The smell of smoke brought William back to consciousness.

His body ached as he struggled to get back up to his feet.

The sound of sparks from damaged electrical parts could be heard all over the plane.

They  had crashed. Both of the plane’s wings had been badly damaged on impact, so there was no hope of it flying again.

Damon and Fiona were still unconscious while Scarlett and Sophia were just waking up as well.

William heard what sounded like waves nearby. Looking outside the window, he noticed that they had crashed on an island.

Considering the condition of their plane, it was a miracle that they had even survived.

Panic crawled into Scarlett’s voice as she looked around. “What happened?”

“The plane crashed.” William explained.

“Crashed?! Oh my goodness! Where is the pilot?” Sophia exclaimed as she held her head. She had sustained a slight injury from the crash.

Sophia and Scarlett tried to bring back Damon and Fiona back to consciousness while William moved towards the cockpit to check on the pilot.

He tried to open the door but the lock had been damaged. Taking a step back, he lunged towards the door forcing it open.

As he entered, he saw the pilot’s head laying down on the plane controls. He lifted him up and realized that a large piece of glass had pierced the pilot’s chest.

He had lost a lot of blood and unfortunately had passed away.

A look of dread spread across William’s face when he realized the pilot was dead.

After Fiona and Damon had finally gained consciousness, they went outside the plane onto the sandy shore.

The island looked like it was deserted and there were no signs of people anywhere.

“What are we going to do? Are we going to die here?” Chloe complained, almost in tears.

Damon tried to call for help but there was no signal on any of their phones. “Shit! No signal” He cursed loudly.

He turned angrily at William. “This is all bad luck from Grandfather giving you the company.”

William couldn’t believe that even in this situation, Damon still found a way to blame him.

He rubbed his hands against his temple as he thought of what to do next. “There should be a radio in the cockpit, perhaps we can use it to call for help.”

He ran back into the cockpit and found the radio dangling on the side of the dashboard. However, it looked like it had been damaged from the crash.

Luckily for William, he was skilled when it came to electronics. If he pursued a career in that, he would have been very successful.

William was still inspecting the radio as he came out of the plane. “The radio is damaged.”

“Give me that!” Damon pushed him aside as he forcefully grabbed the radio from him.

“Hello? Somebody help us! Our plane crashed!” He shouted frantically into the radio, but there was no response.

William sighed. “They can’t hear us. The receiver is damaged. If you give it to me, I can try to get it fixed.”

Damon snarled and threw the radio towards him. “Fine.”

For the next two hours William worked on the radio’s receiver while the rest of the Grey family complained non-stop.

For people who grew up in luxury, it was obvious that none of members of them could survive being stranded.

“What are you even doing? It’s been two hours and you can’t even fix the damn radio! Can’t you be useful for once?” Fiona complained bitterly.

“We shouldn’t have expected anything from a stupid fool like you.” Sophia added to the insults even though she herself wasn’t doing anything to help.

Finally, after a while, William was able to get the radio working again. However, the battery was low.

If they were going to have any chance at being rescued, he had to be quick.

He sent a distress signal several times but there was no reply. He continued to try until the battery finally gave in.

William sighed. “The battery is dead. We can only hope someone got the distress signal.”

Fiona squeezed her face. She hadn’t eaten anything for hours and her stomach had started to grumble.

She turned to William. “Why don’t you make yourself more useful and try to find us something to eat?”

William was a bit hungry himself and was tired of hearing their annoying voices so he decided to go deeper into the island in search of some food.

The island they were was actually known as the Legolas Island. Legolas Island was one of the most dangerous islands in the world.

It had a rough terrain and some dangerous animals. Most people couldn’t even survive more than 3 days there.

William spent the next hour looking around for something to eat. After searching for a while, he found a group of bushes with some purple berries.

He plucked as many as he could and filled all of his pockets. Just as he finished plucking enough, he heard a whirring sound. It sounded like a helicopter.

The distress signal he sent had gone through! A rescue team had come to save them.

“Oh! Thank goodness!” Fiona jumped with joy as the rescue helicopter landed.

“We’re glad we were able to find you in time. This island is very dangerous to be on. It serves as a training base for the Legolas army. If they found you here, you could have been killed.” One of the rescue men explained.

One of the members of the rescue team took a head count. “Is this everyone?”

A dark look formed on the faces of the Grey family members. This was the solution to their inheritance problem.

If they left William on the island, he would surely be killed and won’t be around to claim the inheritance. That way, Scarlett would automatically become the chairman.

