After fleeing, Old Wade hailed a taxi and returned to where Gilbert awaited him. Old Wade's expression darkened upon seeing his son. He hadn't anticipated Gilbert's disloyalty in fleeing at the first sign of danger.

"Gilbert!" Old Wade bellowed, drawing the attention of the lunchtime crowd in the eatery. Gilbert hung his head low as Old Wade stormed over to his table, pointing an accusatory finger.

Gilbert lifted his gaze. "Dad, I tried to warn you, but you wouldn't listen," he replied.

Old Wade made no effort to lower his voice; his outburst disrupted the peaceful atmosphere of the eatery, causing discomfort to the diners. A security guard approached them, saying, "Excuse me, sir, please lower your voice. You're disturbing our patrons with the noise."
