“I thought you said only fodder remained, you fool!” Nelson exclaimed as he ran alongside the others.

They were currently being chased by an Awakened Grade 7 Asphalt Golem, a humanoid Golem made of an asphalt like substance.

They had left their broken building shelter and were heading towards Amy's dojo when they suddenly came across it.

“Yeah! That thing is fodder compared to the rest of those monsters that descended from the sky crack.” Eric replied as he ran and huffed.

[Fatigue: 46%]

‘Dammit. Why didn't analysis pick it up tho.’

He was looking at his screen to figure out what happened.

‘Ah! The message was minimised?! It never left like the others.’

All other analysis alerts had disappeared but that of the golem still remained, minimised.

“Yeah, I can't keep running.” Erica said and stopped to look at the golem that was coming after them.

Looking at the thing, it was sufficiently big. At least as big as truck and as tall as a bungalow. Each step it took sent waves and tremors through the ground as it got closer.

“Oi oi. Even I don't need intelligence to tell me that that thing is way out of our league.” Chuck stopped and said, pulling on Erica's arm.

“There's five of us currently. We can beat it, it's just a grade above us.” Erica replied as she panted softly.

“We're not in tip top condition so we can't say how much luck we're gonna get in beating it. Plus, it's defense is top tier. Golem's sacrifice speed for high defense.” Eric replied as he also looked at the incoming golem.

“That thing is like sixty meters away from us, if we run, we can still lose it. I mean, look at the way it's running right now.” Matt said pointing at the golem.

The golem was trying everything in its power to reach them, running wildly and directinh killing intent towards them.

“I mean, if not for the fact that it's directing killing intent towards us, I would have said that thing wasn't even taking us seriously.” Matt continued as he was preparing to run off again.

“Sharp and pointy things won't do much damage huh?” Nelson muttered to himself,. stroking his chin.

He brought out his dagger from his inventory and checked the stats;

[__Equipped Item__]

[Item Name: Dagger of the Demonic Sun]

[Type: Weapon]

[Item Description: Forged from the blood clot of the Demonic Sun itself, this blade bears the wrath of the demonic deity even if it's a mild amount.]

[Class: Rare]

[Grade: 8]

[Attack Damage: 90]

[Critical Damage: 125(0.9% chance)]

[Durability: 1493/1500]

[Enchantments: Immolating Edge; Kinetic Thrust; Demonic Solar Arc; Heat Resistance (When equipped)]

‘Immolating Edge?’

He thought. He hadn't really seen what this enchantments were for really.

[Enchantment: Immolating Edge]

[Enchantment Type: Passive & Active]

[Enchantment Description: The edge of the blade is naturally hot and cuts through things with ease. When imbued with mana, the temperature of the edge reaches daring heights cutting through any adversary with relative ease. Immolating damage depends on the amount of mana imbued.]

‘Heat… Asphalt… I'm a grade 8 with a rare grade 8 weapon against a grade 7…’

“Hey Eric, Rare item class is equivalent to Awakened beast class right?” Nelson asked, looking at the golem inching towards them by the second.

It was now about thirty meters away from them, grunting as it ran slowly.

“Let's try our luck. Eric, here.” Nelson said handing over the dagger to Eric.

“You have more mana points than all of us here. So use its enchantment. I'm not giving it out to you, I'm lending it out to you. I'll collect it as soon as we're done.” He added as he pounded his fists together.

“What're you gonna do? Pound it with your fists?” Eric asked incredulously as he collected the blade.

“Yes.” Nelson said with the cockiest smirk on his face.

[Skill ‘Blazing Fists’ is active!]

[Blazing Fists: When in a fight and user utilizes his fist alone, he gets a boost in strength, speed and damage.]

[+25% Attack Damage; +4 strength; +2 speed; +25% damage to armoured opponents.]

‘Jesus! That's like +50% attack on the golem.’

A reddish orange aura covered Nelson's arms as he got into a boxer's stance.

Everyone got in position and was ready to face a monster a grade above them all.

Twenty meters and reducing…

‘Use Skill:Analysis.’

Eric gave the system a mental command and his eyes took on a soft blue glow.

[Skill, ‘Analysis’ have been activated]

[[Monster Information]]

[Name: Asphalt Golem]

[Race: Monster]

[Class: Awakened]

[Status: Alive]

[Grade: 7]

[HP: 350/350]

[Further Information requires more analysis.]

