" You may now kiss the bride." the clergy said staring at Kael.

But instead, Seraphina simply walked out of the podium leaving Kael all by himself.

" It seems like we are done here." the man said staring at Kael's face. " Are you alright, son?" he asked again

Kael simply nodded.

Arthur walked slowly towards them and shook hands with the clergy. " Thank you, Madison."

" I am glad to be of help, Arthur." he replied.

Madison looked at Kael again, " You should take care of him. Seems like he is in pain."

Arthur stared at Kael who was lost in thought and nodded.

" Are you alright, son?" he asked

" Why me?" Kael asked. " Your daughter seems to hate me."

Arthur laughed heartedly. " You are going to grow on each other very soon. I am happy to have you in my family, Kael. I can't wait to brag to the whole world who my granddaughter got married to. Come!"

Kael let out a long sigh as he watched the old man walk down the isle.

He stared back at Madison who can't seems to understand why a Lockhart was getting married to a nobody.

As Kael walked out of the church, he could already feel his wound healing.

His god hands was at work.

[ THE LOCKHART'S HOME ]

" You are going to show him the ways of this family."

Arthur said crunching the food in his mouth. " I want him brought to speed about everything!"

Leo and Marcus stared at themselves and back at Arthur.

"You are not talking to us are you?" Leo asked, dropping his cutlery.

Arthur said nothing but simply continued with his food. He gaze up occasionally to make sure Kael was eating too.

" And why do I have to do that? I met this man some few hours ago and now he is my husband? Do you even know his standards are way belows ours?" Seraphina said with a darkened eyes.

Her plate were filled with her food and it seems she had not touched it since they got to the dinning.

" My standards are not to be measured with yours, Seraphina. Do you even know what you are talking too? I am.."

" You are nothing!"

Vivan said loudly. Her gaze locked on Kael. "Did you see what you have caused, Father? None of this would have happened."

She slid the tablet over to Arthur, " Read the article that is being published about this family. Do you know what people are going to say behind our backs?"

Arthur grabbed the white napkin and cleaned his oil mouth. His gaze scanned the articles before he looked back at Vivian.

" Do you care about the published mail or about keeping this family alive?"

Leo and Marcus laughed almost at the same time.

" And who is going to keep us alive?" Leo said mockingly.

" Him?" Marcus added.

Marcus grabbed his phone and typed Kael's name to the goggle.

He stood up and walked to Arthur, shoving the phone in his face.

" He is no one! Father! No one. Not a single name or property to his name. How does a man with nothing save us? His life would have yet had meaning to work as a gate keeper in this family!"

Kael feeling insulted twisted on the chair he sat on. Still, he said nothing.

If only they knew who they were sitting with was the most wanted man in New Orleans.

Arthur stared at Kael, " How is your wound?"

Kael nodded. "I have seen worse. This meant nothing."

Vivan laughed. A cold bitter smile. " And you think we are just going to accept you into this family? Right!"

Kael raised his gaze, dropping his cutlery, " You should be lucky I was on time when does mean attacked. Do you honestly think your sons can stop them?"

The room went quiet.

Arthur's face lit up the room. He has been speaking for Kael all this while but it seems he has found his courage.

" Are you insulting my brothers?" Seraphina said in anger.

" Insulting? Really? I saved you twice now, Seraphina and each time, you have managed to insult me." Kael replied

Vivan looked at Kael with a disgusting look.

" Safed? You call sleeping with my daughter saving her? You raped her you fucking rapist!" she shouted slamming her hands on the table.

"Do you know what is done to a rapist? One article released about what you did and you will be spending the rest of your life in jail!" Leo fired, his eyes flared in anger

" Really? You still think you are calling the shots here?" Kael asked, his gaze scanning the room.

Marcus grabbed his fork so tightly it could bend under his fingers. " And who do you think you are, Mr nobody! I bet I could make you disappear just by making a few calls!"

Arthur banged his hands on the table so hard that the cups and plate jumped up in obedience. " You are not going to insult Seraphina's husband while I am still at this table!"

The room went silent again.

The old man grabbed the glass cup and gulped down the water in it.

His gaze went slowly to Seraphina. "Watch the way and manners you speak to your husband. I won't allow any disrespect in this house. Do you hear me?"

Arthur got up grabbing his cane, he turned back and stared at them. " You are going to take him to the family's tennis court. I want him to feel free at home, Seraphina. I expect you to also be submissive."

The room was in silence as Arthur walked away.

Leo, Marcus and Vivian stood up immediately. " We are going to see how long you are going to last with the old man behind your back. You are nothing without him Kael. You have no place in this family! Do you hear me!" Vivan barked

Seraphina knew one thing, Kael might have married her but she was not going to give him her heart.

