Fortunately for him, Mrs Stevenson's secretary was a very good fighter and while he was fighting the man in a hoodie, Javier came to his senses and ran out to call security instead of just watching in fear.

When he came back with security men, the man was already subdued and was taken away by the security.

"This place is definitely not safe anymore for you" he said once they were left alone.

"I can't believe someone is trying to kill me because they think I'm someone who is already dead" he said while breathing heavily. "Didn't you guys tell me I'm safe? How on earth did they know my location?" He asked impatiently.

"We have no idea of how they found out."

"I can't spend another night here. I've recovered fully"

"I need to answer this call. Excuse me", the secretary walked out, leaving Javier pacing around.

"Any updates from the police?" Ashley asked impatiently.

"He isn't changing his story. He kept saying he tried to kill Damian on his own."

"As expected. Matthew will never hire someone that will rat him out" She folded her arms across her chest. "By all means, Javier should be discharged tomorrow morning. I cannot let him die."

"I will speak to the doctor," her secretary said, and left.

After hearing about the failed attempt to kill Damian again in the hospital where he was receiving treatment, Nathan, his cousin, rushed into his Father's study in fear. He was scared the person they hired wouldn't keep their name out of the whole situation.

"Dad!" He called out loudly "We are in trouble! He is in police custody, and he might tell the truth anytime soon!"

"Then we have to shut him up before he does" Matthew said calmly as he lit his cigarette.

"Shut him up? You…don't… I mean not like we are killing another person, right?" He stammered. He knew his father would do anything to get whatever he wanted and would crush any threat that stood in his way, but killing another person when most people were already suspecting them of the attempted murder of Damian and killing another person didn't sit well with him.

"Then, do you think I will sit back and trust someone who couldn't get the job done properly in the first place?" He paused briefly "We are eliminating him tonight."

"Your lawyer is here to see you" A police officer said as he unlocked the gate for the man hired to come out.

"My lawyer?" He asked himself in disbelief, since he didn't call any lawyer, then he guessed it could be Matthew that sent him one.

He pulled out a chair and sat down.

"Did Mr Stevenson send you?" He asked the lawyer.

"Yes, he hired me" the lawyer paused. "This is also for you". He took out a lunchbox and opened it. "Don't worry, we have plenty of time, you can eat while we talk" the lawyer smiled at him to make him feel at ease.

"Okay" he said and moved the food closer and began to eat while waiting for the lawyer to start his questions.

"I see you are not really smart" the lawyer said when the hired killer was almost done eating. "That explains why you couldn't kill him in your two attempts."

"Do you have a death wish!" The killer yelled in anger. "You will be the first person I will kill once I'm out of this place, you bastard!"

"I doubt you will be able to come out, not to even say you will kill me" the lawyer smirked.

"What do you mean,asshole? Huh?"

"Everything should be over in the next twenty minutes" his lips curled into a half smile. "Mr Stevenson told me to tell you that you have done your best". The lawyer stood up and carried his suitcase. "Don't worry, I'll finish the job you couldn't finish when you had the chance", he walked out, leaving the hired killer, who was still trying to understand what was going on alone.

Javier got discharged from the hospital and moved into Mrs Stevenson's house.

The house was nothing compared to his imagination and he wondered if he would have an opportunity to step his foot into the house if the situation was different.

His mouth hung open at the luxury surrounding him, he just couldn't believe such a house would be his home from now. He was overwhelmed by the sheer scale and beauty of the structures. The glittering chandelier, the towering marble columns and the intricate moldings and frescoes on the ceilings were nothing he had ever seen before.

"Mrs Stevenson said you should see her in her study before going to your room, young master" a maid said politely.

"Her Study?" He scratched the back of his head because he had no idea where it was and Mrs Stevenson's secretary wasn't there to help him out.

"Can you show me her study?" He asked, and the maid gave him a 'how come you don't know when you have always lived here' look

"You know I have been in the hospital because of my neck injury, so the doctor said it is likely I forgot something I used to know". He knew the chance of the maid believing him was slim.

"Oh! Let me show you her study, sir", the maid said immediately, and he finally sighed in relief, then followed closely behind.

The maid went back to her duty after she had shown Javier where Mrs Stevenson's study was. Javier opened the double doors of her study and entered. The study was stunning. It had enormous bookshelves that rose to the ceiling, a carved stone fireplace, and two tall arched windows.

"You are here" Mrs Stevenson, who was seated behind her mahogany desk that was in the middle of the room, said softly.

"I think you should give me a tour around the house as soon as possible, or else the maids might start suspecting me. I had to lie that I had memory problems", he said.

"We will definitely do that."

Javier nodded.

"In two weeks' time, you will have to make an appearance at the company because I was given just a month to bring you before the board of directors", Ashley began "So before then, you will have to be trained on how to behave just like Damian."

"What else do I have to learn about that guy?" He blurted out and covered his mouth when he realized what he had said. "I'm sorry, that was very insensitive of me", he apologized quickly.

"It is fine", Ashley paused briefly. "The way you talk, and your posture all needs correction."

The study's door opened and the secretary entered.

"There is something you need to know. It is from the police."

"What is it?"

"The man arrested for trying to murder Javier was found dead minutes after he met with his lawyer"

"What? How did it happen? Did he commit suicide?"

"According to the police, they were suspecting he was poisoned, but it will be confirmed after an autopsy"

"I knew Mathew was up to something, but how on Earth was he poisoned?"

"I was told his lawyer brought food for him when he came visiting, so the police are suspecting him. They tried to look for him, but his identity was fake. He wasn't a lawyer."

"Does that mean nobody is trying to kill me now?" Javier asked slowly.

"No, it means more danger is coming and we need to be prepared!"
