Lucas nodded, feeling a surge of resolve. Today had been a victory, but he knew the war was far from over. Together, with Agnes and Bulb, he would prepare for the battles to come, for the revenge he had long dreamed of, and for the protection of those he still had left to save.

They moved away from the smoldering ruins of Dellwyn, the once-thriving village now reduced to ash and rubble. Lucas’s eyes scanned the horizon constantly, alert for any lingering threats. Agnes led the way, the small flying boat gliding silently above the ground, Bulb following behind, his sword secured at his side. The wind tugged at Lucas’s hair, but he remained deep in thought.

“I still don’t understand how you found me,” Lucas said finally, breaking the tense silence. His voice was cautious, skeptical. “And why? How do I know you’re not leading me into a trap?”

Agnes glanced back at him, her expression calm but firm. “You have reason to doubt. Anyone would. But we are not your enemies, Lucas. We’ve been tr

The night was thick with mist, a shroud that clung to the trees and muted even the faint glow of the moon. Maelrik crouched at the forest’s edge, fingers pressed to the cold earth, eyes narrowed. The lingering crackle of energy beneath his palm was faint, almost imperceptible to the untrained, but to him it sang like a whisper on the wind.He had saw it hours ago—a surge of power so sudden and raw that it had jolted even Tharion’s dark wards across Dellwyn. Lucas had made his move. The boy’s defiance was no longer rumor or suspicion. it was a flare sent into the night, a spark of rebellion strong enough to leave traces that only a hunter like Maelrik could follow.“They’re heading east,” Maelrik muttered, rising slowly, his long black cloak brushing against the wet grass. One of his lieutenants, a lean soldier named Veyren, stepped closer, clutching a lantern shaded in deep red glass. “East? Toward the peaks?”Maelrik gave a sharp nod, his piercing gaze sweeping across the forest. “Th

  • Chapter 30 ~ The King's Relic

The small camp in the forest was quiet except for the crackling of a fire and the occasional rustle of leaves from the wind. Bulb rolled out an ancient map, its edges frayed and creased from years of use. The drawings were detailed, showing forests, mountains, rivers, and villages, with small symbols marking known magical currents and safe passages. Lucas leaned over the table, studying the lines carefully.“This,” Bulb said, pointing at a small, circled symbol near the center, “is what we need to find, the King’s Relic. The ring Tharion wears. Destroy it, and his power will weaken. Everything else follows.”Lucas frowned. “Destroy it? How? And how do we even find it? He wouldn’t keep it lying around.”Bulb’s eyes narrowed. “The ring wasn’t made to be ordinary. It was forged by an artificer who no longer trusts anyone. The one who made it is the only one who can tell us how to undo it. We need to find him.”Agnes leaned in, her finger tracing a path along the map. “The artificer lives

  • Chapter 29 ~ Vows

Seventeen hours after the battle, the forest around Dellwyn was silent, the only sound being the occasional rustle of leaves and the distant cries of crows circling over the ruined village. Lucas sat on the cold forest floor, knees drawn to his chest, staring blankly at the ground. The devastation of the village still burned in his mind. The destruction, the smoke, and most painfully the memory of Mirna lying lifeless. His fists clenched tight, dirt digging into his palms as the weight of his grief threatened to crush him.Agnes and Bulb, the mysterious duo who had saved him moments ago, had set up a small camp nearby, but they kept their distance. They understood that Lucas needed a moment alone, that his sorrow was a storm he had to face by himself before he could move forward. Finally, after a long silence, Lucas lifted his head. His eyes, usually bright with the magic of the spirit realm, were heavy with pain. “I… I can’t go any further,” he said, his voice rough, strained with em

  • Chapter 28 ~ Rise of a New Priest

The polished marble floors of the royal audience hall reflected the flickering torchlight as Cazien stepped forward, his black robes whispering softly against the floor. He had received the summons from the king, expecting a routine discussion, perhaps counsel on matters of magic or the usual deliberations of the priesthood. What he did not expect, however, was the tension that seemed to choke the very air around Tharion’s throne.“Your Highness,” Cazien began, bowing his head respectfully. “I trust all is well.”Tharion’s dark eyes glimmered as he gestured slightly with one hand. “Cazien, my faithful priest. How bright your wisdom shines… yet how dim your understanding of loyalty can be.”Cazien stiffened, sensing the subtle threat in the king’s tone. Tharion’s words carried layers, each syllable weighed with meaning beyond the surface.“Loyalty, Your Majesty?” Cazien inquired cautiously, keeping his tone even. “I have always served your throne, as is my duty even when your actions a

  • Chapter 27 - The Haunt

Maelrik strode through the marble corridors of the palace, his boots echoing against the stone floor. The weight of his failure—and the embarrassment of his close call sat heavily on his shoulders. The air smelled faintly of incense and wax from the chandeliers above, but even that could not mask the tension that had been brewing ever since the black flame had been defeated, seemingly at the hands of a mysterious boy.Maelrik entered the shadowed hall of the palace with measured steps. The massive doors had been thrown open, and the chill of the evening crept along the marble floors. The torchlight flickered against the high ceilings, casting long, wavering shadows across the room. At the far end, King Tharion sat on his throne. Beside him stood Lareth, the King’s special advisor, his hands folded behind his back, his sharp gaze fixed on the man approaching.“You may speak,” Tharion said without preamble, his voice cold and commanding, yet carrying the weight of controlled fury.“Yes,
