"We have to alert the other neighbours about it so that he doesn't try to escape before the police come around." Mrs Thompson planned with Debbie.

But while Mrs Thompson was still talking, Debbie's phone buzzed with an incoming call. Glancing at the screen, she saw that it was Sarah, her friend who was also Vera's friend. Curiosity piqued, she quickly answered. Vera, Sarah, and Debbie had been friends since childhood.

"Debbie, it's Sarah. I need to talk to you," Sarah's voice trembled with a mix of urgency and sadness.

"What's wrong, Sarah?" Debbie asked, concerned by the tone of her friend's voice.

"It's Vera," Sarah sighed. "She's been staying at my house since everything happened, but something terrible has occurred. One of her ex-boyfriends, who also happens to be the father of her child, took the baby away. Vera is devastated."
