The World Is Not The Same

[Faint growling ,Distant screaming, Sounds of explosions, car alarm and deserted roads.

Buildings falling apart, Spilled blood on roads, ].

Drifting out of his unconsciousness, Jacob slowly and steadily rose up as his body made crackling sounds. He groaned out in pain as he touched his head and found out it was

bleeding.

He turned towards the car window looking outside and saw that the world he once knew was no

longer the same. Almost everything around there was in chaos and great ruins.

Jacob turned and woke the others, they started regaining consciousness and was confused

about the world they woke up to.

Bella couldn't say any words no matter how much she tried to…. It was as if her mouth

became stiff and her throat dried.

David was the first person among them to speak.

"Guys, what the hell happened here?". No matter how much David tried to be bold and courageous with his words, sweat beads won't stop forming on his forehead.

"I don't know". Jacob replied. Even though he was listening to his friends, his eyes were still focused outside, staring at the ruins in disbelief.

David quickly brought out his phone inorder to call home but there was no signal…..he

asked others to check if their phone had a signal which they all did, but there wasn't any signal in any of their phones….they became worried concerning their parents and suggested

they go out of the car.

"W…. We can't come out now. You saw those things, what if they're still out there?. What if

those things are not just normal humans!?. I… I… I think we should stay here and wait for

the cops to come". Bella said, but David tried to reason with her but she wouldn't listen.

"I don't think we should just sit here and wait, Bella, if you think the cops would come, why

don't we go to them instead?". Lucian said.

Lucian then held her by her hand to console her. There was sudden silence inside the car as

tears were dripping out of Bella's eyes, her heart pounding rapidly.

Jacob also held Bella by her hand as David held Jacob by his hand.

"Look here guys". Lucian said…. "We're going to make our way out of here, no one is going

to get hurt if we all work together as a team, remember we should watch each other's asses

out there".

Bella then cleaned the tears forming from her eyes as they all manage to squeeze themselves out from the car after

Lucian's speech.

"The police station is not that far from here". Jacob said…. "Remember we passed it on our

way to the airport, it's just a couple blocks away from here".

[Distant shrieking]

Bella went close to David and held his hand saying with fear "What the hell is that noise?".

They all looked around to know where the sounds were coming from, but saw nothing.

David noticed Jacob still bleeding from his head, he brought out a handkerchief and gave it

to him to tie on his head in order to stop the bleeding before embarking on their journey to

the police station.

While walking on the deserted road, they noticed blood on the roads and on smashed cars

without seeing any injured or dead bodies.

They kept on walking while on high alert. On their way, they saw a lady standing still on the

road. Looking tattered with her clothes covered in blood. Bella quickly rushed towards her,

telling Jacob, Lucian and David that she might be of help to them.

Before Lucian could drag her back, she had already taken off towards her shouting "Hello!!

Hello!!. Please help us!". As she got closer, she then saw clearly the face of the woman, how

disfigured it was, with white eyes and blood on her mouth. She realised she had made a

mistake.

Bella quickly stopped running towards her, and turned to run away from her, but the infected

lady also chased after her, jumped and grabbed her by the leg. Bella screamed for help as

she used her leg to hold the infected lady back as it was gnawing its teeth at her.

Jacob rushed, picked up a traffic cone and hit the infected away from Bella, giving Lucian

and David the opportunity to pick Bella up.

The noise attracted other infected that were nearby, charging towards them.

This made them run for their very lives.

Lucian seeing that they are exposed if they continued running on the road, made them turn

into a narrow alley. They kept running along the alley as the infected kept chasing them

growling.

While running along the alley, they arrived at a dead end.

Lucian looked around and saw a fire escape balcony. He then climbed a car parked close to

the balcony in order to gain access to the ladder, and told others to follow him.

They all rushed and followed Lucian up the fire escape, as the infected were already gaining

up on them.

David was the last to follow them up, as he climbed the fire escape ladder, he held a rung

which got broken off from the ladder, the ladder retracted and got hooked while he fell down

on the car below him surrounded by the infected.
