“Grandfather Richard has passed away!”
Scarlett had just received news that her Grandfather and head of the Grey empire, Richard Grey had passed away. Although the headquarters of most of the Grey’s businesses including Grey Industries were in Crenshaw city where the family stayed, Richard Grey lived in Greenville city. The lawyer had asked the family to come over to discuss the sharing of the inheritance. Scarlett was positive that she was going to be made the next Chairman of Grey Industries which was worth 10 billion dollars. ********* William packed their bags as they prepared to leave for Greenville city. The Grey family didn’t fly in commercial airplanes. They had their own private plane. While the Grey family flew like kings and queens, William wasn’t allowed to stay with them in the main quarters. He had to sit on the ground in a small corner next to the restroom. Soon, they arrived at Richard Grey’s mansion in Greenville city. The mansion was exquisite and showed just how much money Richard Grey had. As they arrived at the mansion. Madame Croft, the caretaker, asked some of the servants to assist William with the luggage, but Sophia stopped them. “No need to help him. That’s his job.” She snarled. Apart from Richard Grey, Madame Croft was the only other person who treated William nicely whenever they met. With no help, William struggled to move all the bags. He had to climb a large flight of stairs in such a massive mansion. When he was finally done moving all their bags to their rooms, he was exhausted. Mr. Perry, the family lawyer, arrived at the mansion shortly after for the will reading. All of the family members came together in the living room to hear Richard Grey’s will. William was also on his way to the living room when Damon stopped him. “Where do you think you’re going? The will is for Mr. Grey’s family members, not thrash like you.” Not wanting to cause any trouble, William silently returned to his room alone while everyone else sat down waiting for the lawyer to read the will. Mr. Perry had a solemn expression on his face. “You’re all welcome. I would firstly like to offer condolences to you all. Richard Grey was a great man. He unzipped his leather bag and brought out a file. “I will now be reading the contents of Richard Grey’s will.” However, he stopped briefly looking around as if searching for someone. “Where is Mr. William?” Sophia scoffed. “There’s no need for him to be here. It’s my grandfather’s will after all.” “Mr. Richard instructed that he should be present. Without him we cannot commence with the will reading.” Mr. Perry explained “What? why would grandfather want that piece of thrash here? There’s no way he could have left him something.” Damon protested. Scarlett snarled. “Grandfather always had a soft spot for him. He must have left him some peanuts.” She instructed one of the maids to call William. William was surprised when he was told to join the other members in the living room. Richard Grey had always been nice to him, but he wasn’t expecting that he would give him anything. Satisfied that everyone was present, Mr. Perry began reading the will. “This is the will of Richard Grey.” Properties, cars and funds were shared amongst Fiona and all the grandchildren. As William expected, nothing was given to him. “As for the ownership of Grey Industries…” Everyone listened in anticipation. They were sure that Scarlett was going to be appointed as the new chairman. Grey Industries was worth 80% of all Richard Grey’s properties. It was valued at around 10 billion dollars. “I leave it to William.” Everyone gasped in shock. Scarlett nearly fell to the ground as her feet grew weak. William's eyes widened in disbelief. Did he hear correctly? Grey Industries was his? “What did you just say? Grandfather Richard left the company to this pig?” Fiona thundered angrily. Damon let out a loud laugh. “That was a good joke Mr. Perry. Now tell us, who did Grandfather leave the company to?” Mr. Richard sighed. “It’s as I said. Lord Richard’s wishes were that William be the new Chairman of Grey Industries.” Damon walked angrily towards him and yanked the will out of his hands. His eyes widened in shock when he read the will. It was just as the lawyer said. It was written plainly that the company was left to William and was signed by Richard Grey. “That was Lord Richard’s wishes. It only goes to Scarlett if William is unable to claim the inheritance.” Mr. Perry explained. Fiona clenched her teeth angrily at William. “You snake! You must have known about this.” However, William was just as confused as the rest of them. He could never have imagined this happening. Why would Richard Grey make him the Chairman of Grey Industries? As they flew back to Crenshaw city, William was still trying to wrap his head around what had just happened. Meanwhile, the entire Grey family were fuming. Scarlett’s hopes of becoming Grey Industries’ Chairman had been shattered to pieces. They weren’t going to allow a piece of scum like William take hold of Grey Industries. They had to find a way to get it back. The plane had gone midway through the journey when a serious storm started. The pilot’s voice buzzed on the intercom. “Everyone please make sure your seatbelts are properly secured. We are experiencing a bit of turbulence.” The plane shook from side to side as the pilot struggled to keep control. However, the weather conditions only got worse. A strike of lightning hit one of the propellers causing it to spiral out of control. "We're going down! We're going down!!!"

