Without hesitation, Magnus stepped down from the porch, closing the distance to the menacing men.

The men quickened their pace, banging their long iron pipes against the ground while making intimidating noises.

Perhaps they meant to intimidate Magnus, but it was useless. Magnus suddenly sprinted toward them, straight at the bald one.

“Hiiiyahhh!!!”

The bald man raised his long iron pipe high and swung it at Magnus. But Magnus quickly dodged, then grabbed the bald man's right arm and broke it.

CRACK!

“Arrghhh!!!”

The sound of the bone snapping was clearly audible, making the others gasp. The iron pipe in the bald man’s hand dropped. Magnus forced him to his knees, his head bowed.

At this point, Magnus’s eyes were blazing blue. And he knew who these people were.

Initially, he thought they were Julius's hired thugs. Turns out, these men were police officers. They had come on the orders of the Merseyvale police chief, Frank.

Magnus shook his head, saying, “Is this what the police in this city do—entering private property without a warrant and ganging up on unarmed civilians? How pathetic!”

CRACK!

“Aarrgghhh!!!”

Magnus broke the bald man's right arm once again. The bald man collapsed face-down on the ground. Motionless.

The other plainclothes officers were now sweating cold, especially since they saw electricity flowing across Magnus’s body. Without being asked, they began dropping the long iron pipes they held. They then raised their hands, backing away slowly.

“W-we were just following order,” one of them stammered.

Magnus glared at him, and the officer tripped over his own feet. In this moment, the police realized they should never have carried out Frank's strange command.

“I’ll let you go, but you can’t let anyone know about what I just did,” Magnus said, sweeping his gaze over the officers. “And if you try something this stupid again, you better be ready to end up like this bald guy.”

The pressure these officers felt was too much, too overwhelming for them to handle. Without a fight, they all nodded.

“Now, get away. Leave before I change my mind!” Magnus said firmly.

At that moment, the officers rushed out of the yard. Four of them carried the bald man away.

Meanwhile, not far from there, in a black sedan, Frank was waiting for news from the two dozen men he had sent to beat up Magnus. He was accompanied by his aide, who sat in the driver's seat. Their gaze was fixed straight ahead.

“How long has it been since they moved?” Frank asked.

“About fifteen minutes, sir,” his aide replied.

“Why haven’t they reported back? Do you think something happened to them?”

“I don’t think so, sir. Their opponent is only one man. I don't think they'll have the slightest trouble. Maybe they're enjoying what they're doing right now—taking turns torturing that guy.”

“Hmm...”

“There’s nothing to worry about, sir. The unit you sent is one of the best we have. Even if that guy can fight back, he’s definitely outmatched.”

Frank sighed. For some reason, he felt uneasy. The task for the two dozen plainclothes officers was to beat Magnus bloody and then bring him before him. He himself would finish Magnus off later—of course, after showering him with insults and curses.

Frank pulled out his phone, replaying the surveillance footage from Apple & Poison. This was the umpteenth time he had done it. The footage showed a muscular, long-haired man beating Julius’s friends as if they were utterly weak.

Initially, Frank wasn't entirely sure the muscular man was Magnus. But after adjusting the camera angle and enhancing the image resolution, he couldn’t deny it anymore—it was definitely Magnus.

The question then was why Magnus had suddenly reappeared after three years? Was the news of Magnus's death three years ago, which Julius had relayed to him, just a fake story?

Frank slipped his phone back into his pocket. At Apple & Poison, Magnus did easily beat Julius's friends, but they were only three, and they were regular thugs. The twenty-something plainclothes officers he sent to Magnus's family home were on a different level. They should have overwhelmed Magnus.

At that moment, a car appeared from the front. The car's high beams were on, forcing Frank to raise a hand to shield his eyes.

“What the hell!” Frank cursed.

He was just about to honk when he realized that the car in front was the yellow sports car he had seen in the Apple & Poison parking lot surveillance. And as the car got closer, Frank clearly saw: Magnus was sitting in the driver’s seat.

“What the fuck!”

