The old man slowly opened his eyes to the surroundings.

"B— bianca.." he called out to her granddaughter and Bianca quickly rushed to the bed in excitement, relief exploding over her face.

"Papa, you're awake... you're awake.." her hand went all over his body, carefully not to inflict any pain. She was overwhelmed with emotions.

"I feel better..." Grandfather Amos Said, giving smile that was slightly broken but genuine.

"Let me remove the needles. He's fine for now until we get the permanent treatment for the poison."

Bianca stepped aside for him to remove the needle with quick precision that Grandfather Amos even any physical sting.

Dr. Greg had gone completely still at the side, his shoulder sagged like a snapped spring.

"How... how did he do that?" His thoughts spiralled to grasp a straw in the whole thing. Then it clicked. He'd been treating Grandfather Amos for the past five hours, giving every treatment to him and Elias had simply came in to put up a little show to take accolades his effort.

"Elais you lying piece of shit!" His finger snapped at him. You're trying to take the glory when I'm actually the person who did the real job!"

Bianca didn't hesitate. She didn't even signal a warning. Her arm swung through the air like a whip slamming Greg in the face. The impact sounded like bullet jamming Steel.

"Keep your month quiet!"

Dr. Greg stumbled back one step, his expression paled in shock. His medical team stiffened behind him.

"Bianca.."

"Get out of this place now!" Bianca cut him off, her finger snapped to the door. She clicked forward to him in two steps. "And just so you know, you're not the only one who had the access to the National Medical Ethics bureau. Your jobs is done. This is what your incompetence and pride brings you."

Dr. Greg's face paled. The weight of the reality settled on him like a lead. His heart slammed his chest in panic. The Morreti has the connection and power to make his career fall overnight and it looks like Bianca was stepping in for Elias now.

"Bianca..no please...we can settle this without anyone losing anything..my job is my life..."

Elias simply folded his arms while Bianca took the floor.

"You should have known. You should have just kept your running mouth shut! But you're foolish enough to start the challenge— you challenged the competence of my guest. I won't let that slide, Mr. Greg. If Elias had lost to you, you would have locked him up, won't you?" Her head titled slightly.

"Ms.Bianca..No.."

"...so you don't get to back out now when you're the loser. You're loosing your job, your medical certificate and whatever gives you the qualifications to operate privately. I'll make sure your career is handicapped."

Elias chuckled softly in amusement, at the way Bianca stood in for him. It was strangely satisfyingly to watch.

Dr. Greg's expression drained of colour. His body began to tremble, sweats formed over his face and like Bianca presented, he was already seeing his career crashing down. Her knee went down hard against the marble with a sharp crack. His team gasped in shock.

"Doc.."

Dr. Greg reach out to the hold her leg but Bianca pulled away immediately.

"Please Ms. Bianca.. please forgive me.. I'll never challenge your decision anymore. Please my job means a lot to me..." The apology tumbled out from his mouth.

Ms. Bianca stared down at him with cold expression.

"You offended my guest. You should apologize to him instead. Maybe. Just maybe I'll be willing to let it slide then."

Dr. Greg's head snapped up to look at Elias, pride warring with the realization his career was about to crash if he didn't do the necessary— to crumble at the feet of the man who he's classified as a nobody. Sweats dripped down from his head, his lab coat collar was wrinkled and soaked at the collar.

Ms. Bianca was already pulling out her phone seeing his hesitation.

Dr. Greg immediately crawled to Elias' feet, held his shoulder and shaking it frantically.

"Please.. please..Mr. Kade.. forgive me. I was wrong for underestimating you. Please forgive me. Don't let me lose my career. Please."

Elias' expression was indifferent.

"Dr. Greg you started this challenge in the first place. I was uninterested but your arrogance led you into this so you deal with whatever thing comes your way now." Elias pulled away from him.

Dr Greg crawled after him, his eyes blurry with tears now.

"Please forgive me..I am ready to do anything you ask. I am ready to serve you, I'll be one of your disciples."

"I don't need your service." Elais' voice was firm.

Two securities walked into the room. Bianca had called them.

"Move, Doc or we'll drag you out." One commanded.

"Please.. please.."

Seeing he wasn't ready to comply, the two Securities pulled him up from the floor, dragging him out of the room while he kept screaming apology till his voice faded down the hallway and the door clicked shut behind him.

Bianca turned to Elias as silence settled over the room.

"Mr. Kade. I am so sorry about the disturbance. Thank you for helping my grandfather. I can't pay you enough for this."

"Is he the young man who treated me?" Grandfather Amos asked, pushing himself up from the bed with surprising strength.

Bianca nodded with a smile.

The man threw punch and kicked the air playfully.

"I feel very much better. My body is energetic like I am just a teenager."

Bianca giggled. Elias smiled faintly— amused.

"The poison is out of your body but your blood and median needs to be cleansed." Elias said.