William instantly recognized him. “You…You are…" “Yes. I'm the man you spared two years ago. My name is Roland.” He responded. William took a step back, a bit suspicious of his sudden appearance. “Why are you here?” “To pay you back for your help.” Roland replied. William's eyes narrowed. “Pay me back? How?” “I have gained a particular set of skills that would help you greatly. I can hack into almost any system in the world and build high tech programs” Roland continued. “I've researched you and I know you have a vendetta against the Grey family. I'd like to help you in your mission.” William raised his eyebrow. “How can I trust you?” Roland's expression turned serious. “Although I am eternally grateful that you saved my life, I also need your help with something else.” William's voice lowered. “What would that be?” Roland's gaze flickered to the ground before meeting William again. “You were able to leave the Legolas army. I want you to help me get my sister out
CHAPTER 38 [ NATASHA AND ROLAND : ORIGIN STORY]
[ 3 years ago, Legolas Army base] The soldiers gathered around for a briefing on their next mission. William was among those chosen for the expedition. It was his first official mission as a member of the Legolas army. General Ryker stood in front of them communicating his orders. “We've been contracted to eliminate a war criminal known as Robinson Tradwell.” Since the Legolas army was a private army, they weren't interested in the details of what their employers wanted as long as they got paid. Ryker pulled up a map on the large screen behind them. “The Intel reaching us is that he and his men are trying to escape and are currently in the Rhunakis desert.” “Remember, this is a clean mission, and there must be no witnesses. We move in and we take out the target. Is that understood?” “Sir, yes sir!” The soldiers roared in unison. The team of six including the general set out in their chopper at night. As they flew nearer to the drop point, William grew increasingly nervous.
CHAPTER 37
William's car engine roared as he drove into the parking lot of his penthouse apartment. He was quickly met by Roland who was waiting just outside. “Where is she?” William asked impatiently. "She's in the living room waiting for you." Roland responded. William sighed. “Okay. Did she by any chance see Martha? I don't want her dragged into this in any way.” "No. I told Miss Martha to stay in as you're having a very important meeting." Roland responded. "Good." William and Natasha knew each other from his time in the Legolas army. Natasha was one of General Ryker's most trusted intelligence operatives. However, this visit wasn't about old memories. The general had sent her for a reason. Natasha sat with her feet crossed having a drink when William walked into the room. “William! It's been too long. The general sends his regards.” she said with a light tone. William smiled. “It's not even been up to a year. Did you miss me that much?” “Let me guess. He wants you to
CHAPTER 36
William swallowed hard. Was she on to him? He slowly turned around trying to keep a composed face. “What do you mean?” Sophia narrowed her eyes as she walked closer to him. “It's your glasses." she said as she tilted her head. "I thought they used to be round? You've always worn round glasses.” William stomach tightened. He had put on his special glasses for recording and forgot that Leblanc didn't wear square shaped glasses. “Oh.” William chuckled nervously rubbing the back of his neck “Just wanted to try something different.” Sophia stared for a second longer before shrugging lazily. “Hmmm…Alright. You may leave.” She said dismissively before returning back to her phone. William exhaled sharply the moment he stepped out. Next, he had to figure out the perfect way to expose the video of Sophia confessing. Sophia's birthday was coming up and she always loved to throw big parties where she would host popular names from all over. William decided that that would be t
CHAPTER 35
“Yes.” William replied. “ His name is Leblanc. He works for the Grey family, and there's no way he's going to admit that Sophia sent him, he's way too loyal.” “So how do we prove that this was Sophia's doing?” Roland asked. William's voice lowered. Is Project Chameleon finally ready for launch? Roland's eyes widened. “You mean….” A wicked smirk formed on William's lips. “Yes, I'm going to beat Sophia at her own game.” Project Chameleon was a secret high tech project being carried out by Knight Industries. They had been working on a highly sophisticated AI mask that made it possible for the wearer to assume any face they wanted. It even had the ability to change the voice of the person who was wearing it. William had been planning to use it for something else, but because of this, he was going to use it early. “So you're going to act as Leblanc?” Roland asked. “Yes. I'm going to trick Sophia into confessing that she was responsible for those images.” William replied.
CHAPTER 34
“I promise I'm going to get to the bottom of this and if it turns out to be Sophia, I'm going to make sure to expose her for everyone to see.” William assured Martha. “Call Roland,” William said, giving an audio command to his phone. The phone rang once before Roland answered. “Hello sir.” “Roland. I need you to analyze the photos of Martha and Michael. Find out who created them.” “Yes sir. I'll get right on it.” Martha glanced at William with uncertainty. “Where are we going?” “I'm talking you to my place. You can lay low there for now, at least until we can take care of this.” Soon they arrived at William's penthouse apartment. He led the way inside, looking around to make sure none of the reporters had followed them. William escorted her into one of the guest rooms. “You can stay here. No one will disturb you. I'll be in the other room if you need me.” “Thank you so much.” Martha said softly. About an hour later, Roland returned with news about the images. He
