The beautiful view from the air while riding the winged horse made Yuan Fen feel very excited. This new experience became precious to this simple and orphaned young man. If not for the meeting with Manager Xu Bao, who managed and organised all the worker disciples in the Cloud Sword Sect, perhaps now he would have been reduced to begging.
Morning Star City was truly beautiful.

Yi Zan ran around happily in the market area of Morning Star City. She stopped at stalls selling snacks and confectionery, then pulled Yuan Fen's hand to enter a women's clothing store.
Unfortunately, as a Cloud Sword Sect disciple, Yuan Fen had to wear the uniform of the sect's robes, and could not adorn herself with any other clothing or accessories. Even so, Yi Zan still couldn't resist buying some female accessories, such as earrings, hair clips, rouge, lipstick, and powder.
Yuan Fen was astonished at Yi Zan's enthusiasm for various accessories and makeup tools. He didn't realise that girls liked to dress up and decorate early on, understanding the meaning of beauty that men would admire.
"Let's stop by to sample the delicious dishes at that fancy restaurant!" shouted Yi Zan after exiting the fashion store, setting his sights on a grand three-storey building that was bustling with people.
Morning Star City was bustling that afternoon. Apart from the townspeople, there were also many Cloud Sword Sect disciples milling around in every corner of the city. It was obvious from their uniforms that they wore swords and clouds on their chests. Proudly wearing those uniforms, they felt respected by the people around them. Anyone who dared to disturb the Cloud Sword Sect, a major force in the Great Ying Empire, would definitely feel the weight of the consequences.
Yi Zan and Yuan Fen stepped inside the Noble Dish Restaurant. On the ground floor, the atmosphere was bustling with hundreds of people sitting and enjoying the dishes, creating a cacophony that echoed all around.
"Hmm... not to my taste. It's too crowded, I won't be able to enjoy my meal. Let's move to the second floor," Yi Zan said as he pulled Yuan Fen's hand, inviting her to go upstairs.
Yuan Fen looked hesitant, but without much consideration, he followed Yi Zan who had dragged her. As they climbed up the stairs to the second floor, there were two servants at the ready. Yuan Fen's eyes glanced at them, identifying them as novice cultivators with Mortal realm 3. Their abilities were enough to scare away any unruly customers who might mess up the restaurant.
"Apologies, ladies and gentlemen... Floor 2 is reserved for cultivators..." The waiter could not continue when he saw the sword and cloud painting on Yi Zan's chest.
"Please go up to the 2nd floor," said the waiter politely, directing Yi Zan and Yuan Fen towards the upper floor.
The scenery on the second floor was quieter than the ground floor. The atmosphere was not as crowded, as this place was reserved for cultivators. Payment on the 2nd floor used Energy Stone, where 1 energy was equivalent to 100 gold coins. The food on this floor was indeed more expensive.
Yi Zan chose a spot by the window, enjoying the view of the bustling city below. "Give me a dish of snow bear paw cooked in spicy sauce, fried pigeon, young lamb wontons, grilled duck speciality of the southern region, and grapes from the Aryan Region in the West," Yi Zan said as he placed 10 low-grade energy stones on the table.
The servants of the Noble Cuisine Restaurant immediately greeted their orders with enthusiasm. Their demeanour changed, and they respected Yi Zan and Yuan Fen as young master and young lady. Money did have power in this world.
When their dishes arrived, Yi Zan and Yuan Fen greedily savoured the food in front of them, not caring about the astonished looks from the people around. They devoured the food with a voracious appetite, giving off an impression of stubbornness that belied their cuteness. Not long after, graceful steps could be heard approaching.
The steps sounded like music, each step carefully calculated to give the impression of authority. Yi Zan glanced boredly at the steps of the 2nd floor, feeling that the steps were too contrived, like an opera dancer on a folk stage. Meanwhile, Yuan Fen innocently turned her face away, showing her curiosity.