[Time to complete said analysis: 6 hours 30minutes.]

Eric looked at the last message with scorn and disgust.

‘No, what the hell!’

He clutched the dagger firmly and took a stance as well.

Ten meters and still reducing…

Nelson charged forward with insane speed, the aura around his arms blazing brightly. As he advanced, he covered his fists with scorching hot flames.

‘Ain't no blazing fists if there ain't no flames.’

Soon he was upon the golem, his friends behind him.

The golem roared and brought down one of its arms on its target, one that was easily dodged by Nelson.

As soon as the hand connected with the ground, a thick layer of frost covered the hand and cemented it with the ground slowing it down.

Nelson ran up the arm with his enhanced speed till he got to its shoulder.

POWWW!

Nelson fists connected with the golem's temple, jerking it to the side.

[-20 HP of Asphalt Golem]

‘Ah, this skill… it's OP!’

Nelson thought as he jumped off of the shoulder unto a destroyed vehicle nearby.

The golem freed its trapped hand only for another blast of frost to cover its entire head in ice.

Eric ran past the golem and went behind it, slashing the mana imbued dagger at the back of its knee.

[MP: 150/210]

[-5 HP of Asphalt Golem]

[Golem's HP: 325/350]

The blade went through it like knife through flesh, creating a orange glowing wound.

The golem stumbled and went down on its knees as it tried to break the frost on its face.

POWWW!

Another blow landed on the shoulder of the golem, nearly shattering the entire thing as nets of cracks ran all over its armoured body.

Several small rockets flew towards the disoriented monster and exploded on contact with it.

[-45 HP of Asphalt Golem]

Matt was holding a compound rocket launcher capable of shooting nine small rockets at once.

A wave of black wind blew towards the golem and covered it.

[Wind Of Death has been used in target. -2 HP every second for one minute.]

“Way to go fatso, let's keep it coming guys.” Nelson praised as he moved in again and delivered another -20 HP punch on its head.

Eric appeared above the golem and aimed to thrust the dagger into one of its crimson eyes. A blue aura covered him taking the shape of a hippo's head.

It worked well apparently, a little too well.

[Critical Damage done. -45 HP of Asphalt Golem]

[Golem's HP: 135/350]

“I'm not done! Kinetic Thrust!” Eric yelled using one of the dagger's active enchantments.

[Critical Damage done. -45 HP of Asphalt Golem]

[Golem's HP: 90/350]

Eric jumped off and another flurry of rockets hit the golem again taking away 45 of its health.

[Golem's HP: 45/350]

The golem was been overwhelmed with little breathing space.

Nelson came in again and smashed his fist into the jaw of the monster, taking another 20 HP from the monster.

Eric swung the dagger, creating an arc of blazing heat and enhanced it with his own mana causing a wide magma hot gash on the creature's torso. That took 15 HP away from the monster.

They all gave way for a giant lump of thick ice, big enough to flatten a truck, as it barreled down on the golem.

[-10 HP of Asphalt Golem.]

[Analysis: Erica Jason has killed the Asphalt Golem.]

‘We won!’ Eric almost yelped as he panted.

They had slain the monster with team effort and critical thinking.

[Analysis: An Awakened Grade 8, Orge Brute, has found your location. Be advised!]

‘Eh?’

  • Chapter 95: Insidious Hunters

Matt, after dumping frag grenades into the forest haphazardly, proceeded to conjure several clones of himself and clad them all in a protective and flexible armour. Each clone wielded a futuristic rifle and they all numbered up to seven excluding the main body. One of the rewards he received from the system after the rift expedition was a Trait evolution from Armament Creation to Digital Constructs. This not only allowed him to conjure up otherworldly futuristic weapons but also digital clones, armours, shields and basically anything else. He's limited by his own imagination and mana reserves. The best thing about it was that mana wasn't expended to maintain his constructs. He only consumed mana when creating or fixing his constructs as the very existence of those constructs were free of charge. If he happened to dismiss any of his construct or if they happen to be destroyed, he will receive half or a quarter of the mana used to conjure that construct respectively. “I'm going to ne

