Oliver's eyes widened in terror as he watched the claws heading towards his chest. When the claws was only centimeters away from his chest, Oliver moved his body to the side, weaving the slash by a hair length. After dodging the slash, Oliver stretched his right leg forward and sent out a kick towards Dan's stomach.
PAH!
Dan lifted his left arm, blocking the kick easily and sent out a punch of his own.
"It's time I see what this Sprint Talent really means." Oliver pondered internally. "Activate Sprint!" He called out internally.
[SPRINT HAS BEEN ACTIVATED]
Activating the skill, Oliver felt his whole body become light as a feather, and the breeze in the cafeteria felt like it could blow him off. Even the fist heading towards his head seemed to have decreased drastically in pace and was now moving as slow as a tortoise.
Reacting swiftly, Oliver moved to the side and dashed towards Dann who was still moving like a snail, and he sent out a punch of his own towards Dan's right cheek. Dan's eyes widened in shock after watching Oliver weave his punch at an incredible speed and also sent out a punch that was too fast for him to react.
Oliver's fist collided with Dan's right cheek, and the sound of teeth breaking reverberated throughout the cafeteria as Dan was sent sliding across the cafeteria floor, until his body finally hit the wall and he passed out.
The whole crowd's eyes widened in shock after witnessing the impossible scene that just played out right in front of them. The boy they all deemed as trash knocking out two high ranked Talent users without breaking a sweat.
Oliver stood there proudly before shifting his gaze towards Christopher who still sat there with a look of disbelief etched on his face. Christopher rose from where he sat and stepped forward.
"I see you've grown wings, eh?" Christopher blurted out as he walked forward with his face bright red in anger. "You dare lay your fingers on my friends? You are going to die!" Christopher spat as he stretched his right hand to the side, repelling a metallic chair towards his side and sent it towards Oliver, using his telekinesis ability.
The chair traveled through the air at a tremendous speed as it headed towards Oliver. Before the chair cold get close, Oliver leaped into the air and delivered a kick towards the incoming chair and knocked it down to the floor.
Oliver landed back on the ground, and before he could catch his breath he caught sight of three more chairs heading towards him. This time he charged towards the incoming chairs, and when they were only centimeters away from him, he clenched his right fist tightly and punched it out towards the incoming chairs.
BAM!
His fist slammed heavily onto the chairs, and the force behind the punch sent the chairs back to the sender. Christopher's eyes widened in shock as he saw his own attack being sent back to him, and in the last second he was able to slow down the pace with his Talent and sent it back to Oliver.
Oliver repeated his actions and punched the chairs back, Christopher also did the same and sent it back. The chairs kept going back and forth, and anyone who just stepped into the cafeteria would think they are playing a tennis match.
"Enough of this crap." Oliver said internally as he clenched his fist tightly, and his bones could be seen popping out with so much hatred. He then punched it forward and it struck the chairs really heard, causing it to fly back towards Christopher in a pace that was times two faster than the previous one.
Christopher who didn't expect expect such a speed, had no time to dodge. The chairs crashed against him and sent him flying backwards until his back hit the wall and he fell.
Christopher swiftly got back on his feet and regained composure instantly.
"What's with this trash? Where did he suddenly get so much power?" Christopher pondered internally in disbelief as he had his gaze fixed on Oliver. "Isn't he the same trash? Why does he give me chills?"
Christopher stood there in contemplation before leaning down beside Dan and touched his body. He also touched the body of Ken and rose back up.
"I don't know how you are able to do what you are doing right now, but all I know is that your little luck has run out, and now it's time for you to pay!." Christopher voiced out before shifting his gaze towards his two friends that laid down unconscious before charging in once more.
Oliver swiftly got in a fighting stance as he watched Christopher charge towards him in a fast pace, and in less than a second he arrived in striking distance and punched out his clenched fists together.
Oliver watched the fists heading towards him at insane speed, and in the last second he ducked low, dodging the punches by a hair length. Before Oliver could regain composure, Christopher, sent out a kick towards Oliver's chest.
Oliver who hadn't expected the kick, had no time to block. The kick connected neatly to his chest and sent him flying backwards and rolling on the floor.
"Aahhhh!!!" Christopher made a battle cry as he began to dash towards Oliver would still struggled to stand on the edge of the rooftop, and his only goal was to kick him off completely. Christopher arrived in striking distance and he raised his right leg and sent out a kick towards Oliver's head.
Oliver split his legs and and went low, dodging the kick completely. Before Christopher could retrieve his outstretched leg, Oliver stretched his right leg forward and kicked Christopher's last leg, making him lose balance and began to stumble.
Christopher stumbled for a few seconds, and when he was about to regain balance, Oliver struck him with a round house kick that connected neatly with his head and made him lose balance once more and fell.
In a blink of an eye, he regained composure.
"You really think you can take me out just like that?" Christopher questioned with a huge grin on his face.
"How?" Oliver questioned with a slight look of confusion.
