"What does that wild beast want now? Isn't he satisfied with yelling at me this afternoon?" Li Jie whispered.

"If he dares to cause trouble, I'll teach him a lesson!" Mei Lian responded.

Li Jie was surprised to hear his beloved speak like that. As far as he knew, Mei Lian had a gentle soul and had never spoken harshly to anyone.

"What are you doing here? Haven't you had enough of insulting Li Jie!?" Mei Lian, consumed by anger, immediately launched a verbal attack on Princess Yuan Li.

Princess Yuan Li lowered her head, unable to meet Li Jie's gaze, which had haunted her thoughts since that afternoon. Not to mention the hostile glare from the girl standing beside him.

"So his name is Li Jie? A nice name, fitting for his handsome face," she murmured to herself.

"Why are you silent!? Say what you came here for!" Mei Lian snapped.

"Don't scold her like that. Everyone deserves a chance to change for the better," Li Jie said, calming his fiancée.

---Wong Fei walked with a grimace of pain. The tip of the sword had sunk a bit deeper, causing blood to flow more heavily from his wound.Meanwhile, in one of the rooms, Commander Wei Zi stood with his hands on his hips before Emperor Huang Jia. Roughly, he pulled away the cloth gag that covered the mouth of the Tong Dynasty emperor.> “Wei Zi… I don’t know why you’re doing this. You were one of the most trusted men in my court!”“Hahaha… Maybe you’ve done nothing wrong to me, Huang Jia. But your late father did—he murdered my father!” replied Commander Wei Zi.> “My father’s fault? Who are you really?” asked Emperor Huang Jia, narrowing his eyes.“It’s time I revealed my true identity to you, Huang Jia!” Commander Wei Zi unsheathed the sword from his waist.> “I am the son of the late Emperor Wei Hu, who was slain by your father! And I will take revenge for his death!”Emperor Hua

A soldier rushed in and knelt before the two men. "Report, Your Highness. This location has been discovered by that young man. I received the information from a trusted source.""How could that be?" Commander Wei Zi thought.Prime Minister Yu Long quickly responded. He ordered the loyal soldiers under his command to intercept Li Jie and the others if they approached Wong Fei's residence."How did he find out?" Commander Wei Zi's heart pounded. The fear that his plan to seize control of the Tong Dynasty would be ruined overwhelmed his thoughts."I don’t know either, Your Highness," Yu Long replied."Could someone from our side have betrayed us?" Commander Wei Zi asked again."I don’t think that’s possible, Your Highness. All of our men passed strict loyalty tests. No one would dare betray us!" Yu Long clearly didn’t want to be blamed for the breach. Commander Wei Zi's questioning seemed to corner him."Then what

The farther they searched, the less trace they found of Commander Wei Zi, nor of the group of bandits who had ambushed them.Yung Yin began to suspect that Commander Wei Zi might have been killed or taken by the bandits.“So, what should we do now? Keep searching or something else?” Yung Yin asked.“Don’t you sense something strange?” Li Jie asked in return.Yung Yin shook his head slowly. “I guess it’s possible they ran away after seeing us slaughter their companions,” he replied.“In that case, let’s just return to the palace now,” said Li Jie.“All right,” answered Yung Yin.They then spurred their horses toward the Tong Dynasty palace.By dawn, they finally arrived at the palace. Li Jie and Yung Yin chose to rest in their own chambers before meeting with Queen Yue Qi.Even though his body lay flat on the bed, Li Jie still couldn’t fall asleep, despite being overwhelmingly drowsy. "Commander Wei Zi was right. But it wouldn't hurt to also search the palace thoroughly for His Majesty’s whereabouts. If he's not in the palace, then I have no idea where else to look for him," replied Li Jie, his eyes glancing at a wooden chair left in the corner of the room."Very well. Once we arrive at the palace, we’ll deploy the soldiers to look for His Majesty. For now, let’s return!" responded Commander Wei Zi."But, Sir… it’s already late in the afternoon. If we insist on returning now, we’ll be deep in the forest by nightfall. Wouldn’t it be better if we stayed here for the night and returned in the morning?" asked Yung Yin.Commander Wei Zi slowly shook his head. "His Majesty and Her Majesty’s safety is my highest priority. If we go back tomorrow morning, we won’t reach the palace until midday. And we have no idea what could happen at the palace while we’re away.""Commander Wei Zi is right, Yung Yin. We should head back now rather than wait until morning," interjected Bayu

  • Change of Plan

The Queen paused in thought. Everyone in the room stayed silent, allowing the elegant woman to find her answer. After nearly ten minutes, Queen Yue Qi finally identified two possible places."There are two places that might fit your theory, Li Jie. First, a palace built by my husband to honor his deceased parents. The second is within this very palace," Queen Yue Qi said, taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly.Li Jie's mind worked quickly upon hearing her answer. "Your Majesty mentioned the palace because it is sacred to His Majesty, leading you to suspect he might be hidden there."The Queen nodded in agreement and provided directions to the palace in question."Very well. Since it is already late, I, Yung Yin, and Wei Zi will depart tomorrow morning. If His Majesty is truly hidden in that palace, our task will simply be to uncover the culprit—and that will be easy because His Majesty surely knows who orchestrated this abduction," Li

He lay flat, ensuring no one would notice him, with one ear pressed against the roof.He continued to wait for more crucial information to come from their mouths. Not long after, eight soldiers who had just returned from inspecting the rooms of Yung Yin and Li Jie at the palace were already present at Du Hao's residence."So? Did you get good results?" asked Prime Minister Tan Bo."Apologies, Prime Minister. They were both in their respective rooms," replied one of the soldiers.Prime Minister Tan Bo sighed heavily, stroking his white beard slowly. His mind wandered, full of questions about who the infiltrator could be if Li Jie and Yung Yin were each in their rooms."What is the current condition of Emperor Huang Jia, Prime Minister?" Du Hao suddenly asked.Li Jie, who was lying on the grand residence's roof, felt his heart pound, eager
