I stepped out into the blinding sunlight.
On my right shoulder perched Ian, wings flickering with silver lightning. Bouncing softly beside my left boot was lex, its dark blue obsidian shell humming with deep heavy water pressure.
The crowd went wild, but Gideon’s face twisted into a sneer of pure contempt.
"A dragon and a turtle?" Gideon laughed, his voice amplified by the arena speakers. "You bound a slow, pathetic swamp turtle for your second slot? You really are a brainless shelter rat, Kin!
I stopped at the tamer circle, my face expressionless. "Your panther’s shadow collar is illegal, Gideon. The council put it on your beast to paralyze my wind movements."
Gideon’s eyes flickered with surprise before turning cold and cruel. "So what if you know? Nobody here is going to stop me. The council runs this city, kin! In five minutes, my panther will shred your dragon, crush your turtle, and snap your neck!"

The B-Rank Shadow Panther let out an ear-splitting howl. A pitch-black shadow pool erupted from its feet, spreading across the entire dirt arena in a split second! Dark, spectral shadow claws shot up from the ground, aiming straight for Ian's wings and my legs!
"Haha! You're trapped!" Gideon screamed maniacally.
I didn't even move an inch. I looked down at the tiny tortoise beside my boot.
"Lex," I commanded, my voice echoing with absolute authority. "Domain of the Abyss- Absolute Mirror Shield."

A massive wave of deep blue water-light exploded from lex’s shell, forming a towering, ancient dome of impenetrable liquid energy that enveloped me, Ian, and lex!
The thousands of lethal shadow claws slammed violently into the blue dome.

Instead of breaking the shield, the entire force of the shadow attack was instantly absorbed, converted, and redirected backward through the air with twice the speed!
WHOOSH BOOM!
A roaring shockwave of reflected shadow and water energy blasted straight back across the arena, shattering Gideon’s defense barriers and slamming the B-Rank Shadow Panther into the far stadium wall with bone crushing force.
