After the explosion, which had obviously had repercussions throughout the entire colony, the alarm of the colony's siren, which had been silent for a considerable amount of time, sounded.
The unexpected sound caught everyone off guard, particularly because the majority of them had never heard it before.
After hearing the warning scream of the siren, all of the people in the thirteenth colony once again began to shake, and fear began to well up inside of them in anticipation of the abomination that was coming their way.
More than a mile away, across the twelfth colony, was the location of the most recent close-range siren the people from the thirteenth colony had ever heard.
It was when the same kinds of monsters were able to break through the barrier of the colony and destroy the entire area, leaving almost no one alive after they did so.
Even their crystal fortress in the twelfth colony was not able to hold up for very long in the face of the overwhelming amount of pressure that was being applied by the various kinds of monsters.
It was reported that three S-tier monsters using extremely powerful orbs completely destroyed the crystal fortress and devoured all the humans who had taken refuge there.
This terrible occurrence had a catastrophic impact on the entire twelfth colony, and it now appeared that the thirteenth colony, which was the last one on Espactra, would soon suffer the same fate.
After what seemed like a long while of processing what was going on, a loud chaos began to spread out across the colony as a herd of monsters entered the whole zone.
All the people screamed in horror and helplessness as each and every one of them was slowly chased down and devoured by these monstrosities.
Others started running away and looking for somewhere they could hide as they fled the area.
While others, who are fully aware of the situation, made a hasty journey to the north in order to locate the crystal fortress of the thirteenth colony before it could even become completely occupied with other refugees.
While this was going on, back at the educational institution that served the thirteenth colony, all of the students were being given the order to immediately evacuate the entire campus.
The underground shuttle, which was the quickest way for all of them to transfer to the crystal fortress at the same time, was to be used by each and every student and faculty member of the institution.
And while everyone in the establishment was carefully evacuating the whole place, there was one person who was not even aware of the situation just yet. After the explosion, he was obliterated by the heap of vending machines that had been stacked on top of him.
Yujin, who was in the lounge when the explosion occurred, made an effort to flee the building, but by the time he reached the exit, it was too late for him to even make it out entirely.
As a result of the impact, the ground began to shake, which appears to have been the factor that ultimately led to him losing consciousness after a falling vending machine struck him on the head.
It was a lucky break for him that the accident didn't even end up taking his life. Yujin was finally able to regain consciousness a short while after everyone else on the campus had successfully evacuated the building and the institution altogether.
Yujin's head was still hurting from the blow it took from the vending machine, but despite the discomfort, he made an effort to get to his feet and get a better look at his surroundings.
When he tried to remember what took place in the moments before he blacked out, the only thing Yujin could bring to mind was a massive explosion that resounded throughout Espactra's thirteenth colony.
After that, Yujin started to look around the establishment in the hopes that he could find someone to question about what had just occurred, but to his astonishment, he was unable to locate anyone there.
Even a single one of them was nowhere to be found in the area any longer.
Yujin had just had the thought that it was possible for the others to have already evacuated the building. And because Yujin could still feel some discomfort on his forehead, he immediately tried to touch it and abruptly confirmed that the discomfort was all due to a small wound that was located on his forehead.
He made the decision to go to the infirmary in order to get assistance from the institution's medic, but when he arrived at the infirmary, there was no one around there either. It seemed odd to him given that the institution's physician would most likely spend his free time in the hospital, treating it as if it were his own residence.
On the other hand, it seemed like the infirmary had become a run-down clinic. The cabinets had their doors propped open, giving the impression that someone had just come in to store away some medical supplies; additionally, the tables on which the majority of the medical kits that were always present were now completely empty.
Given the current circumstances, Yujin was no longer able to utilize the institution’s infirmary. Which was why even with an aching forehead, Yujin exited the infirmary to head out the school grounds.
He had better get out there and see things for himself if he wanted a better understanding of what was going on around him.
Yujin made the decision to leave the establishment for good in the end because there was no one left there who could obstruct him now that everyone else had abandoned him.
And as soon as he opened the school gate, the answer to his earlier question was suddenly presented to him in the form of a visual: two monsters of approximately the same height as him were heading in the direction of the gate.
It was already too late for Yujin to attempt to close the gate once more because the monsters were running towards him much more quickly than he had anticipated. Yujin immediately took his escape route and returned to the establishment after being overcome with a surge of adrenaline.
He had not even entertained the possibility that he would ever experience something like this in his life.
He had been in a number of violent fights in the past, including gang wars, which he had easily won. But he could never have imagined in his wildest dreams that a day like this would come, where he would feel the need to cower before his adversaries.
He even reasoned that it would be understandable knowing that he had no idea how he would actually fight off these monsters, which he thought was reasonable given that he had no idea how he would do so.
It was the very first time he had come across any of them this close, and in addition to that, he did not have a full understanding of how powerful these two monsters that were chasing after him could be.
The only thing that Yujin was aware of at this point was the possibility that he would have to fight for his own survival.