From the direction of the stairs leading to the 2nd floor, there appeared a handsome young man wearing a flashy outfit. About 17 years old, his face was as clean and white as alabaster. His tall and slim body was matched with the latest models from expensive fashion stores. He wore a pastel green, large-sleeved, latest-fangled dress, covered by a dazzling emerald green robe. A discerning eye could guess that the young man's clothes were made of expensive silk from the Aryan Region in the West.
The young man's shoes were made of soft dark beast leather and adorned with exquisite carvings. His hair was neatly tied up using fragrant sandalwood oil, forming a small bun adorned with a silk ribbon. Her appearance seemed to give the impression that she was a descendant of nobility or the child of a wealthy tycoon.
A man who was with the young man, probably a bodyguard, approached Yuan Fen and Yi Zan's seats. Yi Zan looked bored, looking at the scenery on the street, while Yuan Fen was friendly towards the bodyguard man.
"Two little brothers... these are the seats that our master, Young Master Ruan Ceng, wants us to sit in. Choose another seat, and I will compensate you for this one," said the man.
Just as Yuan Fen was about to reply and give the new visitors a chance to take their seats, a stern and fierce voice was heard.
"There will be many chairs and tables on the second floor. Please choose an empty one. This table is still occupied and we will continue ordering food," Yi Zan interjected, glancing briefly at the young man and then turning his face away in a nonchalant manner.
"Little girl, don't overreact. Do you know who Young Master Ruan Ceng is?" the man with the youth responded, holding back his temper.
"And you know who I am? I'm Yi Fentin, and I won't let anyone bully us just because we're two little kids," Yi Zan replied firmly.
"Go and find somewhere else. I don't like excessive talk," Yi Zan shot the man a glare.
"Little boy, let me teach you a lesson," the man prepared to scare them with a punch move.
With a sly smile, Yi Zan quickly took out something from his spatial ring. "This is a small reward from me for your lackadaisical behaviour," Yi Zan said as he threw an explosive talisman at the man.
DUAR!
A huge explosion sounded on the 2nd floor of the Noble Dish Restaurant. The bouncer man who came with Young Master Ruan Ceng was thrown 5 metres away, trying to get up with his clothes in tatters and hair standing up. His body was full of charcoal black scratches, making him look like he was half naked. Embarrassment was clearly depicted on his face, while the people on the 2nd floor watched the incident in astonishment.
"This is just a low-grade talisman I gave you. If you still cause trouble, I won't hesitate to give you a gift that can make half of your body scorched. At that time, you will cry and ask others to kill you, in order to be free from the pain of the lightning I gave you," Yi Zan said indifferently, his voice sounding loud.
The 2nd floor Noble Cuisine Restaurant became silent. Some people were in awe of Yi Zan, while others found him cruel. There were also those who felt pity looking at the man who seemed to be about to cry for having disturbed the two small children who were enjoying lunch.
Amongst the crowd, there were those who initially had malicious intentions, planning to rob them. However, after seeing Yi Zan extravagantly spending 10 energy stones on some dishes, they were grateful.
As it turned out, Yi Zan was using a talisman. The demon girl was probably a talisman master or at least a wealthy person who easily wasted talismans just to chase away the bouncer. Many were secretly horrified, so they decided to look the other way and loot the two children's treasures. How did the two children behave next?