“Yes. We are the only ones who survived the crash.” Fiona said with a wicked grin on her face. All the other members nodded their heads in agreement

William instantly recognized him. “You…You are…" “Yes. I'm the man you spared two years ago. My name is Roland.” He responded. William took a step back, a bit suspicious of his sudden appearance. “Why are you here?” “To pay you back for your help.” Roland replied. William's eyes narrowed. “Pay me back? How?” “I have gained a particular set of skills that would help you greatly. I can hack into almost any system in the world and build high tech programs” Roland continued. “I've researched you and I know you have a vendetta against the Grey family. I'd like to help you in your mission.” William raised his eyebrow. “How can I trust you?” Roland's expression turned serious. “Although I am eternally grateful that you saved my life, I also need your help with something else.” William's voice lowered. “What would that be?” Roland's gaze flickered to the ground before meeting William again. “You were able to leave the Legolas army. I want you to help me get my sister out

  • CHAPTER 38 [ NATASHA AND ROLAND : ORIGIN STORY]

[ 3 years ago, Legolas Army base] The soldiers gathered around for a briefing on their next mission. William was among those chosen for the expedition. It was his first official mission as a member of the Legolas army. General Ryker stood in front of them communicating his orders. “We've been contracted to eliminate a war criminal known as Robinson Tradwell.” Since the Legolas army was a private army, they weren't interested in the details of what their employers wanted as long as they got paid. Ryker pulled up a map on the large screen behind them. “The Intel reaching us is that he and his men are trying to escape and are currently in the Rhunakis desert.” “Remember, this is a clean mission, and there must be no witnesses. We move in and we take out the target. Is that understood?” “Sir, yes sir!” The soldiers roared in unison. The team of six including the general set out in their chopper at night. As they flew nearer to the drop point, William grew increasingly nervous.

  • CHAPTER 37

William's car engine roared as he drove into the parking lot of his penthouse apartment. He was quickly met by Roland who was waiting just outside. “Where is she?” William asked impatiently. "She's in the living room waiting for you." Roland responded. William sighed. “Okay. Did she by any chance see Martha? I don't want her dragged into this in any way.” "No. I told Miss Martha to stay in as you're having a very important meeting." Roland responded. "Good." William and Natasha knew each other from his time in the Legolas army. Natasha was one of General Ryker's most trusted intelligence operatives. However, this visit wasn't about old memories. The general had sent her for a reason. Natasha sat with her feet crossed having a drink when William walked into the room. “William! It's been too long. The general sends his regards.” she said with a light tone. William smiled. “It's not even been up to a year. Did you miss me that much?” “Let me guess. He wants you to

  • CHAPTER 36

William swallowed hard. Was she on to him? He slowly turned around trying to keep a composed face. “What do you mean?” Sophia narrowed her eyes as she walked closer to him. “It's your glasses." she said as she tilted her head. "I thought they used to be round? You've always worn round glasses.” William stomach tightened. He had put on his special glasses for recording and forgot that Leblanc didn't wear square shaped glasses. “Oh.” William chuckled nervously rubbing the back of his neck “Just wanted to try something different.” Sophia stared for a second longer before shrugging lazily. “Hmmm…Alright. You may leave.” She said dismissively before returning back to her phone. William exhaled sharply the moment he stepped out. Next, he had to figure out the perfect way to expose the video of Sophia confessing. Sophia's birthday was coming up and she always loved to throw big parties where she would host popular names from all over. William decided that that would be t

  • CHAPTER 35

“Yes.” William replied. “ His name is Leblanc. He works for the Grey family, and there's no way he's going to admit that Sophia sent him, he's way too loyal.” “So how do we prove that this was Sophia's doing?” Roland asked. William's voice lowered. Is Project Chameleon finally ready for launch? Roland's eyes widened. “You mean….” A wicked smirk formed on William's lips. “Yes, I'm going to beat Sophia at her own game.” Project Chameleon was a secret high tech project being carried out by Knight Industries. They had been working on a highly sophisticated AI mask that made it possible for the wearer to assume any face they wanted. It even had the ability to change the voice of the person who was wearing it. William had been planning to use it for something else, but because of this, he was going to use it early. “So you're going to act as Leblanc?” Roland asked. “Yes. I'm going to trick Sophia into confessing that she was responsible for those images.” William replied.

  • CHAPTER 34

“I promise I'm going to get to the bottom of this and if it turns out to be Sophia, I'm going to make sure to expose her for everyone to see.” William assured Martha. “Call Roland,” William said, giving an audio command to his phone. The phone rang once before Roland answered. “Hello sir.” “Roland. I need you to analyze the photos of Martha and Michael. Find out who created them.” “Yes sir. I'll get right on it.” Martha glanced at William with uncertainty. “Where are we going?” “I'm talking you to my place. You can lay low there for now, at least until we can take care of this.” Soon they arrived at William's penthouse apartment. He led the way inside, looking around to make sure none of the reporters had followed them. William escorted her into one of the guest rooms. “You can stay here. No one will disturb you. I'll be in the other room if you need me.” “Thank you so much.” Martha said softly. About an hour later, Roland returned with news about the images. He
