an inch of his nose, Ye Chen moved. He didn't dodge backward. He stepped inside the guard.

His right hand, now reinforced with the twenty extra points of Strength, shot out like a viper. He didn't aim for the face. He aimed for the elbow.

Crack.

The sound was louder than a gunshot.

"Argh!" Zhang Lie’s roar of anger turned into a scream of pure agony. His arm bent backward, the bone snapping clean in half.

Ye Chen didn't stop. He spun, using his new Agility to deliver a devastating kick to Zhang Lie’s kneecap. The Enforcer crumbled, hitting the ground face first into the horse manure.

Silence descended on the stable once again.

The two lackeys behind Li Hu froze, their mouths hanging open. Their invincible Brother Zhang, a Stage 5 master, had been defeated in one move?

Ye Chen placed his foot on Zhang Lie’s head, pressing his face deeper into the filth.

"You said the strong define the rules," Ye Chen looked at the terrified disciples at the door. "I agree."

He looked down at the struggling Enforcer.

"Now, tell me," Ye Chen asked softly. "Who is the weak one?"

Ye Chen stood before the notice board in the empty entry plaza, his eyes fixed on the official declaration of his own execution. He lowered his hand to the hilt of his rusted sword. The Grand Assessment was the singular event that separated the worthless from the elite in the Azure Cloud Sect. It was held within the sunken arena of the Outer Peak, a massive stone basin carved directly into the mountain rock by the founding ancestors. Thousands of disciples gathered there today to fight for resources, for elevated status, and for the rare chance to step into the Inner Sect.Ye Chen turned away from the notice board and began walking toward the echoing cheers. His torn, blood stained gray robes flapped wildly in the wind.Inside the arena, the atmosphere was electric. His breath plumed into thick white clouds in the suddenly freezing air. He looked at the woman in the white robes. She did not speak. Her pitch black eyes were entirely void of reason, swirling with the same toxic green energy that pulsed within the cavern walls. She raised her pale hands again, and the temperature plummeted further."System," Ye Chen said, keeping his voice low as he gripped the rusted sword. "She is not attacking me specifically. "Boss, where did he go?" a mercenary’s voice trembled, echoing loudly against the sheer rock face. "Men do not just step into the sky.
