Noah, still standing in front of his uncle, Mr Adrian, whose eyes were still widened in shock as he gazed at his wife, madam Celeste, who was also in shock too as she gazed at Noah Varyn, who still had his face gazed to the floor.

"Are you sure that is what you want to do, you really want to leave this mansion?."

Mr Adrian asked as he lowered his glasses to his nose level and gazed at him.

"Yes, uncle Adrian, that is what I want to do."

Noah Varyn responded as he gazed up at him, his voice now laced with seriousness. Mr Adrian gazed at him eye to eye for a second.

"Okay then, if it is what you want then I will support you."

Mr Adrian spoke as he broke the stare and took up his magazine.

"What!"

Madam Celeste exclaimed as he gazed curiously at Mr Adrian and then gazed back at Noah Varyn with a scornful gaze.

"Uhmm...thanks uncle but there is no need for that, I am going to get a per time Job in the city and I will sort my need with my salaries that I will be getting."

Noah spoke as he gazed at Mr Adrian, his voice still laced with seriousness. Mr Adrian then gazed at him over his magazine and stared at him for a moment.

"Okay then, you are now old enough to make your own decisions so get on with it or do you have anything else you want to tell me?."

Mr Adrian asked as he gazed curiously at him.

"No. that is all."

Noah responded as he shook his head.

"I will go and get my things up in my room."

Noah spoke as he turned and walked straight up to his room. Mr Adrian gazed at him as he walked up the stairs.

'Why would he want to leave the mansion, does he know something about his father? Hell no,he doesn't.

Like it is said, he is now old enough to make his own decision."

Mr Adrian muttered to himself as he then gazed back at his magazine.

'Why would he grant him such a request?. Well, he might have his reason though.'

Madam Celeste muttered to himself as she gazed curiously at Mr Adrian, who then noticed her gaze and then gazed back at her. She immediately gazed away, Mr Adrian then smiled.

"Don't you worry honey, I have my reasons for granting him such a request and you know that reasons are always best, don't you?."

Mr Adrian asked as he gazed back at his magazine.

"Yes,my darling, I know your reasons are always right, I was just being curious you know..."

Immediately Mr Adrian interjected.

"There is nothing there to be curious about, honey, just leave it all to me."

He spoke, his voice laced with seriousness as his lips curved into a dark smirk.

Meaning while.

Up in Noah Varyn's room in the mansion. The door made a crack sound as he pushed it open, his room was all cleaned up by Miss Valerie. His lips curved into a smirk as he walked into the room and gazed around, his gaze fell on his family picture that was well kept on his table, he then walked over and took it up.

He gazed at it with a deep stare and suddenly some knocked on the door. He immediately turned around and his gaze fell on Miss Valerie, whose face was marked with a smile.

"Sorry, did I startle you?."

She asked, her voice laced with worry as she walked into the room.

"No, no."

Noah heo responded as he gazed back at the picture. Miss Valerie then walked and stood right by his side and gaze at the picture too.

"Your mother was a good and respectful woman."

Miss Valerie spoke, her voice laced with softness as she smiled.

"Yeah, she really was a good woman."

Noah spoke, his voice low and soft as he run his finger on the picture.

"Are you sure you want to do this?."

Miss Valerie asked, her voice low and soft as she gazed at Noah, who immediately took the picture and put it into his backpack.

"Yes, Miss Valerie, it is for the best."

He said as he packed up his clothes and then zipped up the zipper. He swung up his backpack to his left arm and then turned and gazed at Miss Valerie, whose gaze was now mixed with worry and sadness. Noah's lips curved into a smirk as he stepped closer to her.

"Miss Valerie, don't be sad, we will surely be in touch with each other and I can text you my location when I find a house."

Noah spoke, his voice laced with assurance as he placed his right arm on Miss Valerie's right shoulder.

Who immediately gazed up at him and then gave him a hug. Noah hesitated and then responded to her hug as he gently placed his arm on her back.

"Uhmm... Miss Valerie, you are squeezing the air out of me right now."

Noah spoke, his voice trembling as he tried to breath, immediately Miss Valerie broke the hug.

"Ohh, I am so sorry, I don't know my own strength anymore."

She said as she chuckled and stepped back a little bit.

'Wow I didn't know that Miss Valerie was this strong, on second thought, I think my spine would have been broken if I didn't stop her.'

Rome muttered to himself as he slowly placed his hand on his back. Miss Valerie then gazed at him as she noticed what he was doing with his hand.