  • Chapter 94: Let The Games Begin

The following day came very fast and they were all gathered at the mouth of the cave, all around Eric. “Let's not forget that there will be opportunities for duels and gangbangs in this event so it'll test your prowess and how well you know how to use your abilities. Afterall, everyone here is a pinnacle entity of the Awakened class.” Eric started addressing his people. “I'm counting on that duel of a thing. ‘Tis one of the reasons I'm doing this in the first place.” Nelson said with a smirk. “Of course it is.” Chuck mumbled under his breath with a somewhat exasperated expression. “Oh don't worry, Chuck. You're not my prime prey, you're just the subsidiary prey.” Nelson said, comforting him. “Doesn't matter, Eric warned us not to underestimate anyone though. I pray you underestimate me, Nelson.” Chuck said as his face adopted a soft yet grim smile. “You'd be in for a surprise too.” After he said this, he chuckled darkly for a few moments, garnering several looks from the te

  • Chapter 93: Preparations

“Is that supposed to even be possible? It hasn't even been a week.” Matt said with utter surprise. “Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you, sincerely.” He quickly added and smiled. “So which one did you get?” “How about we let it be a surprise for you all. We haven't really consolidated our abilities ever since we were chased into the rift by that monster.” Eric stated with a soft smile and a raised finger. Everyone looked at Eric with suspicion and Nelson shook his head and sighed. “What do you have in mind, fodder?” He asked his friend. “I thought you said you wouldn't call him fodder again.” Chuck glanced at Nelson with a raised eyebrow. Nelson shot him a mean look causing Chuck to withdraw his gaze with a wry smile. “I propose that we have a free for all match, an all out duel with each other or some kind of capture the flag game with our powers being used.” Eric answered him with a smile. “What do you think? It's a way to let loose before something serious occurs again.” “I

  • Chapter 92: Right on Bermuda

“How's the hunt?” Erica asked the remaining members of the cohort that just arrived into the cave. “Futile. There are almost no animals or game in these woods.” Matt responded with frustration as he dismissed his shotgun construct, causing it to dissipate in a digital glitch-like manner. “Yeah, the forest was quite peaceful asides the occasional chirping of crickets and you know, normal forest ambiance.” Chuck added succinctly as he sat on a small rock and heaved a breath of relief. Chuck and Matt had gone out to search for food for the rest of the cohort while Maric and Mr. Baker went out to confirm where they were. “Nothing like I've seen before Eric.” Mr. Baker shook his head and sat down as he began recounting his scouting experience alongside Maric. Apparently they had gotten to land after the glacier and ocean current brought them here. And they got to this place on a misty night at the edge of a rocky cliff. “The forest on this part is quite normal, if I do say so myself.

  • Chapter 91: Exclusiveness

About two weeks had passed since the whole chaos of bounties ensued and the people now knew the consequences of their actions. The rewards of the bounties were automatically deducted from the one issuing the bounty, regardless of whether they had money or not. This has left many to be destitute in system currency and even many casually hunted. If one didn't know how to change appearance or hide from skills like Analysis and the likes, the hunted would not live a safe life. Following this development, as well, was the creation of several factions dedicated to bounty hunting and they have more or less ‘culled’ the useless bounties and claimed rewards for themselves, leaving the truly dangerous ones. Eric and co had finally reached land and it was a forest of some sorts, not too dense and not too sparse. They were currently residing in a cave, unsure of the next move they'll make. Amy and Nelson, especially Amy, were despondent about the fact that they lost something valuable that day

  • Chapter 90: Let The Chaos Reign

Everyone was adrift above a massive glacier, despondent and drained of all emotions and strength. There was an active ocean current propelling the glacier towards an unknown direction. Amy was still asleep and Nelson’s condition had stabilised due to his self-regeneration but it was still far from optimal. “What do we do now?” Chuck asked with a serious tone, seeing that Eric was just staring at the horizon where Jasmine and the man left for about six hours. “Cut it out, Necromancer. Let him process his thoughts and talk at his own leisure.” Matt refuted Chuck and shook his head. ‘He’s probably regretting keeping that girl alive back then.’ Matt mused internally before shaking his head. Countless moments of silence passed and Eric finally stirred, clenching his fists. The first light of day was just appearing from the horizon, painting it with a tint of surreal orange hues. Erica stood up from her spot on the glacier and walked towards her brother in hopes to get through to him.
