The smell of smoke brought William back to consciousness.
His body ached as he struggled to get back up to his feet. The sound of sparks from damaged electrical parts could be heard all over the plane. They had crashed. Both of the plane’s wings had been badly damaged on impact, so there was no hope of it flying again. Damon and Fiona were still unconscious while Scarlett and Sophia were just waking up as well. William heard what sounded like waves nearby. Looking outside the window, he noticed that they had crashed on an island. Considering the condition of their plane, it was a miracle that they had even survived. Panic crawled into Scarlett’s voice as she looked around. “What happened?” “The plane crashed.” William explained. “Crashed?! Oh my goodness! Where is the pilot?” Sophia exclaimed as she held her head. She had sustained a slight injury from the crash. Sophia and Scarlett tried to bring back Damon and Fiona back to consciousness while William moved towards the cockpit to check on the pilot. He tried to open the door but the lock had been damaged. Taking a step back, he lunged towards the door forcing it open. As he entered, he saw the pilot’s head laying down on the plane controls. He lifted him up and realized that a large piece of glass had pierced the pilot’s chest. He had lost a lot of blood and unfortunately had passed away. A look of dread spread across William’s face when he realized the pilot was dead. After Fiona and Damon had finally gained consciousness, they went outside the plane onto the sandy shore. The island looked like it was deserted and there were no signs of people anywhere. “What are we going to do? Are we going to die here?” Chloe complained, almost in tears. Damon tried to call for help but there was no signal on any of their phones. “Shit! No signal” He cursed loudly. He turned angrily at William. “This is all bad luck from Grandfather giving you the company.” William couldn’t believe that even in this situation, Damon still found a way to blame him. He rubbed his hands against his temple as he thought of what to do next. “There should be a radio in the cockpit, perhaps we can use it to call for help.” He ran back into the cockpit and found the radio dangling on the side of the dashboard. However, it looked like it had been damaged from the crash. Luckily for William, he was skilled when it came to electronics. If he pursued a career in that, he would have been very successful. William was still inspecting the radio as he came out of the plane. “The radio is damaged.” “Give me that!” Damon pushed him aside as he forcefully grabbed the radio from him. “Hello? Somebody help us! Our plane crashed!” He shouted frantically into the radio, but there was no response. William sighed. “They can’t hear us. The receiver is damaged. If you give it to me, I can try to get it fixed.” Damon snarled and threw the radio towards him. “Fine.” For the next two hours William worked on the radio’s receiver while the rest of the Grey family complained non-stop. For people who grew up in luxury, it was obvious that none of members of them could survive being stranded. “What are you even doing? It’s been two hours and you can’t even fix the damn radio! Can’t you be useful for once?” Fiona complained bitterly. “We shouldn’t have expected anything from a stupid fool like you.” Sophia added to the insults even though she herself wasn’t doing anything to help. Finally, after a while, William was able to get the radio working again. However, the battery was low. If they were going to have any chance at being rescued, he had to be quick. He sent a distress signal several times but there was no reply. He continued to try until the battery finally gave in. William sighed. “The battery is dead. We can only hope someone got the distress signal.” Fiona squeezed her face. She hadn’t eaten anything for hours and her stomach had started to grumble. She turned to William. “Why don’t you make yourself more useful and try to find us something to eat?” William was a bit hungry himself and was tired of hearing their annoying voices so he decided to go deeper into the island in search of some food. The island they were was actually known as the Legolas Island. Legolas Island was one of the most dangerous islands in the world. It had a rough terrain and some dangerous animals. Most people couldn’t even survive more than 3 days there. William spent the next hour looking around for something to eat. After searching for a while, he found a group of bushes with some purple berries. He plucked as many as he could and filled all of his pockets. Just as he finished plucking enough, he heard a whirring sound. It sounded like a helicopter. The distress signal he sent had gone through! A rescue team had come to save them. “Oh! Thank goodness!” Fiona jumped with joy as the rescue helicopter landed. “We’re glad we were able to find you in time. This island is very dangerous to be on. It serves as a training base for the Legolas army. If they found you here, you could have been killed.” One of the rescue men explained. One of the members of the rescue team took a head count. “Is this everyone?” A dark look formed on the faces of the Grey family members. This was the solution to their inheritance problem. If they left William on the island, he would surely be killed and won’t be around to claim the inheritance. That way, Scarlett would automatically become the chairman. “Yes. We are the only ones who survived the crash.” Fiona said with a wicked grin on her face. All the other members nodded their heads in agreement