Grandfather Amos held his arm, overwhelmed with emotions.

"I am very grateful young man. You gave me a second chance to live and I'll show my gratitude. Tomorrow is my birthday. I'm holding a banquet. Please I'll be honoured if you'll be present, Mr. Kade. You'll get to meet Elites, people who will pay millions for the kind of your service."

"I am grateful, Sir but this won't be necessary. " Elias said, turning the old man down politely. He never wanted exposure. At least not too fast.

The old man tightened his grip around his arms gently, his expression hinted with plea.

"Please Mr. Kade."

"Papa, Mr. Kade doesn't really like expose." Bianca chipped in.

"Oh, well then. Just honour me with your presence at my birthday party." The old man persisted.

Seeing that the man wasn't going to let him off, Elias nodded in acceptance.

"Alright, Sir. I'll be there."

Relief flooded the old man's face. "Thank you, Mr. Kade. Thank you." He then turned to Bianca. "I need you to prepare a Card for Mr. Kade immediately. $10 million dollars stocked inside. Please manage it Mr. Kade."

Elias' expression slightly widened in mild surprise.

"I didn't treat you for money, Sir. I did it because it's necessary to save a life. You just need to be careful about what you eat and where you go."

The old man nodded in understanding.

"Thank you, Mr. Kade," he said. "But it'll be ungrateful of me if I don't show my gratitude. Please accept it, Mr. Kade. Bianca will prepare it immediately."

Bianca was surprised Elais turned down the money without a double-take. She was further intrigued about him.

Elias let out a soft exhale, about to reject the offer again.

"Then take it as a just a favour return, Mr. Kade. Please." Bianca chipped in politely.

"Alright then." Elais said with a soft exhale, knowing his gentle protest won't make them change their decision.

They stepped out of the room. The old man pulled her granddaughter to the side.

"That young man, what do you think about him? He's calm and polite...and even handsome."

"Grandfather?" Bianca let out a controlled gasp, her eyes widened.

"He is exceptional. I like him. If you have him as your husband, it'll be a good thing and I'll be happy about it. I'll support you. Keep him close." The old man said, glancing at Elias at a distance. "Or you'll allow me to ask him out for you if you're too shy."

"Papa..."

Bianca gasped. Her face flushed in embarrassment.

"How long have you been watching?" She dried her wet palm with a towel and turned to him, smiling. Elias leaned against the door frame casually. "Long enough to know you didn't shed tears while cutting those Onions." Bianca chuckled. "Do you?" "I love Onions— in food of course but I hate chopping them. Makes me shed tears I never intended." Bianca laughed. "What other things make you cry aside onions? Like the woman you love breaking your heart?" Elias' smile died slowly. "I'm..I'm sorry.. Didn't mean to hit a nerve." Elias nodded. "You didn't," He said with a quiet voice, unbothered about Amara— he was just disappointed he did all he did for the wrong woman. "She just hadn't done all of this for once. I mean the petty things that matter in a marriage." Bianca raised a brow in surprise. "Then what's she up to?" "I heard you just divorced." "I'll look for a place." Elias simply said. Bianca nodded but she wasn't satisfied. She pulled out two black cards from her pocket. • THE NINE VEINS VENOM

Elias walked to the slab where the old man lay motionless. His eyes, trained sharper than any advanced cutting-edge technology with ancient technique that most people had forgotten assessed him keenly. Silence fell over the room except for the steady beeping of the heart monitor displaying analysis that suggested life was hanging on a very slim thread that made snapping so-soon inevitable. Dr. Greg watched Elias with arms folded across his chest, his smirk sharp. He chuckled softly, shaking his head and waiting for the moment Elias would eventually humiliate himself. Bianca stood in a straight posture, her eyes never blinking from Elias. The old man's breathing was slow— too slow that suggested whatever was going on through his body was diminishing his heart function, his face paled as though somehow in his paralyzed state, he was in the land of ghosts. Elias pressed two fingers on his neck to feel his pulse. His eyes narrowed, his expression cracking in genuine surprise. Dr. Gr

The private infirmary smelled of luxury and something more than was poisonous and dangerous. His brow arched instantly but he didn't speak. The people were inside the room, dressed in a white coat. Elais immediately recognized their faces. They are physicians working in Amara's company. The three Physicians were working on an old man who laid still on a slab with advanced technology connected to his body, his eyes shut tight, seemingly dead except for the slow rise and rise of his chest. Dr. Greg the chief doctor immediately pulled down his mask, his gloved hand trembling with exhaustion that was obvious in his eyes, sweats shimmered on his temple. "Ms. Bianca." He called, "I informed you to stay outside we don't know the kind of sickness your your grandfather is Battling with yet. We're trying to be cautious." He and then looked at the young man beside her. His eyes flashed in familiarity and surprise. "Elias?!" His voice rasped. "What are you doing here?" "Respect, Greg. It