Three Days in Oak Forest
Oak Forest quickly erased the distinction between renowned young cultivators and ordinary wounded travelers struggling through difficult terrain.Broad trunks restricted sightlines, exposed roots crossed uneven ground, and dense sections of foliage made every unfamiliar movement difficult to identify from a distance. Those injured during the fall faced the greatest disadvantage, because sealed cultivation prevented them from using qi to stabilize broken bones or ignore physical exhaustion.A young man with a damaged leg dragged himself toward shelter while another contestant passed without offering help, preserving strength for a trial with only five winners. The first day remained the loudest, filled with distant arguments, sudden clashes, warnings, and occasional cries that traveled between trees before fading.Contestants who had once trusted reputation now understood that tit
Bound for Oak Forest
Night had fully covered Torredorm when the chained prisoners left the Royal Palace under escort from armed soldiers assigned to the Spirit Ship.Metal links scraped across stone as the young men and women moved through the palace grounds, because restraints at wrists and ankles shortened every stride.Whenever one captive stumbled, the sudden pull traveled through the chain and forced several others to adjust before the entire line lost balance. The soldiers maintained formation around them without allowing unnecessary gaps, since magical suppression had reduced the prisoners’ strength but had not removed every possibility of desperation.Beyond the palace walls, civilians had learned enough about the transfer to gather wherever distant glimpses of the departure route remained visible.Parents called for sons and daughters they could barely distinguish among the moving shad

Movement behind the rear screens drew every captive’s attention, although the soldiers surrounding the hall prevented anyone from rising or shifting closer for a better view.Xanthanael remained seated while uncertainty spread among the kneeling youths, allowing their imagination to work before he revealed what would determine the coming selection. He brought his hands together three times at an unhurried pace, and the clear claps carried across the hall without requiring any additional command.Five female servants entered from the rear passage in orderly formation, each carrying a polished tray covered by folded red satin.Their clothing was appropriate for palace service rather than display, and their careful movements showed that whatever rested beneath the cloth carried unusual importance. The first servant stopped beneath the platform, while the remaining four aligned
Under Xanthanael’s Rule
Three months before the present course of events, evening settled over the Royal Palace in Torredorm while willow branches moved under a cold wind that crossed the outer courtyards and disturbed the long shadows beneath the palace walls. The guards stationed along the terraces and covered approaches stood at attention with weapons held in disciplined silence, because the atmosphere around Vellenor’s royal residence had grown heavier since Xanthanael seized control of the kingdom. His rise had not ended with Vellenor, because the new ruler expanded his authority beyond the borders and eventually crushed Udristan after destroying its former king during the conquest.Talented youths taken from the conquered territory were transported to Torredorm, where they were added to promising young cultivators and gifted fighters already gathered from within Vellenor.Xanthanael did not see these young people as future officials, disciples, or loyal nobles, because his interest centered on creating
The Eastern Guard Rebuilt
Zheng Cheng’s entry into Guo Jiang’s service solved one personal matter, but it also exposed how badly the Eastern Mansion’s defenses had been weakened.Several senior guards had fallen during Guo Jiang’s arrival, while others remained injured enough that the old structure could no longer function normally.Guo Jiang summoned Zheng Cheng after his injuries improved enough for him to move without favoring the wounded hand.Tong and Bo joined the meeting because both men understood the existing guard system and the practical weaknesses left by recent deaths.Guo Jiang looked across the three men and said, “The mansion cannot depend on my personal presence whenever trouble reaches the gate.”Bo agreed immediately, while Tong added that rebuilding too quickly could be as dangerous as leaving vacancies unfilled.“A weak ma
Not a Slave
By the time Zheng Cheng entered the audience chamber, dry clothes had replaced his soaked black robe, but the storm still showed in his condition. His face remained pale from the cold, and exhaustion had left a faint tremor in the hand resting beside his knee.Guo Jiang received him in a smaller hall rather than the formal reception chamber used for clans and sect representatives.A brazier burned near the side wall, and warm air gradually returned some color to the swordsman’s face while he waited.Guo Jiang studied him for several breaths before asking why a defeated challenger had chosen to spend the entire storm outside his gate.“The servant reported that you spoke about a vow, but I prefer hearing the meaning from the man who made it.”Zheng Cheng straightened despite his fatigue and placed both hands before him in a formal salute.“Two years ago, when I left my home and began wandering through the martial world, I made a promise concerning every serious challenge.”He explained