[William’s Apartment] “Scarlett is prepared to beat the bid. She has offered 130 billion dollars.” William informed Roland. Roland nodded, a bit surprised. “I wasn’t sure if she would.” William chuckled. “I know Scarlett. I knew she’d never be able to stand seeing William outdo her. Her pride won’t allow her to.” “I guess you’ll be awarding the contract to her now?” Roland asked. William’s eyes narrowed, he walked towards to his home bar picking out a bottle of whiskey. “Not yet. I still want to push her a little bit more.” A confused expression was drawn on Roland’s face. “What do you mean?” “EdgeSpin is going to be making another bid of 15 billion.” William replied. Roland’s eyes widened. “What? For her to match that, she’ll need to risk more than half of her company’s networth. Will she really be willing to do that?” William sat back on his leather seat, staring into the air as he took a sip of his whiskey. “Don’t worry. She will.” he said confidently. [Grey Industries]

Over the next day, Scarlett struggled to make a decision. To outbid EdgeSpin, she would have to make a risky investment. She wasn’t sure if that was a risk she was meant to take. On the other hand, Asher Knight had offered her a golden opportunity. There were many companies who would fight to get the chance she had just been given. She had always wanted to make Grey Industries greater. Was she really going to just let this chance slip by? She was still in thought when her intercom buzzed and her secretary’s voice came through. “Ma’am there’s someone here to see you.” Scarlett frowned. She wasn’t expecting anyone. “Who is it?” she asked. “He says he’s the CEO of a company named EdgeSpin.” her secretary replied. Scarlett’s eyes widened. The CEO of Edgespin? Why did he want to see her? “Alright. You can let him in.” Some minutes later, her office door opened and a man in a grey suit stepped inside. Immediately she saw him, her expression turned sour. “You???” she blurt

“We’re prepared to publicly announce the project.” Roland said as he walked into William’s office. William nodded. “Good. Make sure you spread the word that Knight Industries have already found a company that they are willing to partner with.” “I’m sure this will make Scarlett even more desperate to acquire the 30% stake in the project.” he said, branding a wicked smile. [ Grey Industries. ] “Ma’am, Project Contrl has been officially announced by Knight Industries.” Scarlett’s secretary informed her in her office. Scarlett smiled inwardly, she was sure that with her relationship with Asher Knight, he was surely going to choose Grey Industries as the official partner. “Have there been any information about the company they plan to award the 30% stake to?” she asked. “Yes, Ma’am.” her secretary replied. Scarlett smiled expecting the next name to come out of the secretary’s mouth to be Grey Industries. “It’s a company called EdgeSpin. I hear they are in advance talks t

At 7:00 pm, a limo came to pick up Scarlett. She wore a striking red dress and red lipstick to match. Soon they arrived at the sea dock. She stepped out and immediately saw Asher Knight waiting for her. He looked effortlessly handsome in a dark navy suit, no tie, just the right hint of charm and mystery. Scarlett looked around confused . “I thought we were having dinner? I don’t think there are any restaurants around here.” “We are.” William said with a charming chuckle. “I wanted us to have a private dinner on my yacht.” Asher led her to his yacht where a romantic dinner setup was waiting for them. The floor was littered with beautiful roses, and lavender candles all over. Scarlett felt like a princess as he pulled her chair for her. “Isn’t this a bit too much for a first date?” she asked casually. “Well,” William said as he took his seat. “I have never brought any woman on my yacht before, you are a special woman and deserve a special first date.” Scarlett couldn’t h

Scarlett walked into the Grey mansion with a wide grin on her face. She tossed her purse on the sofa and spun slightly. Her joy was so much that it couldn't be contained. “Guess who just closed a huge contract worth a billion with Knight Industries?” The room went still. Sophia who was lying down reading a magazine quickly stood up straight, nearly spilling the drink on the table. Her eyes widened with interest. “Wait..What? You met Asher Knight? Did he say anything about me?” Sophia asked with eagerness. Scarlett’s smile dropped into a look of dry amusement. She folded her arms, leaning against the doorway. “No. He didn’t mention you once.” Her tone was cool, but there was a sharp edge of satisfaction in it. “I’m not even sure he remembers you… other than the fact that you almost dragged him into a scandal.” Sophia’s face turned red with annoyance as she clenched her jaw tightly. Her nostrils flared up as she was ready to fire back a sharp insult, but a single glance from
