THE TRANSITION

CHAPTER 4

After a short orientation with the new students, they were sent to their various dormitories

“ Here’s you dormitory”

a senior told Churchill and other two guys who were going to be his room mates.

“ Thank you Sir “ they said

“ You’re welcome” the senior replied.

Churchill laid on his bed feeling emotionally down and lost in thought he kept wondering about what he saw and his previous experience with her.

The others looked around the room with joy as it’s their new day in college.

“ I’m Evans and am here to study History”

one of his room mates introduced himself.

“ Oh that’s nice Hansel is my name am here to study History as well”

he smiled as he introduced himself.

“ Wow that’s nice” Evans replied.

They turned to look at Churchill who was laying on the bed filled with tears, he looked miserable and heartbroken.

“ Hey, roomie!”

Hansel shouted but Churchill was absent-minded. He went on to tap him on his shoulder

“ hey, what’s wrong with you?

You seemed worried and lost.”

“ I’m absolutely fine bro” Churchill replied

“You don’t look fine there’s something wrong am sure. You can confide in us ”

Evans interrupted.

Churchill shook his head and giggled, he introduced himself and told his friends about Meera.

Everything that has happened between them. The promises and age limit.

“ I really can’t believe Meena did this to me” he burst into tears.

Hansel laughed as he watch Churchill cry over Meena.

“Are you serious Churchill?

You are really crying over a girl in this era?

While there are so many beautiful girls around here”

Hansel asked with a serious face.

He went on to advice him to forget about Meena because he’s going to meet another girl as they are in college “

aaah Churchill am really disappointed in you.

As handsome as you are, don’t worry there are so many girls around who will help you find a beautiful and calm one than this Meena girl so chill bro.” Hansel chuckled.

Churchill wasn’t convinced at all he cried out loud which Hansel thought was annoying.

Evans came in and asked Churchill if is true Meena is here with them in the college if so he should go to her tomorrow and talk to her maybe she would explain her reasons better and further

“ so stop crying because today is your first day in college let’s have fun”.

Hansel agreed to what Evans said and advised that Churchill should meet Meena tomorrow.

On the next day, when the sun was bright Churchill left his dormitory for Meena's dormitory with an empty stomach. He was in a hurry to meet Meena and ask her reasons for cheating on him.

When he got to Meena's dormitory the place was quiet the girls were still in bed. He knocked several times but there was no answer, he waited for a while and knocked again there was no answer he left because he had lectures.

He came back again after class he knocked again until Meena's friend came out

“ Good morning Miss errmmm please am looking for Meena is she around? Please call her for me.”

“You again!

I thought Meena asked you not to come here again. Well she’s busy inside you have to go and come back later…..wait were you here earlier today?”

Churchill replied

“Yes that is why I want you to call her for me”

She shut the door and went to call Meena.

Meena came out embarrassed to meet Churchill who was standing in front of the gate.

His heart fluttered when he saw Meena he held her hand and dragged her out of the room

“ Good morning Meena guess you’re good?”

he stammered as he talked to Meena.

“ Good morning , I’m sorry for hurting you Churchill forgive err mmmm the work of the devil” Meena cried.

Churchill was not convinced by what Meena was saying he yelled at her, to tell the truth. Meena was fed up she persuaded herself and talked back at Churchill in a harsh tone

“ Look Mr. Man I have had enough of this whole bullshit ok! I can’t take this anymore. The fact that my parents are poor does not mean I should live a wretched and low class life I need to upgrade myself too Churchill.

Do you think life here is like how we live on the mountains? You are very funny.

The beautiful ladies you see around depends on something when I got here in my dirty clothes the first time you have no idea how I was mocked and embarrassed I felt so bad to even go to class with my way of dressing.

In the midst of my course mates I felt odd they were dressed in expensive and nice clothes with nice makeup on.

Fancy cars took them to the restaurants almost every night while I sit back here thinking of you which gave me nothing!.”

Getting in touch with you was not easy as you think Churchill.

I had to suffer and take care of myself things weren’t smooth as you see here you have to work and gain. I wanted to be like them so I asked how they afford such expensive stuff and lo and behold it wasn’t difficult as I thought actually.

They were paid by their boyfriends I shouted eiiiiiiiiii when I heard that their boyfriends were in charge of this. Then I realized I had to upgrade myself to the next level besides am more beautiful than all my roommates and so I deserve expensive make-up, dresses and fancy outings too.

I didn’t want to worry you either so I found myself a rich boyfriend who could afford all my demanding. The man you saw me with is one of my rich boyfriends he takes very good care of me unlike you.”

Churchill stood with his mouth opened in shock as he listens to Meena and looked straight into her eyes. He had no option but to lean on the wall and cry

“ I never expected you to do this to me Meena everything you have said today, is very hurtful I really can’t believe you saying this Meena oh my goodness! After everything we have gone through you have had the courage to tell me you have found yourself a new whaaa….t?

Rich boyfriend….

Really Meena?

I now believe for sure humans do change. So you couldn’t wait for a man you love?

You followed fancy materials and cheated on me Meena..

Guess you’re happy and living the life u desire..”

Meena felt ashamed she couldn’t look straight into Churchill's eyes she told Churchill to leave because she want to get inside.

“ I’m really disappointed in you Meena, I expected more from you but guess I was wrong all this while” Churchill cried

Meena chuckled after hearing Churchill talk

“ is it my fault you’re poor huh!.....

if you had been from a rich family guess we would have become a nice couple but since you’re not I guess we should end things here Mr.. Please excuse me if you don’t mind I have a lot to do inside…”

As she was about to leave, a luxury car stopped in front of the gate.

Meena stretched out to see if it was one of her rich boyfriends she began to dress properly and put things in good shape.

Unfortunately for her an elegant old man got out of the car he turned and looked around the compound.

He walked up to them and greeted with a smile he looked at Churchill and asked,

“ Hello young man, are you Churchill?”