Frank opened the door and got out. He hadn't seen wrong. The man in the driver's seat was indeed Magnus.

“Sir?”

Frank’s aide also got out of the car, looking at him questioningly. His eyes widened when he looked ahead and realized what was unsettling Frank.

The yellow sports car stopped. One of the front doors opened, and Magnus stepped out.

“Long time no see, Uncle Frank,” Magnus said, raising his chin slightly with a mocking smile.

Frank sneered. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, but the man in front of him was none other than Magnus.

“If you’re wondering why I’m here,” Magnus said, closing the car door and stepping forward confidently, “the answer is because the plainclothes police you sent failed to do the job you gave them. They were too weak.”

Frank sneered again. Three years ago, he had joined in mocking and insulting Magnus when Magnus worked as a housekeeper at the Barbosa residence’s main home for a few days. Back then, Magnus didn’t resist at all, only kept his head down. Now he dared to challenge him as if his position as the Police Chief of Merseyvale meant nothing in his eyes.

“Stop right there!!”

Frank’s aide pulled out his pistol and aimed it at Magnus.

Did Magnus comply? No. He kept walking forward. Frank’s aide grew furious.

“Sir, please give me permission to shoot this bastard.”

Frank’s eyes were still locked on Magnus. Magnus kept walking forward, without hesitation.

“Shoot him, but aim for his legs,” Frank ordered.

“Copy that!” his aide replied, and he fired a shot.

Bang!

Whoosh!

Frank and his aide were shocked. Magnus suddenly vanished, disappearing right in front of them. And then suddenly...

Thud!

“Ah...”

Frank’s aide collapsed, falling face-down and motionless. Frank turned to his right and instinctively took two steps back. Magnus was standing there, looking at his aide with a cold face.

“Now it’s just you and me,” Magnus said coldly, slowly turning his body to face Frank.

Frank quickly pulled out his own pistol and aimed it at Magnus, right at his head.

“Move one inch and I’ll blow your head off!”

  • We're Ready

Krystal Lim didn't answer immediately. She allowed Magnus and Felix to approach before finally speaking."Nothing," she said simply. "I’m just trying to make him work for us in our special mission."Magnus narrowed his eyes, studying the silver-haired captive. The man’s face was rigid, his gaze filled with a hollow, burning vengeance."You’ve actually brainwashed him?" Magnus asked."Something like that," Krystal replied. "He’s our weapon now. • A Fatal Blunder

That night, Magnus and his siblings celebrated their mother’s birthday. The atmosphere was vibrant—a rare moment of warmth for a family that had spent years in the cold. It was clear they hadn't felt this sense of togetherness in a very long time. After the celebration wound down, Magnus retreated to his room. He lay on his bed for a while, scrolling through his phone, before wandering out onto the balcony. Sleep was far off. He decided to call Krystal Lim.She picked up on the fourth ring. When Magnus asked where she was and what she was doing, she let out a soft chuckle.[You’re funny, Magnus. You’re asking me that as if we’re actually dating.]Magnus smirked, his eyes tracking the city lights. “Aren’t we? After everything that happened last night—and this morning—I thought it was only natural to assume we were.”A playful glint flickered in his eyes. • Felix's Support Confirmed

Jonas did a double-take, giving Magnus a bewildered look. "You’re coming to my school? Tomorrow?"Magnus nodded firmly. "It’s time to teach them a lesson. They need to understand that what they’ve been doing is wrong."Jonas looked hesitant. "What exactly... are you going to do to them? You’re not planning on beating them up like those other thugs, are you? Remember, they’re just high school kids."Magnus let out a sarcastic smirk. "They might be high school age, but their actions are inexcusable. There has to be a reckoning. From what you’ve told me, the school—whether it’s the teachers or the principal—hasn't lifted a finger to help you. If they won’t do their jobs, I have to step in. But relax. I know where the line is. I’m not going to treat them like the mobsters I dealt with earlier."Magnus had made his intentions clear, but Jonas still looked uneasy. He was clearly weighing the social fallout of what might happen once Magnus "disciplined" the gang."Drop it for now. We’ll talk