"If i told you my secret technique it won't be such a big secret anymore would it?" Christopher spoke up with a smirk. It seemed like Christopher was the mouth of the whole brothers since he has been the one doing the talking this whole time while the remaining two just remain mute.
"You guys have made me pass through hell day in and day out. That ends today!!" Oliver muttered as he got in a fighting stance, gesturing to the group to come at him.

Chapter 173
The stormfront broke over the coast of Meridia just before dawn, draping the sky in a bruise colored shroud. Thunder rolled like ancient drums. And from the sea, they came. The Listeners. They rowed in perfect silence, their ships gliding across still water as if carried by thought alone. Dozens of them. Then hundreds. Bonewood oars dipped in tandem, creating no sound. Their faces were hidden beneath curved helms of stone, carved with open ears where mouths should have been. Blank, unblinking, unfeeling. The Tower had summoned its audience, and the world would never be the same. From a high perch on the cliffs above the beach, Mina crouched in silence. Her cloak, soaked with sea mist and rain, clung to her form like ivy. Behind her, Oliver stood, pale and shaking, still recovering from the strain of the Tower’s unraveling.“They're not human,” he whispered.“No,” Mina said. “They're not.”They watched the first boats touch sand. The Listeners didn’t speak. Didn’t gesture. Didn’t eve
Chapter 172
The sea hissed where the water met the obsidian roots of the new tower. Fog curled around its rising walls, woven with the scent of brine, ozone, and old death. From the cliffs of Orell’s Watch, one could see it looming—taller now than any lighthouse, its spiral frame stretching into the storm-choked sky.And it was still growing. Ships had turned away. Villages had gone silent. The tower gave off no light, no heat. But it sang.Low and endless. A note that vibrated in the bone more than the ear. A warning and a welcome, both at once, and in the frozen spray of dawn, Oliver watched it rise. The skiff he'd borrowed creaked as it struck the shallows. A storm rolled on the horizon, angry and gray, but Oliver didn’t flinch. His boots touched sand that hadn't seen sunlight in eons, and still he walked forward. Every part of him told him to run.His blood screamed. His heart thumped in erratic, arrhythmic pulses—sometimes syncing with the tower’s humming, sometimes not. Each misstep made

Snow no longer fell on Highbarrow. It hung suspended in the air each flake caught in some strange stasis, like time itself hesitated around Oliver. He sat at the edge of the broken parapet, legs dangling over frostbitten stone, silver eyes tracking distant clouds. He hadn’t spoken in hours. Since the battle beneath the Whispering Deep, something in him had… shifted. He didn’t sleep. He didn’t blink as often. And when he breathed, the world seemed to breathe with him.Mina stood a few paces back, her arms crossed, watching.“How long’s he been like this?” Elias asked, approaching with a flask of steaming broth.“Since the throne,” she said. “He’s hearing things.”“Voices. Songs.” Elias frowned. “He’s not possessed. I checked.”Mina looked back at Oliver. “Then what is he?”Elias didn’t answer. He wasn’t sure anyone could.Later that day, in the central chamber of the old stronghold, Elias scraped the last of the golden dust from the shattered shard that had once powered the titan. He h
Chapter 170
Winter broke late that year. Snow, long absent from the southern ridges of Meridia, swept in on the second morning after the fall of Ascendancy One. Fine flakes drifted down through scorched branches, dressing the charred bones of the forest ridge in a shroud of white. The world looked peaceful again. But it was only an illusion.Beneath the ash, blood still steamed, and in Highbarrow’s war tent, the truth was heavier than frost.“Ascendancy Two?” Elias muttered, his breath fogging in the chill air. “Gods help us, we barely brought down the first.”He sat hunched over a half burned map, eyes red from lack of sleep. Glyphs danced at the edges of his parchment sigils he’d drawn to stabilize the torn magical field the Conductor had left behind. The pulse from the console hadn’t stopped. It had simply gone… deeper.“She called it a symphony,” Oliver said, pacing across the stone floor. “Not an army. Not a cult. A symphony.”“Which means someone else is playing now,” Mina added grimly.Th
Chapter 169
The red sky broke at dawn like the shattering of stained glass. From the battlements of Highbarrow, Oliver watched as streaks of fire painted the horizon. Pillars of smoke rose beyond the tree line wide and deliberate. Not the careless destruction of bandits or rogue beasts. These fires were signals. Tactics. A message. The enemy was coming, and they had already begun to burn the land.“They’re pushing from the east,” Elias said, his fingers wrapped tightly around a spyglass. “Fifteen hundred strong, maybe more. No banners. No horns. Just… silence.”“Mercenaries?” Mina asked from where she stood, arm still bound in slingcloth.Elias shook his head grimly. “Worse. Disciplined. Uniform. But not Imperial.”Oliver narrowed his eyes. “Then who?”“Ghosts,” muttered General Berra. She was a hawk faced woman in steel plated armor, her grey braid twisted like a rope. “Those aren’t soldiers. They’re revenants. Risen or reprogrammed. I’ve seen it before once, in the southern barrens. Kaelien