There was nothing she or even anyone could do. The stage was lit with just one man's body lying before them all. Leo swallowed hard. “He’s… dead.”Marcus didn’t respond. His eyes were locked on Kael’s chest. It wasn’t moving, not even a little.A soft chuckle broke the silence.Alaric.He stepped forward slowly, his gloved hand brushing lightly against the edge of the table as though he were admiring a piece of art.“Such a brave young man…” he murmured. “Or perhaps… just foolish.”Seraphina snapped. “You said you could bring him back!” she shouted, her voice cracking. “Do it!”Joe stared back at her, wondering why she was this feisty wh

The whole room froze. Eyes followed the strange man like he was a god when he moved. "Who is that?" Leo said with a smirk. Kael's gaze furrowed a bit. He remembered Dennis's word again. Someone was trying to play his role, but then all he had to do was relax and see how things were going to unfold. A golden chair was immediately brought towards him to sit in. The man was wearing a glove on his right hand, and his gaze was quite serious. The music quieted down a bit. "You all gathered here waiting for me. Didn't you?" his voice echoed. His feet clinking against the marble floor. Joe walked forward; he slowly bowed his face to the ground. "We didn't know you were going to grace us with your presence, mighty one. Welcome." Kael laughed gently, covering his mouth. One of the guards saw him and gave him a cold face. Seraphina's gaze landed on this strange man and rushed towards him with her knees bent. "Please, I need you to heal my father. I am ready to give you everything t

Both men looked back and were stunned. "What are you doing, Peter?" she said, slowly walking towards them. Kael paused. He didn't know the woman, but she was pretending to know him, and not only that, she was prettier and well-dressed. By now, Kael knew all the families who wronged him by sigils and even crests. His eyes landed on her breast, and he could see the sigil she carried.A silver crest shaped like a coiled serpent wrapped around a crown."Stand down!" she barked at the man holding the baton. "Sure thing, Miss Veronica. I didn't know he was with you," he said with a bow.His gaze landed back on Kael, and he immediately bowed. "I am sorry. I failed to recognize you. Kael's gaze furrowed slightly. Recognize me? No one knew who he was. Not even the Locharts. So whoever this woman was must be mistaken. "You should have shown him the card. Did you not have that, Peter?" She asked again. Kael coughed before he simply adjusted his cuffs. "I am sorry, Miss, but I think y

The Locharts stepped out into the night with a black SUV waiting patiently inside the mansion. Its engine purred to life like a beast the moment the chauffeur saw Seraphina, Leo, and Marcus walking towards the car. "I can't believe we are doing this." Seraphina said with a smile. "You need to behave, little sis; I don't want Leo thinking we need him so badly." Leo said with a corner of his eyes raised. Marcus stopped, just a few steps away from the car. "And what about Kael? What do we do?" Seraphina frowned. "You do have a way of ruining my night, don't you?"Marcus looked at her and then back at Leo. "We don't want him around, but yet he is your husband. What if something bad happened? Leo laughed. "Really, Marcus? A guy who could shoot that long distance and a man who could fight. What possibly could go wrong?" Seraphina walked into the car without another word. "You need to ease up, man. Kael is nothing that old man paints him to be." Leo said, "Do you even think a man lik

The silence Arthur left behind didn’t feel normal. It wasn’t just quiet—it was heavy.Like the walls themselves had heard something they weren’t supposed to.Seraphina was still smiling… but it no longer reached her eyes."...Kael?" she muttered again, almost to herself, as if repeating it would suddenly make it make sense. Then she scoffed loudly, turning away. “This is ridiculous.”Vivian didn’t respond immediately. That alone was enough to shift the tension.Because Vivian Lochart always had something to say.Always.But now… her gaze was fixed on the file Arthur had dropped.Marcus noticed it first."Mother?" he called, narrowing his eyes. “You’re not actually buying into this nonsense, are you?”Vivian slowly walked forward. She picked up the file. And for a brief second—just a second—her fingers hesitated. Then she opened it.Leo leaned over her shoulder casually. “Let’s see what kind of fairy tale the old man—”His words stopped mid-sentence. The Lochart's mansion felt like it was going to collapse anytime soon the moment Arthur walked back in. "How dare you?!" he barked, staring at Seraphina."What did I do now, Grandpa?" Seraphina said, rolling her eyes. "Do I need to babysit a grown-up man?" Arthur's face lit up with rage. "Vivan!" he said with venom. "Is this how you raise my granddaughter? A woman who talks back at her elder?" Vivan smirked, rolling her eyes like she didn't care about what her father had just said. "Dad, you need to understand that Kael is not a kid. Why would he do that? Did he even understand the gravity of what he did? How dare he challenge Leo?" she said. Arthur let out an air of frustration. "Oh my god! Do you even know what is at stake?" Leo laughed. "Grandpa, whatever it is that is bothering you, we can handle it." Arthur turned, his cane tapping the ground in frustration. "And what exactly have you been doing? Have you seen the chart? Our business is dwindling. Our stocks are dropping,