"Are you okay, Noah?."

She asked, her voice laced with worry as she gazed at him.

"Yeah, I am, Miss Valerie, it is nothing."

Noah spoke as he smiled at her.

"I will have to start going, I think the cab I came with is waiting for me outside, I have wasted much of his time, I don't want him to double up his price."

Noah spoke as he hung his backpack properly.

"Okay then, call me when you have settled in, but where will you be staying for the meantime?."

Miss Valerie asked. Noah stopped half way through the door and turned and gazed at her.

"I will be crashing at my best friend Cole George's place in the meantime."

Noah responded.

"Okay then, goodbye."

"Yeah, Goodbye Miss Valerie and I promise to call you when I find an apartment."

Noah spoke as he walked out of his room and straight to the stairs, he walked past his uncle, who didn't even flinch at him and met madam Celeste on his way out, who gave him a scornful gaze and then gazed back to her Laptop.

Noah hesitated for a moment and then turned and walked out from the mansion. He immediately waved down a cab as he rushed towards the road side. The cab immediately stopped and he went in.

"Mr, where are you headed?."

The cab driver asked as he gazed at him through his rear view.

"I am heading to the mansion of the mayor of the city, mayor George."

Noah responded as he gazed back at the cab driver with a slight smile on his face.

"Okay, Mr."

The cab driver spoke as he turned on his engine and then zoomed off.

"You know, Mr, Mayor George is a very nice mayor."

"Yeah, he sure is a very good man."

Noah said, his gaze drifted to the windows as he gazed outside the busy road of Verrath City. Finally, after 3 hours on the road, they finally arrived in front of the Mayor Mansion gate.

Noah walked out from the cab and then paid off the cab driver.

"Thank you Mr and also greet the Mayor for me."

The cab driver spoke as he gazed at Noah who then smiled back at him.

"I will. Sir."

Noah spoke as he stood and watched as the cab driver pulled away. He then turned and walked into the mansion as the gate automatically rolled open, he reached at the front porch and saw that the door was slightly ajar, he then curiously gazed around and then slowly pushed it open.

He tiptoed into the mans

ion and saw that everywhere was dark.

"Cole!!"

"Mr George!"

He called out their name but no one answered and as he tiptoed to the kitchen, the lights went on and his eyes widened as his gaze fell on a surprise scene in the kitchen...

Happy birthday, Noah Varyn!!!"

Cole George, Mr George and the house workers of the George family all yelled out as they shot confetti in the air.

Noah's eyes still widened as he gazed at the scene and immediately Cole walked over and held his hand, pulling him into the kitchen and making him stand in front of his cake.

"Now everybody, let's sing the happy birthday song to Noah and a 1,2, 3, Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you."

Cole sang, his voice laced with happiness as he led the happy birthday chorus, Mr George and everyone immediately sang along, their faces all marked with happiness as they sang along.

"Happy birthday to Noah!"

The place was a pigsty. The dining room table was covered with an old, torn, paint-splattered tarp, and on top were several unopened cans of house paint and a couple of big plastic sacks from the local hardware store with paintbrushes sticking out. A swinging door connected the dining room to the kitchen, exactly like the one in Celeste’s house. Noah pushed the door open and then stepped into the kitchen. The first thing that struck him was the pungent smell. It was strong, acrid . . . familiar. Whatever the stringent combination was, it made his eyes tear and his throat burn. Unlike the other rooms, the kitchen wasn’t cluttered. No, it was immaculate. The counters were bare, spotless, shining . . . like another kitchen he’d been in. Recognition was sudden. He remembered the odor . . . vinegar and ammonia . . . and he remembered exactly where he’d smelled it before. His gaze frantically searched the kitchen. Truth slammed in

“Known what?”Noah didn’t immediately answer. He was reliving those terrifying moments when he’d crept out onto the balcony and had seen Celeste down below.“I should have figured it out before he had a chance to grab her. Because of my incompetence, Celeste almost lost her life, and Artemis got hit.”Tommy had never seen Noah so shaken. “Stop beating yourself up, and tell me what happened. What should you have known?”Noah rubbed his brow and leaned back against the wall. His gaze was glued to the curtain. He told Tommy everything, and when he was finished, Tommy needed to sit down.“My God, you both could have been killed.” He expelled a long breath and then stood. “You know I’d tell you if I thought you screwed up.”&ldqu
