The room stayed silent for a long moment. Every pair of eyes was fixed on the flash drive lying in the middle of the polished table. Finally, Robert, cleared his throat.

"If what he says is true," Lewis muttered, adjusting his glasses, "then we should at least verify it. We can’t risk making decisions based on rumors."

Richard narrowed his eyes but snatched the flash drive from the table. He passed it to the company’s IT head, a quiet man who had been sitting at the far end of the boardroom with his laptop. "Check it," Richard ordered coldly.

The IT head plugged the flash drive in, his fingers moving quickly across the keyboard. The screen projected onto the wall lit up with the images everyone had already seen online—the pictures of Karvel with another woman, her face close to his, their bodies angled as if caught in an intimate moment. Gasps echoed around the room.

"See?" Richard said sharply. "This is the disgrace we’re talking about—"

"Wait," the IT head interrupted, his voice cal

The next morning, the sun filtered through the tall glass windows.Grandpa Jackson sat in his high-backed chair, dressed sharply in a dark suit, his cane resting at his side. When Karvel walked in, his grandfather’s stern expression softened into a rare, happy smile."Finally," Grandpa Jackson said, his voice filled with pride. "I’ve waited for this day a long time. Today, I will announce you to the public as my heir." His eyes gleamed with both relief and excitement before narrowing slightly. "Morrison mentioned that you don’t want the media to showcase your pictures yet. Is that true?"Karvel nodded once, his posture straight, his expression steady. "Yes, that’s correct. For now, I want to control the moment. Let them write about me, let them speculate, but I will release my photographs myself—next week."Grandpa Jackson studied him carefully, tapping the tip of his cane against the polished floor. Then he chuckled, nodding in agreement. "I see. You want to make your own entrance, j

"I think I’ll head back to the house now," Karvel said, his voice quieter than usual as he set his glass down on the polished table. The night’s laughter and music were still swirling around him, but his mind was already shifting back to responsibilities, to the weight of tomorrow.Morrison leaned forward, resting an arm on the edge of the booth. "Alright, I’ll call for a driver to take you home."Karvel shook his head. "That won’t be necessary. I can drive myself."Morrison gave him a sharp look, his usual easy smile fading. "No, you can’t. You took a sip of that drink earlier, and even if it was small, it’s enough to put us at risk. You’re not just Karvel anymore, you’re the man the world is about to watch. You have a name, a reputation, and an empire to protect. We can’t afford mistakes, not even the smallest one."Karvel opened his mouth to argue, but the words caught in his throat. Morrison was right, and he knew it. The old man who lived in shadows, who could come and go as he p

"Just talk to her, so you both can settle this once and for all," Mrs. Amelia said softly, her tone carrying both advice and motherly concern. She placed a gentle hand on Karvel’s arm, making sure he looked at her. "And when you’re ready, make sure you explain everything to her clearly. Don’t leave her in the dark. She deserves to hear it all from you first, before anyone else."Karvel remained silent for a moment, his jaw tightening as though he was carrying a weight too heavy for words. He gave a slow nod, acknowledging her wisdom even though his heart wrestled with hesitation. His mind was already filled with the things he wanted to say, yet the fear of her reaction held him back.Mrs. Amelia sighed, sensing his turmoil. "She’s stronger than you think, Karvel. But she can only fight for what she understands. Don’t let silence destroy what you’ve built."This time, Karvel forced himself to meet her eyes. Gratitude flickered in his gaze, though he said nothing. With a deep breath, he

Karvel stood by the window of his mother’s room, his arms crossed as if building a barrier between himself and Elena. His voice was calm, but there was a firm edge to it when he finally spoke.“I don’t want to talk to you here,” he said, keeping his eyes fixed on the glass rather than on her. “You should go back to your office. Don’t leave your work unattended just because of me. Go back, focus on your responsibilities. We’ll talk later.”Elena’s chest tightened at his distant tone. She stepped forward, her words spilling out quickly before she lost her courage. “Can’t we just talk now? Please, Karvel. I’ll apologize for what I did today. I admit I was wrong. I’m sorry… You’re the one who gave me the benefit of the doubt when no one else did. I shouldn’t have taken that for granted.”Karvel finally turned his head, his gaze sharp and unyielding. “You can’t apologize without trying to twist it, can you?” he asked, his voice heavy with disappointment. “Every time you say sorry, there’s

Elena rushed down to the garage, her heels clicking against the concrete floor as her heart pounded in her chest. Without wasting a second, she slid into her car and started the engine, gripping the steering wheel tightly. Her mind raced as she drove, the city lights blurring past her window. She had only one destination in mind—the hospital where Karvel’s mother was staying. If Karvel wasn’t at the office, if he wasn’t answering her properly, then maybe, just maybe, he would be there. The drive felt longer than usual, every red light adding to her impatience. When she finally arrived, Elena parked her car carefully but quickly, her movements almost restless. She stepped out, smoothed down her dress, and hurried inside the hospital. The sterile scent of disinfectant and faint beeping of machines greeted her as she walked purposefully down the familiar corridor.Reaching Mrs. Amelia’s ward, Elena slowly pushed the door open. Inside, the gentle hum of the air conditioner filled the room

Elena walked out of the place, her heels clicking against the marble floor, leaving Sarah fuming angrily behind her. She didn’t even glance back; she didn’t want Sarah to see the faint tremble in her hands or the worry hidden in her eyes. Her heart raced, though she tried to hold her head high, as if Sarah’s sharp words had not gotten under her skin. When Elena finally reached her office, she pushed the door open, expecting almost hoping to find Karvel there waiting for her. But the room was empty. His chair sat untouched, his jacket missing from the backrest. The silence of the office pressed down on her chest, making her feel more alone than she wanted to admit.A nervous sigh escaped her lips as she grabbed her phone from the desk. Without thinking twice, she dialed Karvel’s number. She pressed the phone to her ear, pacing the length of the room until his voice came through.“Where are you?” Elena asked quickly, trying to sound calm though her voice wavered slightly.“Why are you a
