Jolie raised her gaze to the White Inc. Corp. building, which stood majestically among the other office buildings. The 345-meter-tall building, with dozens of stories, was beyond her reach, and her gaze furrowed in annoyance.

She stared at the building for a moment, then stepped inside with a grumpy expression. She tried to dial the same number again, but just as before, she still received no answer.

Her brow furrowed even deeper. "What is he doing? Is he really that busy that he can't even answer my calls?" She took a deep breath to calm herself.

She was supposed to be meeting with Handy today. He had scheduled a contract signing for her today, but since this morning, he had disappeared. There was no word from him to remind her to come, making her feel neglected.

She let out a sigh of relief, banishing her frustration. As she put her phone back in her bag, she walked confidently into the building.

She stopped right in front of the receptionist's desk, who greeted her warmly. "Can I help you, miss?"

In contrast to her, whose face was blank behind her glasses, Jolie didn't try to impress her at all. "I'm Handy's girlfriend. I have an appointment to see him today."

The short-haired receptionist blinked for a moment before maintaining the same smile. "Excuse me, miss, but Mr. Handy isn't in his office right now."

A twitch appeared on Jolie's face, her hand lowering the frame of her glasses to reveal her eyes, staring directly at the woman fiercely. "What do you mean? He asked me to come, how can he not be in his office?" Her voice rose.

Her chest began to tighten with rising emotions, which she tried to push down. "Just tell me, where is his office?" She continued, not wanting to waste time there.

"But miss…" the woman pressed her lips together awkwardly.

Jolie quickly caught the hesitation, which immediately ignited her. "Didn't you hear me? I said I was his girlfriend!" She snapped angrily.

Her body, initially ready to walk away, suddenly shifted completely to face the woman in an intimidating manner. "He treats me very well, he loves me deeply, and if he finds out you're trying to prevent me from seeing him, your position won't be secure. I can have you fired and out of here!"

Fear appeared on the woman's face. It wasn't that she didn't know Handy's capricious nature; what Jolie said sounded perfectly reasonable and in keeping with his personality. Not only was Handy known as a spoiled brat, but he was also the cause of frequent staff turnover at the office, as he wouldn't hesitate to ask his father to fire any staff member he disliked, even if they were wearing clothes similar to his own.

The woman clenched her fists and shook her head vaguely, banishing the thought of the trouble she would face if she upset Handy. Then, she looked at Jolie. "His room is on the top floor, Miss—"

Upon hearing this, Jolie immediately made her way to the nearest elevator.

The receptionist, seeing this, hurried to catch up and tried to continue, "But that floor is only for important appointments." She chased after him, trying to stop the elevator doors from closing.

Then Jolie's gaze sharpened, focusing on his hand, then rising to stare at his face angrily. "So you think I'm unimportant?"

He immediately shook his head. "No. That's not it." Nervously, he waved his other hand away.

Jolie glared at him, then smacked his hand with the clutch she was carrying. "Get out of my way, you're so annoying. Stop annoying me and get lost!" He slammed the elevator button shut, ignoring the woman who bowed her head in distress.

"I'm really going to get him fired," Jolie complained, pressing the number for the top floor.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, Jolie's gaze fell on the only door in the room. With a smile on her lips, she stepped out and entered without knocking, intending to surprise him. But the surprise turned against her.

After yelling at him, Jolie regained her composure. "Tell me, what are you doing here, Gideon?" Her gaze focused intently on him.

She thought he had come here to harass her because he was unhappy with what she had done to him.

But Gideon seemed completely unconcerned; he remained seated in his seat, slowly moving his chair from side to side. His eyebrows rose in a flat gaze. "I should be the one asking you."

She remembered Justin saying that only important people with access could set foot on that floor. She was certain Jolie wasn't one of those important people. "You shouldn't be here." Indirectly, he gently shooed her away.

However, Jolie's pride felt as if it had been trampled upon; she couldn't accept Gideon's arrogant attitude. "What nonsense are you talking about?!" The woman raged as she walked deeper into the room, which was the size of a typical school basketball court.

"I'm Handy's girlfriend!" She confidently pointed at herself in front of Gideon. "I deserve to be here, and you!"

She held her hand in the air, pointing at Gideon with gleaming eyes. "You're the one who doesn't deserve to be in this room! How dare you question my presence here!"

In her fury, she remembered the receptionist's words that only important people could access that floor, and Gideon's presence in the room raised a lot of questions.

She glared at him, her hands propped up on the table to support her. "Tell me, what are you doing here?" She pressed hard, full of suspicion.

Gideon looked at her lazily, rolling his eyes in exasperation, and then turned to something more appropriate. "I have important business here," he replied curtly.

Important business?

Jolie grinned sarcastically. All she knew was that the place had rejected Gideon; he no longer had any business there.

"Don't act like you. Someone like you doesn't deserve to set foot in this place. Even as a toilet cleaner, you're far below White Inc. Corp.'s standards, Gideon." Jolie sneered with a satisfied laugh.

Gideon looked at the woman with pity. His condescending laugh didn't hurt her ego at all, instead, his opinion of her only grew lower.

Gideon's lack of reaction made Jolie feel awkward. She felt strange, and then turned to look for Handy, who still hadn't appeared. She cursed Handy for not even contacting her and disappearing somewhere.

Her annoyance growing, she turned back to Gideon and took it out on him. "What are you waiting for? Get out of here!" Jolie shouted, pointing toward the exit.

Gideon glanced at her briefly, but then ignored her and stared at his phone screen.

This further angered Jolie, who slammed her palm on the table. The loud bang shattered the silence. "Didn't you hear me?" Her eyes trembled with anger. "I said get out, or I'll call security to have you dragged out of here immediately!"

Gideon looked up at her, his eyes slightly raised, a faint smirk on his lips. “Just do it,” he challenged her nonchalantly.

But seeing Gideon's face right in front of him, he remembered who he was.The Gideon he recognized was his friend's son. He wasn't wrong about that, and he had more than a passing knowledge of them. He knew that his friend—Gideon's father—was poor.He had witnessed Gideon's father living in poverty and struggling so hard just to survive. It was impossible for parents like that to raise their son to such a great person; it sounded like a ridiculous and implausible fairy tale."No." He shook his head and smiled, trying to calm himself, taking Justin's words as a joke.Unlike Gideon, Justin was an important person he needed to deal with properly. She knew Justin as well as she did Gideon's background. Justin was a senior executive at White.Inc

He wouldn't be able to act arrogantly in front of William, who held power at White.Inc Corp.Sensing that Gideon's anger wasn't enough, Jolie added further spice to it, "I've already told him that, sir, but this man is arrogant and still sitting there. He truly has no sense of self."William's gaze sharpened, focused on Gideon. Jolie's words rang true because even now, Gideon was sitting cross-legged, unassumingly in front of her, who held power there. "Get your feet out of there right now!" the man said firmly. But Gideon didn't budge. He remained where he was, ignoring William's instructions."Who exactly are you, and why did you come into this place? Who gave you permission to come?" The man questione

Normally, he never ignored her, acted coldly toward her, or even contradicted her.The Gideon she knew was a cowardly man who obeyed whatever she said, lacking the courage to challenge or even assert his opinion in their relationship.
